Put a period after gasket. Explain in a full sentence what is not a problem.

Look at your call log and figure out exactly when you contacted them. You don't want to give them a guess. Be precise.
PapaSmurf2k3 wrote:I have actually already done some work- such as changing the oil, reconnecting the major ground wire, and changing out the oil pressure sending unit......He never called me back to tell me which sensor was responsible for the low oil light, so I did my own research and changed it out on the morning of April 7th.
Make sure you ask for reimbursement for the cost of the parts you had to buy out of pocket to try and get the car to run.

Don't touch the car.

Park it, drive the Miata, and await restitution.

Ok, thanks Greg and Becky!

I'm tempted to spin off the oil filter on there and see if there are chunks of gasket or something, but I'll hold off.

Still haven't heard anything back from them.

As part of the paperwork required for my credit card, I called Wolfchase Honda in Germantown for a quote of the same work done. They said they would email it to me, but I haven't gotten anything from them yet either. wtf?

Eveyone is off for the weekend, I think thats why the ish hasn't hit the fan yet?

Ill be honest, I wouldn't have brought it to a dealership in the first place. Dealer ships are great for new cars, but for something so old, they probably have not seen a prelude like yours in 5 years. You really might have been better off getting the parts yourself, and bringing the car to a speacialty shop. Someone who knows the B and H series honda engines well. A lot of dealer mechanics are sort of spoiled, they rarely see anything with more than warrenty mileage. They get used to working on clean new cars.

Unfortunately there aren't any specialty shops anywhere near me, or else I definitely would have done that.

Maybe a few for mustangs and camaros or something, but not for Hondas.

I called Wolfchase honda again today and asked about my quote. The service writer (Dexter) said that he hasn't had time to email it to me since Saturday, but could send it in a fax.

Guess I gotta go find a fax machine somewhere.

Damnitt, my 1991 Honda Beat's exhaust just broke off and my frame rails rusted through. I'm going to need a trustworthy shop like Dobbs Honda to help me out.

I really want someone to call Brady Hutchison at Dobbs Honda, and book their Honda in for repair, for a broken Vtec.

"Nah dude, the Vtec is broken! There's no Vtec kickin' in yo!"

Got the quote from Wolfchase Honda... it has a bunch of stuff I didn't want on it, and was missing a bunch of stuff I told him to put on. It also didn't have a price quote on it, just a bunch of random numbers, none of which added up to a final tally.

I think I'm giving up on this area. I called my old Honda dealership in Warwick, RI (Majestic Honda) and am having them make a quote for me. The service guy I had on the phone there already sounds like he's got double the IQ of any of the ones I've talked to here.

...so who made some appointments today?

FYI, so far every dealership I've had quote me has tried to sell me the entire VTEC assemblies, even though I just asked for the gasket.Honda has never had a documented case of an undamaged VTEC solenoid failing. Something like over 99% of the time, its just the filter screen getting slightly clogged. I made a thread about it here: zerothread?id=397339

I have a 09 Odyssey with a squeak in the dash and the A/C smells like BO.

The lady was real nice, I have an appointment for service Thursday at 8 am.

...AND I've scheduled a shuttle to work (I used the other dealership address as my workplace since I had to think fast, lol).

Bump

I know the forums are hella slow, but lets keep the ball rolling.

I got my quote from Majestic Honda today, and wouldn't you know it, it isn't correct. They forgot to include the front main seal on it. I emailed them back, and haven't gotten anything yet. It is definitely more organized than the one I got from Wolfchase though. Wolfchase still hasn't emailed me or faxed me the "fixed" copy that they were supposed to. Eff em.
