Do they know why you're asking for the quotes? If they know you're just getting the quotes for legal purposes, they probably don't care...

I called. Sounding very backwoods and irate. They took it seriously...I mean, it IS Memphis after all.

"The dadgum gone gas gone and goes out the tank when i fillerup at dem der gas station. I gots me a two thousund and one Honduh Odyssey caravan, and my kids Ershel and Thomas need to get to their basketball practice and I gotta gets my wife to work. I want dis here fixed now."

They offered me an appointment for Friday. I replied,

"I dont think you gettin me right here. Is you even listenin'? My boys need to go to play ball. Now yous cant help me out, I go and find me 'nother guy who wants my money."

I have an appointment on Thursday at 9:30am.

Oh, and did this thread and story end up on other boards yet? I can spread some fun word to the sketchiest Honda forums for some thug talk.

Even though I'll never be in the area, I am certainly glad that I know Dobbs Honda in Memphis, TN is full of ripoff artists. Remember, google weighs pages also based on the content of links TO them, so get this posted on other web sites, blogs, personal pages, whatever.

Definitely not of the magnitude of Dollyman, but I DID get my final piece of the puzzle for my credit card company today. If you remember, I had to call Rhode Island to get a damn quote for the work that was done to my car, and they left off the front main seal on the quote.
I called the dude today and he was like "oh yeah, that was included... its like a nothing job once you're that deep into the engine", which, is what I had been trying to explain to Brady "f***" Hutchison at Dobbs Honda in Memphis for quite some time. Also tried explaining it to Wolfchase Honda in Memphis, to no avail. I STILL haven't received my revised quote from Wolfchase. I don't really expect to now either.

I'll be sending out my packet/bundle of information to the credit card company tonight. I might call them tomorrow and find out what the next step is, and if I should start tearing into the car more.

PapaSmurf, I was thinking about this thread the other day... Seeing as corporate did nothing for you, have you considered getting the local media involved if need be? The last thing that Brady Hutchinson and Dobbs Honda want are their names all over the evening news; and I'm pretty sure that they would make an effort to rectify the situation if that were the case.

Nah, that sounds like more hassle than its worth. I'll probably just end up doing what a few people suggested, and sending Honda Corporate a letter.

do a NICO search for dollyman, include post bodies. Hell, you could probably do a google search and have it come up no problem.

So has anyone actually gotten a call back from them after skipping out on their appointment?

Nope, I give them BS phone numbers.
I also make sure the appointment is no longer then an hour or so after the call.
If they call to make sure I am coming, it is too late.

Dobbs Honda in Memphis probably has no clue what is happening on the web. With this economy you would think they would try and take care of their customers instead of pissing them off with poor work and underhandedness.

That's what I would figure too... but here I am... with a busted a** car, due to the lower than sub par work done by Dobbs Honda, and the lower than sub par customer service from Brady Hutchison.

I think I'm going to start attacking the car today. There really isn't any reason for me not to. Obviously I'm more qualified to work on the car than they are, and also more qualified in diagnostics and repair. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a paid mechanic for 4 years. I'll take pics of anything I find.

Pulled the filter today. No large gasket chunks in there, but I did see some small metal particulate matter. Again, the oil smelled kinda funky, so I drained the filter into an old (washed) milk jug to save in the event I need to do some sort of chemical analysis on it.

In order to drop the oil pan, I'm going to have to drop the front exhaust... which would mean I'd have to remove the nuts from the old exhaust manifold studs that Dobbs Honda and Brady Hutchison said they replaced.I'd also have to get a new exhaust manifold gasket that Brady Hutchison and Dobbs Honda actually did replace. That is a lot to do if I'm just hoping that there is something in there blocking the oil pickup... but if there isn't anything, this is the procedure to replace the oil pump:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4508321_replace ... elude.html

According to those directions, I'd have to undo EVERYTHING that Dobbs Honda and Brady Hutchison said they did, with the exception of the head gasket, rebuilding the head, and the VTEC associated gaskets. Demanding a new engine sounds better and better. I'd rather do an entire engine swap than do this crap.

I guess I'll start by just dropping the exhaust and the pan.

Record the amount of torque required to undo those bolts. I mean video record that b**** with some thing that reads out torque numbers applied.
Pictures and video record EVERY THING. There is never enough evidence.

Looks like I'll probably have to pull the radiator as well. I probably don't HAVE to, but it looks like it will make things a lot easier. There are 2 support brackets from the block to the exhaust manifold. Looks like Dobbs Honda boogered up the 2 bolts closest to the manifold, leaving them stripped and mangled, so I'll have to remove the 2 from the block.

I keep coming in hoping for good news. This type of crap is the reason I don't let shops do anything but bodywork on my cars...
