No anyone running a lower compression ratio will get worse gas milage then they did before... tuning? what did you tune your car for huh? high hp or daily driving? you cant tune your car for both.... what idiot tunes their car for use without a turbo even when he has one on... bigger injectors mean more is being sprayed... lower compression ratio means more is being sprayed... sure you can turn boost down and change the amoutn of fuel being sprayed but your still spraying moe gas then your were naturally aspirated, and if your not, your hp even for dd goes down the tubes.... are you saying ytou can magically tune your car at a stoplight when you want fuel eco over power? give me a break... some changes are permanent... and permaently change the amount of fuel you spray PERIOD...

Not at all man, I was just pointing out that for an older guy, his lingo's kinda...well....weird for an old guy. Think of what it would be like if your dad spoke like that. I dunno how old he is, maybe if he's like one of those old beach bum hippy guys then I guess its cool. If anything, the older you are, the cooler your car should be. Think about it, older people have a hell of a lot more money. And if they're into cars, they usually have more knowledge and experience. My dad still drives around in a 93 caravan, and it kills me because he's wanted a porsche all his life and he could totally afford it, but he keeps blubbering about the van being more practical. I wouldn't be caught dead in a minivan when I'm older, I just wanna see how far I can take my civic and 240 by the time I'm like 30. Hell I hope they're around for my kids to appericiate them at least.

Ok yes i ran 8to1 compression maybe there was a little loss in gas milage, but i could not tell. When i sold my turbo set I ran my car for 5 months with 8to1 compression and it got just the same gas milage as it was turbo and stock. I guess you do not understand the tunning part, YES a car can be tunned for high hp and good gas milage. Tell me why it cant!! Ok ill explain one more time. or how about you look at fuel graph for a hondata setup. The ok lets say that at 4000rpm the boost is at 1psi and the fuel is at 30%, or at 4000rpm the boost is at 5psi and the fuel is now 55% to make up for the additional boost. So why cant you drive the car with the boost turned down? making the ecu only read of the lower boost table for the fuel???? well you can!!!! thats the point of hondata!! You will see when/if the nissandata comes out, theres nothing like driving and getting 25plus mpg and then pulling up to a stop light and stomping a z28 with ease. And no i did not reprogram my ecu while the light was changing color. Do you think all these people drving 250plus hp civic get bad gas millage all the time? Crazy fuel is needed for HP if you not making HP then you do not need crazy fuel. Oh and bret rau?? whos he? has the fastest dsm in the countryhttp://www.nhrasportcompact.co....htmlwhos his crew cheif??? Isaac Hurst my tunermaybe this pics rings a bell?Oh and he will be tunning my sr20det when its all in and done. Hum i hope it does not get the gas milage of a v8 all the time, man i should have gotten a stang if it was going to be like this.oh and last thing before i go to bed, if you still dont believe me you can call him at Elite Autosport heres the number 1-612-521-0550 and ask for issac then ask him what gas millage the 480 hp gsr that he just built gets during normal driving , im sure its no where near what a v8 gets. And once again I ask why would it be? Oh owner of the car is nick tompson do you want his IM info too. Im not trying to be an ***, but the best part of a turbo car is that you can get great gas milage when out of boost and still make power when you want it. Heres teh pick of brents car (older pic)

I dunno, obviously it's a misconception i've had... but was almost positive that a car thats running no boost on a turbo set up is going to go thorugh mad gas... obviously i've never heard of this hondata ting... tell me more about it.... but in a way im kinda relieved to know that, because the biggest thing i was worried about for my car was poor gas milage... but i guess thats not the case. I stand corrected... Tell me more about this hondata ting..

No bigie man, a hondata is just a ecu add on that alow the honda ecu to be able to read boost and a few other thing like change rev limit, vtec, all that stuff. Teh system is tuned on a dyno just like any other good setup and there is a replacable chip thats in the ecu that hold the fuel, timing maps. All or should i say most turbo cars (including hondata hondas) use a 3 or more level feul map. So for the car to figure out what it need to use for fuel it look for sensor reading and compares them to a map or fuel table. Say you have an eclipse an you get the car to 5500rpm at full throttle, your gonna have full boost and the ecu will base what amount of fuel to use. So at that level its using alot of fuel. Now that the same car at 5500rpm and only old the pedel down just enogh to keep the car at 5500rpm, the car with now have 0-3psi of boost, so the ecu see's that and only gives the fuel needed for piece of the table. Here check this post on one of there cars. Hope this helps ya out manhttp://hondata.com/dynogsrturbo.htmlif you have a good tunner he can get 30mpg out of a turbo b16 that make 250pluss hp with no problem. I drove my car from south carolina to north dakota with the boost set at 3psi and teh car got about 30mpg the whole way, and even though that boost was set at 3psi i never punched it so the turbo never had time to spool up and make boost, there for the ecu added no extra fuel. Also most tuners use a stock honda fuel map to run the car when out of boost, it is just adjusted to run bigger injectors. I see what you thought, biger injectors mean more fuel, but that only if you need it, you can awyas turn them down so they put ot the same fuel as stock one do.oh heres the site hondata.com

Is there a way you can a LCD controller unit inside the car, so that for daily driving you can have preset amounts of boost you want... 1) for street driving 2) for racing? so that you can change your boost setting automatically at the touch of a button... by this i mean, with the boost setting on #1 (street driving) no matter how hard you push the car the boost remains at 0 psi untill you hit the race button, where the car suddenly changes its boost levels to 14 or whatever...

I've decided i want one.. :)

Honda's can be great for 1/4 mile, or for daily driver but thats about it. Its not that hard to get a civic to low 13's, just drop a gsr motor into a hatch, for the same price you could drop an sr into a 240, but the 240 isn't exactly a great drag racing car. Stock swap, you will probably see low 14's. But what it comes down to is the 240 is far more fun to drive. I have a friend with a 93 civic hatch swapped, and its alot faster then my 240, but he always wants to drive my car. The 240 has amazing handling, is rwd, i have lsd. I cant think of a car that would be more fun to drive, or looks half as good in around the same price range.

well the boost can only go as low as the wastegate spring no matter what boost controller you get. I ran a tial 35mm with a 3psi spring. However a boost controler can turn the boost up to what ever the turbo will produce. I had the turboxs dual stage on my civic and i pulled it out to put it in the nissan, its a great little piece. It has 2 settings that can be adjusted with ease. then there a dash mounted togle switch so you can change between each boost setting. It even works under full boost.its setup like this

And why did i sell my turbo civic? This is the reason. The RWD rules in the fun factor!

yea, the kid with the 93 civic hatch is trying to sell his car. he just got a 91 240, and has a sr20det on the way supposibly. I wont believe him untill i see it, but im glad he finally realized the 240 is more fun.

thats crazy, i sold my 2000 ex with si swap and i got a 92 nissan 240 coupe. My sr20det is on the way to. Afterdark tunning style. Shold be here in JAN i hope. I got a show coming up. But i didnot give up on hondas, i also have a 92 dx hatch, but I wanna get the nissan done first. And i have a 98 crv. But yeah alot of people are jumping ship from honda, I guess tis the rwd thing, or that its kinda new. Oh and the other thing is that no matter what the civic does not have a sports car interrior, cause its not a sports car. where the 240 is slick inside

The only problem i have with people from honda going rwd, is that the do exactly the same thing they did to their hondas, to the nissans... the last thing i want to see is a bunch of riced out 240s around... but that doesn't go for all honda memebers...

(ahem) responding up a few posts... One of my friends raced a guy with a hondata... I say its pretty close to cheating. Whats the fun of shifting when all the works done for you :) All that guy did was keep it floored the entire time

LOL, I was thinking about getting a 99-00 honda civic SI and supercharge that b itch after my 97 honda civic EX with Si swap, nitrous was stolen. After watching Initial D, I want to go up to a newer level. I broke 2 axles, 1 17" BBS rim from trying to drift with a FWD, hence my civic...poor thing. Now, I'm getting a 240sx because I dont see anyone driving it around like people in Hondas. Also, 240sx can be fast in a drag line and drifting. Something different, something that thieves don't keep an eye on, that's why I'm getting a 96, 240sx.

Oh Freak, I hope you're talking about them poor kids that are new to honda. ANYONE that has a powerful honda, which shown that they know about cars, there more, they are different from the rest. What you are saying is that people will never changed, even what car they are going to own, in this case, a 240sx. I've seen only one 96 240sx that i was going to buy that is riced out. Rims that are bent, silvia emblem on the back, and stock exhaust...Most people drive any car that are ricers, only in your eye. Some, obviously shown, some has a cool method of suping up cars. Like you said, it doesn't go for all honda members, but neither for all OTHER members.

Freak: No it doesnt do the actual "shifting" for you but eliminates the need for throttle control (the hard part) of shifting. Keep it floored at the line, floored on take off, floored while shifting, floored till your done. It keeps your rpms where they need to be through pre programed points... So basically all you have to do is move the shifter around a lil when it hits redline then sit back and watch the ride...cheating yes but if they come out with nisdata ill have to get one :)

I laughed at one guys sentra gtr while i drove by and he got mad and tried reving on me, but i guess he forgot his 4 dr sentra is a bit lacking in the power side :) Anyways just goes to show you any car can be riced... bmws are now getting targeted by the rich ones...

Im not trying to say only honda owners... but down hee they are the majority.... 89 so even when he has the clutch down the rpms stay the same while his foot is still on the gas? wtf is that... thats gay... its takes away all the skill part... unless your road racing... but.... it would EVEN work in road racing too... thats gay.. he might as well drive an auto... might as well not drive at all... i think he's amitting he cant do it with out the computers help from the sound of it...

yeah i think its pretty cheap 2. More people would prolly get pissed at you using hondata then nitrous, at least with nitrous u have to shift and can still have a lousy start. Hondata takes out those chances.

yeah i ran the 3b setup. it has that feature and it has a 3 stage launch control. Yeah its cheating a bit but so do the topfuel guys. Its launch control is speedo based so at the red light you hold the clutch down and floor it, the car stays at what ever rpm you set it at (5000rpm mine) then light goes green your release the clutch and your off, the hondata automatically turns the rev limit back to where ever you had you top rpm set at. its sweet

no matter what you do to a civic its still an econo box 4 seater with no class or sportyness. Can you get leather in a civic? nope!!!! and 240's just plain look way cooler then a civic. my grandpa's got a 91 civic my uncles got a 93 civic my friends got a 92 civic joe blow down the streets got a civic 92 years old rudy poo has a civic tina from pasadena has a civic only i have a 240sx get my drift (if you don't, think about it) you don't see alot of 240's period, when you see one done out its an even greater site I know for a fact that around my area i have yet to see a done out 240sx while i see 20-30 civics every day that look done out atleast. what i'm trying to say here is without an engine swap a 240sx is a nicer car to drive, faster and has more power potential then these weak civics, plus is just designed to handle and drive better right from the factory.

My final comment: you can spend $10,000.00 on your civic and it still wont be rwd and have as much torque as a 240sx. remember hp sells cars, torque wins races!!!!!

I don't understand (almost everything) Speedsta said, specifically that Nissans are less reliable...this statement can be farther from the truth. My mom has had a Sentra for 40k now and the only thing that was replaced was a recalled sensor (She bought the first year model of the "new" Sentras). I've driven my 240 for 30k now and have literally replaced nothing, just now I'm going to need some new bushings (at 110k). The only thing on my old Sentra that I replaced were belts, brakes, and a starter and alternator. This car went to 170k, and was still running fine when I sold it. Do not say that their reliability is worse because this is simply not true.

i used to drive a 99 EX civic (bone stock) and i beat the crap out of it. I never replaced a thing, ran into a couple of snowbanks, basically treated it like hell and the thing ran just as smooth as when i bought it and all i did was change the oil. i never got it serviced (because it was leased and i didn't care)

problem is that it's a bore to drive. but i gotta give props to honda for making an economy coupe with a backseat that big n comfy.

still nissan, honda, toyota, i'm sure they're all infinitely more reliable than stangs, camaros, and firebirds and that's reliable nuff fo me.

Yeah it might not make the civic a RWD, but you don't think 10k could pull more than 155lbs? Really? you'd need less than 3k for that, any turbo kit worth its salt should be overkill for that task. You could also go for an H22a swap and you'd be like 1 or 2lbs. away. I've only got I/H/E on my civic and I'm not horribly far away from that goal. Don't say ignorant things man, I realize your a noobie, and that you might not like civics, but get your facts straight, torque might not be its strong point, and that's why there's an aftermarket.

And as for that little bit about HPvs.Torque that you got out of SCC, if you read the whole article, you'd know that torque and horsepower are both ways of measuring power, while horsepower is constant, torque is multiplied by gears.
