so i start work on my A-Kon costume a little late, but for some odd reason, its going pretty fast. i've only been working for 2 days, and here is what i have so far....

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/...8.jpg

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/...rc=ph

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/...rc=ph

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/...rc=ph

now, before i get flamed for the crappiness of the costume, its supposed to look like this. its kind of a mockery to all the fanboys at akon who take things way to seriously. we're going to pass it off as gundam wing ;) and act like we're serious and think it looks good.

i remember at katsucon 6 (which was the premier of the hall prizes) i did up a great costume of tenkawa akito from Nadesico. Some a$$ wearing a bunch of boxes said he was Optimus Prime, and had to write it on the box with marker, got a freaking hall prize. I did not.

I'm in the yellow.

I love the idea, I hate how the new anime craze and the nerdiness has taken away from the original meaning of anime...

exactly. i remember getting into it back in the 6th grade. it was really cool the and really underground. then CN started showing it all the time and all these kids started watching it and running around acting like they're experts when the only thing they've seen is gundam wing. i remember one year these kids were walking aorund in gundam outfits calling each other names from the show. man, the first few years at a-kon, it was bad ***, then after CN got into anime, it was nothing but gundam wing and tenchi **** at the tables. thus, i made this costume to piss off all the fanboys. if i go around acting sincere and they think im a moron, they're going to be quite surprised. lets see, this, on top of our anti-furry campaign and last years improv art table that stole 90% of the other artists business, i think we hve a good chance of getting banned from a-kon. man its gonna be great.

BTW, im going to try and finish most of the helmet tonight, and maybe the forearms. i want to get most of the robot done by the beginning of next week so i have time to make changes. will post pics to keep you guys updated.

Talk about underground, I've been fortunate enough to have anime most of my life (Mexico started showing long time ago) and am intrigued by the plots that many quality animes show. I also discovered DC about 4 years ago and have kept a consistent collection :pface. Newbies in the other hand just care about quantity (pokemon, digimon, crapamon, they just don't care). And don't even get me started with cartoon network. I wouldn't watch anime from them even if I was getting paid...(censored, plot changed, humor, remarks, etc...) :pface
