This is probably the K.O. blow to McCain's campaign.

No one should be surprised.

For those that are for less government in our lives and balanced budgets they only have to look at what we've received from the Republicans over the past eight years.

We just cannot have more of McSame for the next four years. Many republicans are now running from McCain as his campaign has been a disaster.

His choice of Palin that refuses to conduct interviews with the media is unheard of in a presidential campaign. At least Obama answered questions regarding his relationship with Ayres in the last debate. What have we heard from Palin besides unfounded attacks against Obama?

I'm not surprised, Powell was always a moderate Republican. I understand his remarks about both the party and John McCain.

This will definitely address the "Commander in Chief" issue for many voters.

We have had a democrat congress for several years, I like the way libs conveniently forget that. Pelosi and Reed have been lubricant to legislation on par with a pile of busted glass but it is all the Republican's fault. Delusion goes well with those shoes Tel.

I have a great deal of respect for Powell, I would have voted for him, I still would. On this one though he dropped the ball.

two is enough to do something, what have they done to help you good citizen? I would remind you that all of those Dems grilling Lehman CEOs have big wads of fanny and freddie kickbacks in their back pockets, in case you were wondering why those CEOs are conspicuously absent from the hot seat. Did Republicans do that? Chris Dodd is about as dirty as they come and he chairs the damned banking committee, hello!

Oh, and don't forget the anointed one, he has his hands in the kitty too but he is going to save everybody, yeah right.

Well, neither party has had a big enough majority to push bills through. Pelosi and her cronies are indeed guilty of being overly partisan which resulted in getting very little accomplished. Same could be said when the republicans had control. Unfortunately we have had a president for the last 7.5 years who lacked the leadership and negotiating skills to reach across the aisle, which made matters even worse.

I think Powell's endorsement is interesting but I don't think his decision is the one critical piece that puts Obama over the top. Powell is still very much respected despite the trap he got caught up in with the Bush administration. but he is also known to be an independant thinking moderate. I think people will make their own conclusions as to Powell's endorsement.

oh wow Powell ended up endorsing Obama? Im very surprised to say the least. IMO this gives obama a lot more weight now with Powell backing him. I know a lot of friends of mine here in VA were waiting to hear who Powell would endorse since theyre undecided.

Here is what Powell thinks about Obama's Tax plan:

"Taxes are always a redistribution of money. Most of the taxes that are redistributed go back to those who paid them, in roads and airports and hospitals and schools. And taxes are necessary for the common good. And there is nothing wrong with examining what our tax structure is or who should be paying more, who should be paying less. And for us to say that that makes you a socialist, I think is an unfortunate characterization that isn't accurate. "

IF Obama wins I hope the Dem Party gets the 9 additional seats it needs so that they do not even need the Republican Party to show up on Capitol hill as they will have a Super Majority. I just hope I can financially survive having three of the most socialist-leaning Dems running the whole country (Obama, Pelosi and Reid).

That way we can spend the next 2-4 years saying "I told you so".

Fixed it for you there Matty.

I find it ironic that a large portion of Western Europe and Canada have gone conservative with their elections and America is on the verge of going liberal. Makes me wonder how Obama can backup the claim that only he can work with Europe to repair our relationships. Blair, Brown, Merkel and Sarkozy have been pretty buddy buddy with us for the past few years. Not that we always agree 100%, but its a marked difference in our relationship from say 4-5 years ago.

I think Powell is right on.

Hopefully he helps stump for Obama.

Obama actually said today that he'll have a role in the administration if he wins the election.

How awesome would it be to see him as SecState AGAIN, during an administration that will actually LISTEN to him, lol.

Powell rules, always has.

More like decades.

Don't want the socialists in power? Kick the loons out of the Republican party so there is at least a viable alternative. People are not inclined to vote for a party which spends more than the Dems (money they don't even have) and wipes their butt with the Constitution.

The idea the Democrats spend less than the Republicans is laughable. In theory, they'd spend less than they'd tax, balancing the budget. In actuality, I'm expecting higher taxes and even higher spending.

Also, the idea the Democrats treat the Constitution any better than the Republicans is also laughable. Ron Paul and Bob Barr? Former Republicans. Hell, Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party* (who Paul endorses) is a former Republican.

*Note: the Constitution Party, while on the right track, still has a few kinks to work out before legitimately being for the Constitution.

Do you have any facts that show the Dems spend more than the Republicans? Since 1968, this has not been the case.

On the second point, you single out a few people who are not representative of the current Republican leadership and fail to make any sort of point. Paul is still a Republican, BTW.

He is the DNC chairman. He is the man behind the scenes and very important. Dubya is a lame duck on his way in to anecdotal history. Dean and his fellow whack jobs will continue to shape democratic policy for years to come. He is the guy sthat says things like this.

"I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks."

I wonder how Barrack feels about that constituency?

You think the Republican National Committee could get this many people of color in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here."

So you want to be the the pro confederate flag guy and you think black people are all waitstaff, nice Howard.

I've waffled before. I'll waffle again.

I was going to mention that but you beat me to it

Real Democrats don't make promises they can't keep.

That seems to conflict with your previous statement. I guess you are not a real democrat.

I hate Republicans and everything they stand for.

My, that is mature. Nice to know he has a level head.

"Now that we're on dog pee, we can have an interesting conversation about that. I do not recommend drinking urine…but if you drink water straight from the river, you have a greater chance of getting an infection than you do if you drink urine."

Uh, thanks for the tip?
