Thanks, a lot of time, blood and sweat went into that baby.

It's horrible to say, but I'm so happy that he will leave it to me in his Will. LOL...yea...I'm going to hell.

Wow...Nice T-Bird!!

This thread makes me laugh. I work in an office in a hospital now, but around 20 years ago I too had specialized technical training. I went to a tech school to become a certified welder. I worked as a welder for 3 years and I was pretty dang good at it. The company I worked for moved so I lost that job. I haven't touched a welder since. So much for the time and money I spent on that!

Next I went to E.M.T. school. I worked full-time on an ambulance as an E.M.T. for about 6 years. Loved the work but hated the hours and the pay. My certification has been expired now for about 16 years or so.

Why do I mention this? Because if I'm hurt and you want to help me, I don't give a rats @ss if you're "certified" or not. Just stop the bleeding!!!!

LOL!! I'm certified for CPR...I'll save you!! Well, I can get you breathing again but then you'd just bleed out...so...uh...sorry.

But atleast you could weld your wound together if you have a Miller somewhere near by. You'd just have to live with the 3rd degree burns and the other holes you burnt into your body. Plus, you'd probably not have a helmet so you'd blind yourself. Then while trying to get to a hospital you might get run over by a bus stumbling in the street.

Ok...nevermind...that's just a lose-lose situation.

As others stated, the center of the push pins pry up with a screwdriver or trim clip remover. If the pins have not been removed for a long time they are probably encrusted with dirt and so the will be hard to remove. Try speaying them with water, Windex or 409 and let them soak for a minute before trying to remove them. The older the pins get the harder they are to remove. An easy fix is to replace the pins by putting clip nuts on the inner fender panel and bolting the undercover in place. You can use the same size screws as the four on the front of the undercover and that will make it easy to remove next time. It worked for me and I have had the undercover off three times already. Hope this helps.

I'd like to learn! But first you have to tell me what a PCR is.

And if anyone needs workstation/server support help I can help.

PCR?Politically Correct Retort?Poorly Constructed Ricer?Post Cremation Remorse?Poke Caress Run?Pineapple Cider Rum?Pink Champagne Runs?Psychotic Canadian Rampage? <--I think that one fits this thread!

That has been my question as well.I make a fairly decent income...but I own a V and my fiance owns a Mazda 3. We could have purchased nicer cars but our main priority is paying off college (<-- that would my egumoocation) debt and debt incurred by Hurricane Charley of 2004 so we can get a house in the next couple of years. Yet, I still don't go out and keep saying over and over again..."Hey! I make $xxxk a year...I'm a pimp! Look at my hot ride!!" Oh yea, you have a V.

mightyversa wrote:This all goes to show how people support the Automotive Service Technicians. I see WAY to many people up here doing their own work, wrong most of the time, and they say that labour rates are to high!

I have no problems eating ANYONE out and I have the right to, and here's why:

I spent $15,000 to do a course that gives me apprenticeship in a trade. I have 7 years experience in the trade and have great mechanical abilities. I am not afraid to turn a nut and have the other abilities that make me an asset as an Automotive Service Tecnician. So, what do I think when I see some DIYer doing work to his/her vehicle, taking business away from the industry? I think thats NUTS. I can only imagine what all you other guys are in this life, and maybe you make more than $100,000 a year, I dont know, but in all honesty, if the DIYer had any respect for the trade, they would either go do it themselves or pay to get work done, escpecially when they dont know what they are doing.

I dont even work on my own vehicle, I pay to get work done on it, but some things I know wont be done right and I want to make sure it is, thats why I am doing my own modifications, as of regular brake work n the likes, I pay a Technician the money to do it cause I aint no backyard Mechanic, I am an Automotive Service Technician that has respect for the trade. But I guess most people would rather take the cheap way out than just do that, probably why our insurance rates are still high, along with Labour and parts. Oh well, you guys know everything about the trade (and very little about mechanics) so I will take your word for it.
So when you have a question about something you don't understand prepare to be "eaten" by everyone else here.

Love tha car Knightro2! Awesome. I pulled the engine out of an 86 Monte Carlo SS and redid it with my brother when I was 17. Good thing I did it in the States and not Canadia. This SOB might have came after me. Seriously, douche, you're a freakin mechanic.

Mighty Versa,

Many car enthusiasts like to work on their cars. That's why there's a web based forum. So like minded people can share ideas. Most of the maintenance can be done with common tools and is good experience. It allows you know your vehicle.

Most of this stuff isn't complicated surgery. It's turning a wrench to change the oil, change an exhaust, fluid replacement and simple to moderate modifications. You don't need certification to do that. You don't need to pay the dealer $85 an hour to do that.

It doesn't make any financial sense whatsoever. It's cheaper and one can do it themselves.

Do you have a painter come in and paint a room? Some choose to do that. Most get a bucket of paint, some drop cloths, a brush and roller and go at it. Why? It's cheaper and you can do it yourself.

I've also been around guys who can tear down engines and put them back together without "certifications." There are plenty of owners out there who will take their Versa to the dealer for routine maintenance and service.

Good stuff.

I'll leave the "Dude, you drive a Versa" comments to someone else - But it's the first thing that went through my mind.

THE GT-R IS STUPID!

Wait, what forum is this? Whoops, wrong one. Versa forum? eewww! I got the cooties on me.

I just had to come in and see the lad's work. A+ trollwork, I am ready to offer you a position in the 240 general forum as the "new fish". Be nicer to people, it's a forum, and you drive a Versa guy; the attitude is sort of rediculous.

I just got back from school, quite a bit of snow on the roads. Logged on here and saw all the moderators from different forums in here, that's a sign of serious stuff going on in a thread. And it looks like that's the case, but it's a good thing so they can tone things down.

I'll take you up on that.

In fact, I'll go you one better.

That $15K qualifies you to change oil and taillight bulbs. Sure, you can R & R parts as components based off the FSM instructions.

You can rip on other people when you build something that makes people go "Wow". You can be a jerk when you fabricate your own parts that are no longer avaliable. You can clown on other people's experience when you have a garage full of cars you built yourself, or when you complete a frame-off restoration (or three).

Until then, let's keep the high-and-mighty nonsense to a minimum, because there's not an "Automotive Service Technician" around that can build things from scratch based off their "training". It's all self-taught, and DIY'ers are held in pretty high regard here.

That said, I DO respect your input, just not the tone. I wouldn't pay an "Automotive Service Technician" to work on anything I own, with the exception of maybe HVAC stuff and the ECU tuning I've had done. I do it myself.

Thanks for your other contributions to the thread and the board.
I've never met anyone that's done what you've mentioned that acts like a little d!ck bag to someone asking a simple question.

go buy a Yaris and be an elitist d!ck over on a Toyota forum...

I'm clearly late to the party...but damnit, TMS is dead sexy in a banana hammock.

but sorta on topic of the direction the thread turned...This site wasn't ever intended to be a place where enthusiast can come together to throw snide comments and be secretive of certain things that pertain to maintenance/performance of their cars. I for one will NEVER get upset at someone asking a legitimate question about anything that I have knowledge on regardless of my mood. That's just plain old *******. I'm glad the mod staff has plenty of d!ck to screw people like that.

It's like one of those Capital1 card commercials when all the snarling vikings come stampeding in.

The few times I have swung through the Versa forum, I was of course horrified at the ducky and bunny wallpaper and fisher price mobile playing twinkly music but people looked civil and friendly here. This makes trolldom stand in that much more stark contrast.
