Well, the thing turns over... which is a good start... Electrics check out fine so far, I have an issue with the brake light switch now, probably extend time without operation lol... I have finished off most of the wiring, ecu should be in transit so I can perform a sensor check as soon as it arrives...

Still need to finish fabbing the ic pipework and the exhaust pipework, but other than that its just about ready to roll..

Cheers :D

No worries, was happy to be of service..

Unfortunately australia post advised it was far to big to ship via ems..

So the best I can do is send you a printed 6x4, but I will make sure it is of the highest quality photo paper, it is the least I can do..

Now where did I leave that address of yours

can you post a closer pic of how you mounted your cas wires so they wont get eaten by the pulleys.

I have stalled again lol... Stalled due to ordering a couple more bits of gear..

Couple of things have changed slightly..

Thanks to a mates brilliant suggestion, I will be changing the intercooler pipe routing on the inlet side so it exists the turbo to the passenger side and flows down to the intercooler rather than up and over from the bottom... This means I change the position of the power steering res to behind the strut tower, close to the exhaust, but once the exhaust is wrapped it should be fine as its still +50mm from the exhaust itself..

These bad boys turned up last week..

These are the new HDI clamps that are similar in principal to wiggins clamps, these are used for IC pipe-work, you weld one section to each end, two rubber orings slot into machined lips, slot the female side into the oringed side and clamp up using the well designed clamps, no screws, no pop offs and will handle a stupid amount of pressure..

The drawback is I am unsure how much flex I will get with them, HDI say 2* each way of flex, so I am using silicone joins off the intercooler itself, if I find later on down the track there is enough flex in them, I will add them to the IC itself..

I have ordered this AFM to suit, all theory and data suggests the Z32 will max out on resolution, so had to find another alternative.. One alternative I really wanted to experiment with was a dual AFM setup, but after some discussion about it with a few people this seemed to be the better alternative in the end..

http://www.atomicperformance.c....HTML

And this is my first ever mig job...

Don't care if the welds aren't that nice looking, it will be wrapped in the areas that will be seen and I got good penetration and it doesn't leak... but I am proud of it lol.... another skill I am learning as part of this project.. ^_^

Not much else going on until I get some more gear in... so stay tuned...

Cheers B)

Hey Meminto, sorry if its a little bit of a thread jack, but do you have the part # for those Arias pistons? They have the correct valve reliefs and notches for the oil squirters?

And could you fill me in on the grout filling of the block?

Thanks buddy.

P.S. get that car on the dyno.

no dramas mate, I will see if I can find the part number. Unfortunately arias don't make the same piston style with largervalve relief any longer.

The grout was used to fill the water jackets up to the bottom of thewelsch plugs, water still flows around the tops of the bores.

Mainly used to stop the bores from flexing....

On a side note I finally have the flowbench graph that shows the stock 8 port flow (with butterflies) in comparison to the new flow of each port.

As my brother would say "when I saw it, it gave me a fat a cat couldn't scratch" lol

I will post it up when I have access to a scanner

How does the grout filling affect cooling? Will it run hotter because of the reduction in size of the coolant passages? I would be afraid grout would gum up the water pump or radiator or something.

Thanks mate.

I also had some concerns about the heat. I talked to my engineer about it, as he advised it would be better to suit the build.

As the explosion is happening at the top of the cylinder, most of the heat is generated in that area. So the water still flows around the tops of the pistons for cooling. On the builds that he has performed he has noticed that the grout acts as a semi-quasi heatsink that has dropped water temps.

The grout won't gum up as it is like tilers grout. Once it sets it's like cement.

But it does put more weight in the block as a tradeoff.

I assume there is a certain type of grout for putting in engines? Also, do you know the numbers as far as how much the amount of grout you used weighs?

Yeah it would be a special type, not sure of the brand though...

Unfortunatley it was an afterthought to find out the weight, my engineer might keep records of weight as he is very succinct in his work, I will ask...

However, I did notice a difference when putting the motor back in compared to taking it out...

moroso makes a block filler. You can get it from summit racing and probably jegs.

Another quick update...

Spent some time this weekend on the exhaust, fitting up the return for the wastegate, i have a bit more welding to do then it is all good.....

The AFM arrived and I had a couple of reducers welded to it that i picked up last week, I haven't remounted the sensor component just yet as I have more welding to take care of..

I still have a lot of cleaning up to do before the welded bits are finished, plus wrapping of the dump pipe itself... But it wont take too long once I have pulled the old finger out..

Angle grinders are also bad, I was very lucky this arvo, I now have a 4mm wide, by 2mm deep cut on my left index finge right near the knuckle from a microsecond brush against the spinning grinding disc, careless on my part lol, but just goes to show what can happen when you don't pay attention...

Not much else going on, the tuning will happen in late august now, although as long as some ducks line up for me in the next two weeks the car should be ready to fire up for initial preflight check..

Cheers

so, its been a long time since i've seen this build thread, last time i checked you were doing your fuel lines and pump set up... holy christ have you come a long way since then, cheers on your progress, i'm stoked for some videos and dyno sheets..

i know you dont like letting the cat out of the bag so to speak, but any estimated HP??
