Yeah I worked in Mid-town Manhattan for 2 years and I live in Philadelphia. 71 Miles tolls are about 10 bucks from the city.

If they weren't trying to be sneaky, they would have simply contacted me like Blogs, News agancies and forums do when they want to use something I shot.

Instead, they erased my watermark and tried to use it under the radar.

This image would have also been taken out of the meet thread that it was for.

Hissy fit, copy right arguements,.....your damn right.I am spending my time tracking down a few photos a month. But this is the most blatant use of a stolen image.Usually its a mistake due to the car owner giving the image away and not checking with me. then it being used.

I shoot alot of photos.Spend hours in photoshop.shoot Pro Drift events.amatuer events.and more hours on photoshop.

I rarely get paid anything for this on the rare occation it pays.An event is usually followed by at least 10 hours of photoshop minimum.

So you see why I am so pissed when someone blatently takes a photo..............

I appriciate you taking it down and putting the wheels in motion with the people who are posting the image.

Gee, panic much?

My good friend Mike Maez, is a pro photographer, and never freaks out like that.

Key word being "pro".

Eric, you're right that we're responsible for maintaining the order here - But if we don't know, we can't address it.

If you haven't noticed, this is a bigass site. 200,000+ pageviews per day. One pic isn't gonna pop up on a staff member's radar.

Freaking out like someone stole your lollipop is probably not the way to go about these things in the future.

ANy one of my staff could have addressed this without all the drama and smacktalk.

With as well-connected in the industry as we are, keep this in mind: In your line of work, be careful who you badmouth - They just might be the people writing your paycheck someday.

Wow man, you totally freaked out. Google owns your image once you upload it and it is then free for anyone to use. Maybe keep your photos more secure? Sorry you got so upset over it.

Panic, no.Really pissed, yes

Yeah, great Wedding photos.I'm sure it would rui9n his day if once every month or more, he was finding his photos being used, with his water mark removed, for someone elses wedding photography.

I sent a message through the system.doesnt mean I dont want to lay into the people responsable. And with the size of the site, I am not sure how long it would take you to get to my little problem.I got a reply this morning from "Repo".thankyou.i also was contacted by the person who used the photo.thankyou.
AZhitman wrote:Freaking out like someone stole your lollipop is probably not the way to go about these things in the future.
thanks dad.And talking down to someone with a lollipop comment thats meant to belittle someone isnt the same thing??

I work in the movie industry as a Cinematographer and Gaffer.Nissan may cut my checks if i am on a commercial for them. But I really doubt NICO will.

Most likely, I will be the person you may be asking and working with for Media purposes in the future, revolving around S-chasis and Drift events.

The only person that was "badmouthed", or verbally beat down as I would say, was the people responsable for the unotherized use of my work.As I stated above, I think NICO is an amazingly useful site. Its just actions of the members that tarnish its name.
Stripes wrote:

Of course I did.My hard work was stolen and used.I never uploaded my picture to google by the way.Google doesnt own photobucket, Fox Media does if I remember.and anyways, It doesnt mean that someone can take a google image and use it either.

Unfortunatly, I may have to start putting my watermark across the entire photo as a way to avoid constantly having to track these photos down and halt the unotherized use.

Its just very unfortunate that no one from any of the events I shoot would be able to have a clean looking picture to be proud of, because there will be a giant watermark across the whole thing.

Watermarks suck, and ruin the photo for anyone. Thats why I have been avoiding it, but it may be unavoidable

I came off harsh, yes. did i have the right too? I feel so.I usually am a bit more tackfull with this stuff.but as It is a continuing problem, I am loosing patients. It was really the last thing I needed after a bad day on an empty stomach.so I decided to let it rip.

to the people I pointed out, thankyou for the apologetic email.hope to see you at the giant 240 meet here in SoCal in 2010.

Kev, let slow this down a bit, I really feel that the FDR location needs to be reconsidered. It is way too congested and not a car friendly park. I have looked in the Fort Washington State Park which is near the PA Turnpike, and they're okay with a gathering, we can rent the Pavillion to secure the area for the day for like $65.00. There are picnic tables and parbecue pits. If you all want to arrange a "Go See" I'm happy to show, I will post a map later...

And by the way, I already have a banner ready to go as soon as we lock in the location, using "MY" images. Greg, if you want to approve before I post please let me know who to send it to.

Many thank, Kal

Mike's done the Modified Mag covers for the past couple years, over 40 other national magazine covers and hundreds of pages of editorial produced over the past six years.... and God knows what other accomplishments.

Yes, they can. Public domain.

Some simple web tools can prevent copying / saving your images. Mike can show you how, he's a nice guy.

Agreed, but unless your pictures are being used for commercial purposes, there's really no reason to get upset... No one's profiting off your work in this instance.

I'd be kicking someone's a$$ FOR you if a business was using your pics to sell a product, trust me.

I live in willow grove which is like 3 minutes from fort washington. The upper dublin police are major d!ck. If this meet was going to go down there, the cops would jump at the first thing anybody does wong. Not to mention the police station being 10-15 minutes away

It doesn't matter where we are, if people behave like idiots. we're going be harassed by the police. Fort Washington Park is a State Park like FDR, so you can't be revving your motors and doing burnouts you are going attract the police attention. If that's what you mean by "anybody does wrong".

That is about 1000x better than the wedding site that pops up first when you google his name, lol

i disagree. And there are still giant debates and court s*** over that. But i dont have the money to fight that fight.eventually it will figure itself out.the internetz has so much grey area.

Facebook on the other hand owns anything you put on their forever, as of last week.they changed their rules.

they aren't actually.but we will see on the day.I wont pull the amount of favors if I am not given control of the project.I should probably star talks back up about this project too though.PM me if you want to talk in more detail about it.I have talk to some other forum people about it.

Its just gonna suck if I have to use a flickr account or my own website for this stuff.I am not pursueing photography at this time, and it wont be motorsports when i do.
