if i can cut and reweld the seam, like that. fit the wheels how i want, and then get some sweet overfenders to rivet on there, like these:

tatakidasi "rolled" 50mm by Origin-lab.

though that is a hatchback, they make them for coupes as well.

i just dont know how itd be running a 295/35 with only a built, but not yet boosted KA.

y'know?

off topic question, do you happen to still have your heater core from your old car? I need one, if you are interested in selling it let me know.

instead of cutting the fenders and having them look like flower pedals, you can cut, trim and re-weld like the rpf1 coupe. just looks nicer in my opinion

the fender itself is made up of two layers of metal. What you see on the outside and also what is in the wheel well join to make the lip that everyone rolls. when you cut them you are cutting out the seam weld that is in between them. So some people reweld or rivet them back together to avoid lose rattling metal that will be problematic in the future. If you look closer at the picture you will see small burns every 2 inches or so, those are tack welds.

Ah. Now I feel kinda dumb but these dumb questions are going keep coming. is this issue concerning over fenders ? and with flares is this loose metal an issue?

well just figure speeds of 100+ possibly and loose metal, throw in a little rain and figure water will run into your car like a siv. they alos doit to make the fender rigid again because the two panels together are what make it strong. as far as with overfenders im sure this is the only reason someone would do this its so they can put bigger wheels on and increase the amount the vehicle can be lowered without bottoming out on the orignal fender and eating up their tires.

having other people answer for me is awesome.

yeah, im thinking (in order to run a wider tire size) that i could cut and reweld the seam for my fender in the rear, so i can go lower with the wider size, run over fenders, and not worry about my tires rubbing against the stock quarterpanel.

im not sure if ill actually got 295, since that seems super wide, but its the same basic thing.

i really like those tatakidasi overfenders. perhaps if i can find somewhere to buy them that isnt in CAD dollas, ill be more willing to jump for it and hope it works with my car.

ETA?

well. this weekend, i hopefully will be able to buy all my motor stuff. then, ill just be working, saving money, and building/swapping my motor.

then, when the building and swapping is done, i should have the money for tires, hubs, brakes, tie rods, etc.

buy a little bit at a time, or whatever. itll probably be around late november though, since i like buying expensive things.

Yeah hopefully I can start accumulating parts that I need before hand and when my motor comes just clean and refresh/ build it. Then since itll be winter I can save and buy some coils and wheels. Then we can go to Kanawha valley drag strip or wherever ( ). Either way you need to come to P-burg and cruise around when mine gets done, and of course yours is.

Then we can trailor our cars to Summit Point (race track) and either do a few laps of circuit or drift... haha

Enjuku has the tatakidashi fenders, though they don't specifically say. They have 30mm and 50mm ones. They're the Type 3 ones, I think. You could email them and they'd tell you.

thanks for the heads up, i checked it out and e-mailed them about the availability and price.

though, im still curious as to what size tire id be able to run with a 30mm tatakidasi, or a 50. id rather just go 30, but i still need Adrians help in deciding tire sizes to fit those perfectly.

Well I saw your other thread and was doing some research into it, and I think that the 30mm fenders would be just about perfect with those 295's you like so much.

with (relatively) so much tire and so little power, have you thought about setting it up for grip?

seems a bit more logical to me. It would be a b***h if you were unable to initiate a drift using anything but your e-brake.

maybe a hydro brake is in order?

just thoughts escaping my mind.

lol, i definitely am going for more of a grip approach, but with the power ill have, and the much higer power ill be able to reach with the setup im going, theres gonna be no problems breaking loose.

keep in mind, the build im doing, plus the turbo stuff im gonna be buying, ill be definitely set for around 500+whp.

theres gonna be an update soon.

ive already dropped the gas tank and im gonna be finishing off the removal of the fuel lines/brake line from the bay back, plus the e-brake cables.

then, cuttin the black coupe in half

gotta do a little more body work on the red coupe though, there still seems to be the rust coloration coming up from tiny cracks in the primer on the roof. that'll be sorted out soon enough.

ALSO

for the kais (test fitting, or for burnin-rubber fun) i got eight tires from work a couple days ago.

two 225/40/18s

four 235/40/18s. (a little larger than stock size. but still sweet lookin)

and two 245/35/18s, which would look pretty damn good on the back end.

perhaps ill try to do a 225/40 setup in the front, with 235s in the back?

or maybe 225s and 245s rear. or whatever.

its all for fun, and fortunately, for free. hooray!

be looking for an update, if i dive into the big stuff (sawzall) ill take as many pictures as possible. as well as for the engine bay disassembly/engine pull.

anyone have any ideas what color i should paint the engine bay, if im either going black, "smoke" grey, respray of maroony-ish stock burgundy color, or two tone steelish blue with grey?

im not sure on the body color i wanna go with, but once i pull out the blown KADE, im gonna wanna paint that ish, so give me some suggestions.

Hey wednesday is good. I can come down and help you with the body work. Oh, and do you have some kind of rust converter or eliminator if not get some.

i would just do the bay in black, anything else is going to be too hard to keep clean.
