I'd like to learn! But first you have to tell me what a PCR is.greggie195 wrote:That is one angry Canadian! I spent lots of money on my education to, but if someone wants to learn how to do a PCR, I will tell them how!
So when you have a question about something you don't understand prepare to be "eaten" by everyone else here.mightyversa wrote:This all goes to show how people support the Automotive Service Technicians. I see WAY to many people up here doing their own work, wrong most of the time, and they say that labour rates are to high!
I have no problems eating ANYONE out and I have the right to, and here's why:
I spent $15,000 to do a course that gives me apprenticeship in a trade. I have 7 years experience in the trade and have great mechanical abilities. I am not afraid to turn a nut and have the other abilities that make me an asset as an Automotive Service Tecnician. So, what do I think when I see some DIYer doing work to his/her vehicle, taking business away from the industry? I think thats NUTS. I can only imagine what all you other guys are in this life, and maybe you make more than $100,000 a year, I dont know, but in all honesty, if the DIYer had any respect for the trade, they would either go do it themselves or pay to get work done, escpecially when they dont know what they are doing.
I dont even work on my own vehicle, I pay to get work done on it, but some things I know wont be done right and I want to make sure it is, thats why I am doing my own modifications, as of regular brake work n the likes, I pay a Technician the money to do it cause I aint no backyard Mechanic, I am an Automotive Service Technician that has respect for the trade. But I guess most people would rather take the cheap way out than just do that, probably why our insurance rates are still high, along with Labour and parts. Oh well, you guys know everything about the trade (and very little about mechanics) so I will take your word for it.

No, my wife has a Tiida. She also has a few pairs of thong underwear I similarly don't look good in.blind_snyper wrote:

I've never met anyone that's done what you've mentioned that acts like a little d!ck bag to someone asking a simple question.AZhitman wrote:
I'll take you up on that.
In fact, I'll go you one better.
That $15K qualifies you to change oil and taillight bulbs. Sure, you can R & R parts as components based off the FSM instructions.
You can rip on other people when you build something that makes people go "Wow". You can be a jerk when you fabricate your own parts that are no longer avaliable. You can clown on other people's experience when you have a garage full of cars you built yourself, or when you complete a frame-off restoration (or three).
Until then, let's keep the high-and-mighty nonsense to a minimum, because there's not an "Automotive Service Technician" around that can build things from scratch based off their "training". It's all self-taught, and DIY'ers are held in pretty high regard here.
That said, I DO respect your input, just not the tone. I wouldn't pay an "Automotive Service Technician" to work on anything I own, with the exception of maybe HVAC stuff and the ECU tuning I've had done. I do it myself.
Thanks for your other contributions to the thread and the board.
We pick on Codered and stick him in his locker. He is a good sport though and puts up with our crap to continue to grow the Versa forum. Treat him right he cares about you guys.blind_snyper wrote:i would love to see what goes on in the mods forum.
