Pulled the filter today. No large gasket chunks in there, but I did see some small metal particulate matter. Again, the oil smelled kinda funky, so I drained the filter into an old (washed) milk jug to save in the event I need to do some sort of chemical analysis on it.
In order to drop the oil pan, I'm going to have to drop the front exhaust... which would mean I'd have to remove the nuts from the old exhaust manifold studs that Dobbs Honda and Brady Hutchison said they replaced.I'd also have to get a new exhaust manifold gasket that Brady Hutchison and Dobbs Honda actually did replace. That is a lot to do if I'm just hoping that there is something in there blocking the oil pickup... but if there isn't anything, this is the procedure to replace the oil pump:

According to those directions, I'd have to undo EVERYTHING that Dobbs Honda and Brady Hutchison said they did, with the exception of the head gasket, rebuilding the head, and the VTEC associated gaskets. Demanding a new engine sounds better and better. I'd rather do an entire engine swap than do this crap.
I guess I'll start by just dropping the exhaust and the pan.
