NBC Nightly News showed a poll that indicated that 77% of the people polled didnt think that Colin Powells endorsement carried weight in the Campaign.

*shrug* This guy was pretty useful politically after the Gulf War (under GHW Bush) for the Republicans. What gives?

I'm not surprised. Historically, endorsements don't count for much.

It wasn't so much that the endorsement mattered, it's more Powell's attack on the present nature of the GOP. I don't even think that will carry much weight per se, but I think it'll mean more than the endorsement itself.

Now, if Powell starts stumping for Obama, THAT will matter, having the two of them at rallies, especially in military-heavy areas like Newport News VA.

To you it's not. To me I find it shocking that someone with such little time in office and with such radical associations is actually close to being our President. If it were the other way around, the Democratic election staff and media would have crushed the Republican candidate into the ground.

Don't fool yourself. There are tons of unanswered questions about Obama and anyone asking them are blocked. Hell, look what they have done to "Joe the Plumber" for asking questions in his own yard in which Obama staff did not like the answer given, they swarmed all over the guy like locusts and tried to bury him. Look at something simple like providing a birth certificate in which it's a simple task to shut people up but they refuse for some reason.

I have a feeling, because of blind-eyed worshipers of Obama, that we may find out the truth a bit too late.
Joe the plumber! No one did anything to him! McCain brough this guy to life in the debate and the rest was history. I see him in front of cameras more than Palin and it's probably at his own choice, so blame McCain for bring this guy (Joe the Plumber) to the party and not the liberal democrats. Samuel Wurzelbacher aka Joe he Plumber has become a tool for the republican campaign because they are out of idea on how to win voters.

No one is worshiping Obama.... people want someone that can correct the issues in the country. Bush had 8 year and wasn't that helpful. There were a few items that stood out during his campaign, but for the most part he failed at being president and people do not want to see this type of failure. As for the un-answered questions about Obama...sure there are. There are un-answered questios about everyone.

Sorry, Hash, I thought you knew all about it. I know you did post in this thread:

zerothread?id=371350

"In 1995, Ayers got a $50 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation to fund the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a foundation that Ayers established. Obama, a third year associate at a small Chicago civil rights law firm, was hired to Chair the CAC and distribute the funds. Ayers and the other two founders operated the "Collaborative", another part of the foundation that established foundation guidelines and worked with "community organizations" in writing grants to be approved by Obama and the board, funds which went to 3rd party groups which would be matched to individual schools. No funds went to the schools themselves.

Furthermore, these funds were spent to preach "social justice" to compensate for the inherent racism and imperialism of America. Students were taught extreme left wing anti-capitalism. The 3rd parties who received this funding to assist the schools downplayed achievement tests in favor of activism. Proposals from groups that focused on math/science achievement were turned down. Instead CAC disbursed money through various far-left community organizers, such as the ACORN.

External partners like the South Shore African Village Collaborative and the Dual Language Exchange focused more on political consciousness, Afrocentricity and bilingualism than traditional education. CAC's in-house evaluators comprehensively studied the effects of its grants on the test scores of Chicago public-school students. They found no evidence of educational improvement. "

From a WSJ article in September:

http://online.wsj.com/article/....html

Maybe you just brushed it off because you already knew it wasn't "something important" to know about Obama's mysterious past - you know, the time wayyyyy back, before 3 years ago.

Let's see, bunch of Saudis slammed some planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and western Pennsylvania because of their own personal ****ing jihad. The airline industry and Wall Street shut down and the Economy went into Recession. Yeah, Bush was handed this country on a silver platter.

So if he spent a little extra money taking down the Afghans that harbored Al Qaeda, built the Department of Homeland Security to keep YOU safe and invaded Iraq because they were abusing the UN's Oil for Arms...errr Food Program because the next attack could have come out of Iraq.. then yeah I guess I am OK with that.

It's easy to sit back with historical hindsight when absolutely no attack has been perpetrated on American Soil since 9-11 and nit pick the Bush Administration's attempts to keep YOU safe. But they did succeed in keeping us all safe.

I didn't realize it Sunday, but I think my buddy Nate is right. When our guys are out in the world (or down in Gitmo), that doesn't play by OUR rules, doing things that we may not be proud of. I guess I am ok with that. They make the Terrorists of the world think twice before attacking Caroline and Liesl (Nat's and my daughter). Because the reality is this, they don't give a **** about Our Constitution, nor of our Rule of Law, they only understand one thing 'A bullet in your head.' *Cue RATM*

I think the general, unspoken consensus is that by declining additional involvement, he somehow "shirked" his "calling".

...and when Obama doesn't affect thnigs one bit, when his "hope" and "change" leads to nothing of significance, when the country continues on with 'business as usual' for the next four years, what's the Left going to whine about?

They'll find some way to blame it on the Right. And they'll be dead wrong, because there should be NO reason he can't deliver what he's promising...

So, here's your spotlight, Senator. No one to blame if you screw the pooch. You got your Dem Congress, you got your wacko cronies (Reed, Pelosi and Frank). You got your electoral votes.

Get crackin'. Impress me.

BTW, I'm WAY better off than I was 8 years ago, and the government didn't have one bit of influence on it.

You should email that to McCain and see if he'll use it as his concession speech.

I do think that the campaign promises of *both* mean stand to be severely trimmed the first year in office, largely due to financial necessity.

No, most of us were criticizing all along, not in hindsight. Defending the actions of the administration just shows your lack of objectivity.

I pray that everyone doesn't have the same attitude as you. He does promote change, but trust me..... it wont be right away. Hell, it may not be in the first year, but some people will be expecting something on Nov 5th.

Imagine if you became the CEO of a company that is 1 trillion dollars in the whole. Be smart people!! You cant correct that kinda crap in a year.

CP is just a Dem in hiding who is voting along racial lines. That's his decision and he can do as he pleases. Maybe DailyKos and the Dems in general will stop calling him an "Uncle Tom" now and applaud him as a Dem hero?

Condi Rice is still an "Auntie Tom" I guess. Makes you wonder how the Dems can think they are the party for the black person or any minority for that matter.

The same attitude as me? You mean a demand for accountability? An 'auditor's eye'?

Count the number of times Obama has said, "The first thing I do when I get in the Oval Office is...."

He'd better not do anything but WORK his first year in office. I don't wanna see him on TV, I don't wanna see him on vacation, I don't wanna see him playing with his kids, I don't want him to watch TV or play fantasy football or do a crossword puzzle or read the Enquirer.

Hell, he said he's PERSONALLY going to go through the Federal Budget "...line item by line item" - That's a year's work right there.

Sorry, no free pass from me. Make promises? Keep 'em. I felt the same way about Bush I (no new taxes).

A little phrase that's near and dear to me comes to mind: "Say what you mean, and mean what you say."

"...some people will be expecting something..." What does that mean? It's not definitive. It's not descriptive. I'm not sure it's even worth typing.

Regardless of what he does in your eyes its already wrong. Your critical eye and negative thinking will be to your dis-advantage if you continue to go on the way you are going. I do understand your thinking, but lets fall back and lighten up just a little and watch it play out. Oh.... and he hasn't won yet
