Thanks guys

Next weekend should see the initial firing up of the thing, but with 440's and a Z32 afm as a base setup (to check for any issues that may pop up) and to get heads around the software with 1000's and the sct lightning afm..

I have ordered a wideband 02 that will interface with nistune to bung into the exhaust, so no need for a dyno which is great..

However, the turbo setup may change in the near future... lol

Innovate rocks. I just made a post in gen chat about their awesome-ness.

I have the LC-1. I've used others and nothing can touch it IMHO.

Sorry I havent responded guys..

I have been flat stick with last minute preparations...

I have ordered a tech edge product.. Will interface directly into nistune via my carpc serial RS232 port...

http://www.wbo2.com/2j/default.htm

If it arrives in time, it will be fired up on saturday (bar any issues arising), aside from welding the exhaust bung in, its ready to start...

Cheers...

Matt

Fair call lol...

If you let me know what you want to see specifically, i will be happy to accomodate

I have over 500 different photos of this build + car and there is literally heaps of information I have collected and discovered, it's hard to put it all up without actually knowing what people would like to see or know..

One thing though, is that there will be some improvements here and there once its run in, and I understand how it actually performs...

Typically the turbo setup is something that is really occupying my thoughts at the moment.. I have spent a few months researching a few other designs and technologies, it has been a mission just to get my head around some of the equations lol...

there are a couple things im specifically intersted in, but the biggest thing right now, is how you wired up your wideband do work with the nistune.

Im trying to wire up my AEM UEGO to work in conjunction with my nistune and cannot figure out what to do... Matt at nistune has not been very helpful, he just sent me the UEGO Handbook itself... im not very good with wiring so id like as much clarity as possible.

Im pretty sure from wideband to wideband, the connection with the Nistune will be the same, 4 wires... Power (already hooked up) Ground (already hooked up) 0-5v Output and Serial Output...

email me if you can please. Ive been lucky this week being able to check forums at my moms, but thats not gonna be always as easy at the moment.

THANKS!

Yep no problems, we will be wiring it in this evening, or tomorrow...

I will take some photos, but it is a bosch sensor with the techedge product that interfaces with nistune through RS232 on the pc com1...

My understanding is the nistune software has the code imbedded for the techedge product..

I am uncertain of the uego, as I didn't look into any other product as my tuner has previously bought the wb sensors through the supplier in the link in an above post, but the wiring itself should be similar...

Wait, does the nistune drive the wideband directly, or are you just connecting your analog output from the wideband to an input on the nistune?

Phil (or anybody), link me the info about it on on nistune and I'll see if I can clarify it for you.

The nistune software interfaces directly with the techedge software through the rs232 connection. Other than the positive and negative for the heating of the sensor, but no other wires are used..

I should explain further, I have a pentium 4 carpc with a licence of the nistune software. My ecu has a USB plug that I plug into the car pc so the maps etc can be changed and uploaded on the fly..

So all I have to do is connect the supplied rs232 cable from the techedge pcb to the com1 port on the pc, and the nistune software does the rest...

If I didn't have this setup, I would have to splice in the analogue wiring into the ecu wiring itself...

Hope this makes sense

Well, good news and bad news... First the good news..

I had a few beers and some really, really, good pizza on Friday night with my tuner (Sam) and another mate (Hoji) before Hoji's precise hands swapped the injectors over... lol

The computer is in and has a startup map...

In the last stages of prepping before the initial fire up to bed the cams in, we hit a few snags..

Snag 1)

A couple of coolant leaks, easy fixed with some more tightening of clamps around the heater box in/out as the braided line feels different to rubber line when tightening...

There is a leak on one of the -12 fittings, which looks ike it is coming from the full flow side, indicating a fault in the fitting doh!..

Snag 2) No injector pulse, I need to retrace my wiring there, no biggie just time consuming to redo..

Snag 3) I blew out the microtech ignitor lol... I have checked the wiring and it is wired up fine, this could indicate a couple of things:

a) The microtech on its own is inadequate in providing the initial voltage for the coil trigger input, based on the size of the coils and possibly two are required..

b) There is a discrepancy between the design of the microtech ignitor and the coil design, based on the type of spark edge the microtech is designed to produce (ie rising or falling - waveform polarity)..

I am leaning towards b...

If everything was apples, I would have been uploading an initial start video, but alas, no can do just yet..

I will spend this week rectifying the issues, and should hopefully have some answers lol..

Cheers

frankly Im shocked that you havent had more hold backs as it is.

look forward to seeing you work out the last of the kinks.

Just be glad you have not suffered through my build my friend. Ive been at it longer than you and have had a lot more problems than you have seemed to. I'm finally down to a few little bits left, but have no income and I'm struggling to make it to the next week right now so the car is waiting. I can only do with what I've already got, and that is the paint. so everyone will probably see my car freshly painted before its running properly once again haha

I am confident I have found the cause of the destruction of the microtech, the ProComp coils that I have are based on Capacitive Discharge Ignition (CDI). So in my previous post, theory b. was the culprit lol.. (thanks to sam for pointing me in the right direction)

After an excellent discussion with a tech guru from microtech, it was explained that the X4 would not have been compatible with the coils and it would have melted the components in seconds (this is pretty well what happened when testing)..

So I now have in theory a workable solution..

I have purchased another X4 ignitor module to use, I am about to purchase an MSD DIS-4 HO (PN: 62153) for compatibilty for the coils (has some value added features too that will come in handy).

The microtech will integrate into the factory wiring, like I previously had it, however it will feed the trigger inputs into the DIS-4 to power the coils. The microtech guru explained that the DIS-4 likes a positive trigger (remember the CA uses negative trigger factory), the X4 will actually convert the signal into a postive trigger automatically feeding into the DIS-4.

So once I acquire the bits, it should hopefully resolve that issue....

I just noticed this thread has more views than the FAQ. That's funny to me, LOL [/offtopic]

Thanks lee, called Milanco last week...

I am still waiting on the msd gear to arrive from the US, unfortunately some other gear on the same order has been delayed, so they cant ship yet..

So once it all arrives I will need to wire it up and test it... but yeah I am keen to finish it asap...
