Thing I hate is there are so many replicas of that car. It's hard to tell which is real and which isn't.

Its easy to tell if its a real cobra or just a kit car. If you see it driving on the road, it's a kit car. The rich old bastards that own originals dont drive them, they rub them with a diaper and dont let anybody touch it. I'd wager that nobody in this forum has even laid eyes on an original, except maybe at a car show.

Your right about that, about the shelbys. But when i was living in plano, there was a shelby tour, where they were kicking off like the 40th or 45th anniversary of the shelby, i got to see a series 1, a shelby golf cart that is street legal and can reach 40 mph!, which retails for 20k. And a real cobra.

My favorites have always been:

GT500 KR Shelby Cobra289 A/C Shelby Cobra (I would not turn away a 427 Shelby Daytona Cobra)Buick GSXDodge Charger 500- The "500" stood for the amount of Chargers Dodge had to sell to enter the 500 into NASCAR. I dont think they actually sold 500 with this setup.1969 ZL-1 CamaroPlymouth Superbird- Unlike the big gay wings of today, the Superbird had a wing that was bolted to the frame. I heard that the front bumper and wing combination produced 850 lbs of force that pushed down on the car to keep it on the ground.

Cold_Zero, you have damn good taste. the daytona Coupes were some of the most bad azz cars around. and the daytona/superbirds were beasts. 700+hp engines in race trim. and when they were first used, the fords were doing 185mph laps. the first test lap for one was 199+mph. i think top speed was around 215+mph.

that is why my favorite mopar is the roadrunner, the original design to the superbirds, and designed to bring everything back down to the true muscle car aspect, a car made for pure muscle, no extra fancy stuff for comfort or luxury. And I like the fact it is ranked in the top 5 fastest muslce car with "factory" built engine.

Can't wait to get behind the wheels of one of these some day!

True that. No frills, no thrills. Just pure racing. I was reading about this GTO this got ordered from a dealer. He had a few things done to it, but it was still mostly stock, and it ran 12's. How much do you need to put into a Civic to get it into the twelves?

oops forgot one;)

GT-40 need i say more;)

but only the good one with the 427OHC (the car that won lemans)

the 427OHC is the engine that caused bill france to put NASCAR into the state of technological stasis that they are in today.

just imagine 427cubes with overhead cam 4 valve heads:D high-rev big block
