Okay, I'm working my buns off!!

(I like to call the bottom one Versi-modo...

more soon (like, tonight. That was the stuff from yesterday) and there're different pics on my CarDomain, but the ones that aren't here were taken with my phone so they're not great shakes.

(btw: the title is a line from a song by the Royal Guardsmen... the song is called "Sopwith Camel Time" go figure.)

Well, I couldn't get pictures of the wheels finished (front two only for tonight) because it got dark and mom's camera died. (my phone won't take pics at night very well)

here's this:it's killing me that I can't post a picture!! My center caps, lug nuts and the ring around the wheel are all still the silver/chrome and they look so neat!!! I'll have to snap a pic with my phone before I go to work and try and get on here!

Hey kimber. Sorry for calling you a "he" in the voting thread. I had seen some pics of your car before but hadn't decided on my vote and once I saw the latest ones I decided to vote. I love the fact that you are modding your car. I would like to do lots to mine but just don't have the time or money or understanding wife. What you have done is simply not to my taste is all. I don't care for the red accents on the blue car and not a big fan of black rims (although the silver accents help a lot). But variety is what makes things interesting. Your car is certainly going to get more looks than my stock v. Keep it up. If I ever get around to modding mine I'll post some picks so you can tell me what you don't like about it.

;oD sounds good !

additional: I really didn't think I liked black wheels either... but I didn't like the silver and my mom and I agreed that all blue or part red would stick out worse than the silver so I thought I'd try it. (If I don't like it, what's a little paint thinner? ;oD)

I love the rims (wheels), and the trim work and badge work is nicely done but I'm not sure I'm digging that red colour with the blue car.

Nice job though!

I could plug and say it's a Nico car (that's nico's colors ;oD)

but really, it's because the RAF roundel is red white and blue and so I'm sticking with the red and blue. I can't wait till I get my decals in their finished form!!! I need to call Brandon tomorrow, they finally got the white reflective in... ;oD I'm so excited!!! (I miss them)

Well, I had a migraine yesterday (reason for all the typos, I tried to fix them, but I just went to bed)...

I decided to paint my back wheels tonight (after working late) and they're in my garage now and my car is up on its stands... Here's hoping it all dries so I can go to work :o/

I'm not the sharpest marble in the drawer, now am I?

I know this is a car site, but dang, I've been all torn up over the bailiff all day today and so I hope I didn't f^ my wheels... eep! They look okay... (a lot of the cloudy look from the clear coat because of the cool wet air today) and so I'm hoping it'll dry clear.

I also made a mistake that's gonna cost me $80 and I'm not sure if I'm ready to admit it publicly... I'm sure I'll admit to it soon though... I got the charge cord for the digi today so I'll post pics of my mistake and my car with the finished wheels.

Only problem is, now I can't decide if I should 1) leave the calipers2) paint them black3) paint them silver4) paint them red (what I originally planned on)

any thoughts??

Kimber;

I love the wheels, seriously, they look awesome! Go with your original intuition and paint the calipers and drums red. DupliColor ceramic engine paint works best. Also, just a suggestion; paint the inside outer rim lip red? hmmm...

Nemo helped ;oDI can't get over how much I am liking the red on blue... I never would have believed anyone if they had told me a year ago I'd own blue car with red accents... but it's really grown on me and I love it. (bet ya couldn't tell ;oD)

Now I've gotta get ahold of my sign guy tomorrow!! EEEPPPPP!!!I want my stripes now and I'm willing to pay for them... I may have to hold off on the spoiler... :o( but I really want my stripes dangit!!

Wow, it looks great Kimber. I was not sure at first but it is very distinctive and shows your personalization of your ride.

Keep it up!

I'll try to get some photos outside in the daylight tomorrow... I'm still thinking on the wheels... my mom loves them, but I keep wondering about doing some more color on them... we'll see.

I'm awaiting the arrival of my lens tint and other than that, everything has taken a back-burner to my decals. (I wish someone would post about doing the headlights... we are thinking acetone will weaken the seal, but I'm not sure what I want to do. Headlights won't come off again till at least Thursday when I get my new bracket in from Nissan.)

Well, you can't do a bank robbery in that car or they will identify it immediately.

Kimber,

I have to say that I'm very impressed by the execution of your theme. It's actually inspirational. It has got me thinking about different and possible themes. Old aircraft seem to work exceedingly well. And as an aerospace engineer, I know of several from which to draw. I'm working on some photochopped concepts that I'll post some time soon.

Here in the pacific NW, "Art Cars" are fairly common. These may or may not have a "theme". Even if they do, they're very loosely based. Most art cars are very overstated, and usually include glued on items. There's an old VW Beetle that's done up as the Batmobile. And there's a guy who's Previa is done up with "bubbles". Check out artcars.com for some examples. Personally, I find your interpretation far more palatable.

Keep the creativity going.

Okay! New full side shot tomorrow!

And Tiff and I were talking tint today... turns out she's taken doors apart before to apply tint so we may just do it ourselves... (I love doing it myself... Sometimes you make $80 mistakes, but it's always a learning experience)

EEEHHHHHH!!!!!!I'll never get to bed at this rate.

Very nice Kimber, that car is definitely unique! Again, I love the wheels. I was planning on turning my 1992 Nissan Stanza into an art car. I was going to cover the entire car with Turf (artificial grass). I was going to go as far as bolting an old lawnmower to the roof, along with some Nelson Poppy sprinklers and a few lawn ornaments. I managed to contact the president of the AstroTurf company , and he seemed interested, but wouldn't send me any free material. I still might do this (sold the Stanza, but any cheap car will do).
