mpbclutch33 The dealer if advanced like the one here in south florida, they have a flat to the floor ramp so your car will not scape, but regular shops have the over-the-ground type that you have to be carefull with.My advice to anyone, change the springs and drive the car before do any alignment, I made the mistake to listen to the guy on the shop that changed the springs and did the alignment right there, now I dont know if the drift is cause the springs or the miss alignment, and then had to go to the dealer and ended paying twice for the alignment cause the first one didnt want to honor any adjustments.

Hey guys, i need some quick input on this one.

Im planning to get 18's on my A/C and one of the two:Eibach springs or Stillen lip kit.

Main reason is, stillen lip kit is 1'' lower than stock. If i tack on the lowering springs + lip kit im basically 2.5 inches lower then stock.

I cant decide which one would be better.. I am planning to race the car when summer comes so springs would be nice, but the lip kit.. its sexy.I need some help before the spring deadline arrives.

PS: i cant get both because snow storms in canada bring about.. 3-4 FT of snow. The last snow storm had my car covered, i couldnt see the doors, just the roof and a little bit of the driver side door. And when this happens, its hard enough getting aruond with stock height.

Bah, i think ill do the same thing. With 18 inch rims the gap will look a bit smaller, but i really wanna capitalize on this GB. Im so stuck.

Lip or springs? Lip or springs..

Lip = 2x mroe expensive because i can prob get the springs on myself. So itd cost 200 in the end.

Most definitely springs man!!!!!

Just make sure when you drop it they align it. A lot of people say to wait but you need to take a lot of bolts off that can throw your toe off. It's good to have a little bit of negative camber (more surface area) but the toe has to be right on or you'll be chewing thru tires

Or you can be fancy and have Toyo as a sponsor and get free set of tires every year. No alignment needed! lol

I've been talking to a few friends of mine and some recommended doing an alignment immediately after installing the springs and others stated to do it after 100-150 miles after they settle. What is manufacturer recommended? Anyone have the springs in their hands that know? Stillen/Eibach have a recommendation?

Max,

Not sure if Eibach has an opinion but we can ask them. As for the rule, i'd hazzard a guess that 100 - 150 mile with the alignment off a bit isn't going to result in any significant degradation in terms of wear.

Now, for my experience (and, my mechanic buddies), all of the guys I know in the business say let them settle a bit, not long, just a few days (aka 100+/- miles). They have all confirmed that if anybody can tell that the alignment has been off from looking at the tires then those persons are Gods.

If you're worried, go get it aligned, the reason for waiting is so that you don't have to do alignment twice.

Guys,

OK, I just called Eibach and asked their opinion. Basically, they said either way. But, here are a couple key points.

1) They said wait for alignment if you're planning to do any camber kit work beyond just the springs. In general the Pro-Kit's do not need a camber kit, but if you were to get to that point, they suggest alignment after the camber kit.

2) They don't expect the spring itself to settle. As in, the spring itself will not lose it's resiliency. Therefore if you're worried about the spring itself changing, you shouldn't. Therefore aligning immediately is fine.

3) But, they did acknowledge that some cars require a little time to "Settle" when it comes to the spring fitting into the spring guides/placement of the car (i.e. the lower rear spring arm). The problem is that they don't have any specific make and model list which we can work from and with the A/C so new, they especially do not know anymore on this front than we do.

So, it would appear that we have a toss up. Go now and risk a second pass if settling is a real issue. Wait a bit and loose a little inner tread (very little IMHO) and align anyway.

As usual, when you ask the experts there isn't always a clear answer. Anyway, i've had mine on for enough time, going to do my alignment tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice man, much appreciated. I think I'll go 100-125 miles as mentioned above and then do the alignment!

Wind, appreciate you making the call. I was going to wait until I got back from work, but this makes it much easier!

Makes perfect sense since I wouldn't want to waste cash on an alignment to save little-no tread.

I need a wheel rotation, so why the hell not put the springs on during that and save some cash. I'll then head back a few days later and get an alignment.

Hey guys, remember, regarding the alignment, Fiestone has a lifetime alignment plan.... pay extra when you get it done, and you have FREE ALIGNMENTS for the LIFE OF YOUR CAR!

I am in no way affiliated with Firestone, but I just think its a good deal!

Oh yeah, thanks Wind for calling Eibach, very useful info!

Honestly, don't know. It looks real close to 60% in the back a little bit lighter in the front. Never did ask, wasn't looking to get too dark. The white of the car has an effect on the way it looks though.

After searching for days trying to find a trusted company to do my alignment after I install my springs I'm going with firestone. (I didn't know about the free alignment for the life of the car so I plan on going for that also)
