Along with Formula 1, hill-climbers and funny car dragsters, the old gruppe B rally cars were the most extreme racing machines of the time. Some could reach 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and 1/4 times of 10 secs. flat and in gravel.
well i must admit, i didnt know he was talking about this gruppe B quattro's, im talking about the ones that you see fairly often (well, more often than as if a few hundred were made), im not too sure what gruppe or whatever they're in, all i know is taht its an audi quatro, and they have massive fender flares, they def dont have o-6o in 2.8, atleats not the ones im talking about, perhaps some pics could clear stuff up for me?

I've never seen an actual Sports Quattro in person, If you see them often, I wanna know where you live so I can get one of them.

Mr.1der: that's the car. My friend has a green one. If you go to the Audi Potomac chapter site, there are pics of it . There are louvers all over the place and they're all functional. Actually kinda odd looking until you see one in person. Nizmo and K240; used sport Quattros sell for over $100,000, that is, if you can find one of the 6 or 7 US owners willing to sell one. So My mustang-Ferrari comparison is right on the money. They're street legal factory race cars that look like a shortened Coupe Quattro. My Mustang -Ferrari analogy is not far fetched at all. The old coupe quattros that you're thinking of had far 75 less hp than the Evo/STi, weigh more and are 20+ years older, so an STi or Evo should easily dust them. Big deal. I'd personally prefer a restored ur-quattro (coupe) over an Evo/STi. Very comfortable, better made, nicer looking and fun to drive. Problem is finding one.

well i stand corrected as far as the quattro thing goes, dont those have something like 3oohp (the one in the pic), the one i was thinking of when u mentioned ferrari/mustang, was a different car

Aztek72 wrote:I'll list the pro's and con's of each:

EVO:

Pros:1- Great handling. The EVO is the better driver's car of the two. It's also easier for an average joe to jump in and drive fast. Handling is sharper and the brakes have better feel to them.2- Less body-roll.

Cons:1- Cheap interior. Besides the ergonomic, sporty recaros, the interior just screamed Rubbermaid. Jumping in the car reminded me of the new Alty.2- Less power. The power downlow is no match for the Suby. You have to keep running the tach at full-boil to make the best use of the power, dropping below 3k and you deal with big-time lag. STI:

Pros:

1- Way better power. There's no blips in this super-even powerband. 2- Audi-ish interior. The standard WRX had a really nice int. but Subaru ups the ante here- without seeing the Subaru impresa on the steering wheel, you'd think you were behind the wheel of an Volkswagen or Audi. The seats and color schemes is a nice touch as well. 3- The computerized differential control kicks glute.

Cons:

1-Brutish. There's nothing precise about this car, it's like using a broad sword to spread butter on your toast. The steering isn't as responsive as the EVO (or the Q for the matter)2- Despite the power advantage not as fast it's the Mitsu contemporary around the track.3- Bigger price tag.4- NO STEREO!?!?

I ended taking the EVO home because it's just the better real-world car of the two. I'm saving up some money for some minor (exhaust, intake, shocks, performance pads) mods. Still the verdict is you can't go wrong with either car.

I would also add that the BBS wheels on the STi look better than the Enkei's on the Evo in my opinion.

The Sti is the first 6 spd. subaru...it looks cleaner and my freind has an Sti and it is a dream to drive....but im sure the EVO is the same way. no matter what you get you will be able to beat a lot of people on the street the way i see and it asll depends on how you drive to how fast it will run in the 1/4. I say go with the Sti!!!1

I think I'd have to go with that or the blue, only because I feel the yellow on this model is a little too pastel like for my taste.

black is a color you just can't go wrong with though, I don't think anyone can name a car that doesn't look good in it

I liked the Yellow at first but the more I look at it the less I like it.I like the Black for a few reasons.

1) the seats on the EVO are Blue and Black so the only colors that match real well are Black and Blue.-I can't go with Blue because Chris has a Blue one-

2) My 2k2 Altima is Black w/ clear tail lights and will look very good next to the Black EVO w/ clear tail lights.Im a big fan of having matching cars.

close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades, is that bronze rims i see on that black evo? or is that reflection from a yellow car in the background?, personally, i say wait a lil bit longer, and snag a STi, but its your call, we've been through this a million times, let us know which u get, and get us some pics sitting next to that 'even hotter than evo or STi' altima ;)

Rob-I don’t think they are bronze rims. I was of the understanding that all the Evo's come with the gray Enkeis.

Dane-Listen to Rob he is your conscience speaking.

yea, not that i look at it again, they are silver rims, just looked bronze cause of the reflection of a nearby yellow car. If i got a black EVo8, those silver rims would be going either gunmetal with a polished lip, or bronze immediately (like i have the money for that :rolleyes). But the Black STi with silver BBS's, or even gold BBS's on a black scooby, ooOoOo, a white scooby? do the STi's come in white? get one of those with those BBSs rims, and get em gunmetal, that would look sexy!, ok im done haha

The STi I saw today at the track event pushed so hard I'm suprised he kept it on the track. He was turnning in lap times the same as an Acura RSX type S that was only equiped with an intake.

The thing just did not look happy to be on a racetrack.

crappy driver probably, there's a guy at the local auto cross that runs a stock sec gen Eclipse RS that puts in times to rival a really good driver in a stock 350Z and even some of the guys in the Z06 vettes.

There was also a guy in a Viper Venom 500 that ran worse than him too I think...

Well, they were both in the same 'skill level' because that's how they split everybody up at the event. And it's not as if you can make a car not push by being a 'good driver'. I know you can make it go faster, but it was clear from what we all saw that the STi did not make a good track car. Which goes right allong with what all the magazines have been saying about it.

you're right, most mags say the evo8 is a much better track car, the STi has more 'dirt' in her than the evo left behond. However for daily driving and potential, id take the STi

May I ask why? for one as an enthusiast the evo and sti are faster and easier to make faster.

as a human though I wan't to know why if that's your choice why don't you get a g35 coupe? So much more stylish. :D

get one of those new VW's that're coming out, i think the one's that're stealing the R32 label. they're 4wheel drive, about 240-250 hp i think, and less than 2000 lbs, should smoke the subaru and evo.

Well the main reason is due to the fact that the car is only 25K I was looking for a Touring version in Brickstone.I fell in love with the color.I want to stay in the Nissan/Infiniti brand. The G35 coupe W/6-speed is more like 36K Or I would get one of those.I know that both the EVO and STI are faster than the Z but I don't have to have the fastist car.I need something that I can keep for a long time and I don't think that I will get tired of the Z.When its paid off maby Ill do the TT's or a SC upgrade?
