I would wait if you want to do pistions/rods. Its a lot easier to change out things in an engine when its on a stand, VS in your engine bay.

As for me getting a coupe, Maybe down the road. I still have to finish my SR kouki project. Then finally move to my long term goal of RB26 swapped 240.

too bad i have to wait for months so i can get the parts i want and do everything right.

im contemplating just swapping the motor from my 1990 as-is so i can get the hubs brakes tires and SPL tie rods.

any input?
i would go for the hubs, brakes, tires, and tie rods first

you see, the motor in the red car has a thrown rod and a huge hole in the block. so im gonna swap the overbored and rebuilt kade from my black coupe. but WHILE im swapping it, im not sure if i should just go ahead and do forged internals and stuff, since i have to replace freeze plugs and the oil pan gasket anyway.

but i am starting to think i should just run it as is after swapping it so i can have enough money to get my Kais on.

BIG UPDATE.

well kind of. its not really that big, but im bringin' this bish back to the top of the list.

havent done anything as of late to the new coupe, other than re-doing some of the rust repair on the roof.

BUT, tomorrow, a friend/coworker of mine is gonna be helping me take off the brake and fuel lines, and to drop the gas tank in my black coupe. HOPEFULLY, we'll be able to start cutting my old car in half to make room in my garage for the cherry picker and engine stand. we'll see what happens with that, and ill try to take some pictures.

ive decided that im gonna be buying my engine internals next. i was about 150 dollars short of getting all my stuff after my last paycheck, so once i get my next one (in a week and a half) ill have enough to get EVERYTHING for my motor build, and probably some left over to get the front Progress sway bar to match my rear one.

AMS sportsman rods, arias pistons 89.5mm, calico coated main and rod bearings, ARP main studs, and another cometic head gasket. then i gotta get the freeze plugs, oil pan gasket, and any other gaskets i might need.

and the best part of this update, since it doesnt involve a huge wall of text:

theyre so sweet. and look so good. i almost pissed myself when i opened the first box.

also, props to Yokota for being ridiculously awesome.

ANYONE THAT WANTS JDM s***, TALK TO HIM.

newports rock.

gotta give it time, i gotta build and swap the motor, then get all the hubs and brakes and stuff for the five lug swap. i was just planning ahead, and thought "why not make sure ill have these wheels when the time comes"
240lookis wrote:post up more pics! everything sounds and looks great though.
more pics of the wheels alone? lol. itll be better once ive got them on the car, but that might be 2 or 3 months.

___________

cleaned up my garage some today, got the gas tank dropped and out of the way. im gonna go back out to take out the fuel and brake lines, in case i need them later or in case someone else needs them.

then, proceed with cutting the car. that part shouldnt take too long, but then i have to figure out a way to get the front clip moved to the back of my garage to make room for the cherry picker and stuff.

this thread will be updated! i get tired of making new threads, and since this one held most info about the new coupe, ill just keep posting in here when i get more stuff done.

and thanks for all the comments

a write up?

get some 60 grit sand paper. paper is rougher than those sanding sponges.

sand down the area with surface rust, a lot. bare metal. as much as humanly possibe.

then you can put down some rust killer primer or whatever, i just used regular filler primer. lay a couple coats, sand it smooth with like, 100 and 120 grit sponges (thats what i did)

make sure its all smooth, you might have to use some glazing putty (i used some on parts)

after primers done, get matching paint, spray over it lightly, let dry. spray over lightly, let dry. sand it with high grit, smooth it all out, spray another coat, let dry, etc.

ive only got one coat on it in the "fixed" picture, and im re-doing it now.

they're CR Kais, brohan.

but DEFINITELY.

i think thatd be sick as hell if you were able to come help out for a weekend. we should try to set that up for after i get my internals so you can help with the tear-down and re-assembly of the motor before/during install.

i couldve SWORN i had the picture saved on my computer.

though im sure someone else either has it saved, or knows where to find it.

its an s13 coupe, with RPF1s, and their rear quarters are totally cut to drop the rear completely. looked sick, im sure they were fabbing for overfenders.

someone, please find this picture, and if theres any more info about the car/setup, i wanna know.

i took one of my Kais into work today and put a 295/35/18 BFG competition radial on it.

and holy crap, it looked amazing. its like, 10 or 11 inches of tread. and sweet. no pictures though.

pictures of that car are needed, and any other s13 that has a ridiculously wide tire size on the rear.
