its really obvious, I didnt even know exactly where to look and I found it.

in this pic (not my car) http://www.saltgod.org/1991240sx/engine01.jpg

its the thickest black hose starting from the round black circle on the firewall to somewhere near the intake manifold. it runs down and under the top of the intake manifold.

you should slap yourself once you figure out where it is. =)

Well I tried that sefoam stuff the other day, spend $19.00 and was all excited for my 93 240sx with 115K. After a ful tank of gas. . I haven't felt a difference. The idle is a little better, nothing like it's a whole new car though. Oh well.

I used a half can of SeaFoam but saw not a single puff of smoke coming out the back of my 240sx... rather it breathed out clean air.

Maybe, the internal has been clean... with my superb maintenance job. :) For the latter half of the car's 120,000 mi life, I cleaned with Valvoline intake cleaner spray every once in a while.... So maybe it WAS already clean while I was using the SeaFoam today.

Just so you know... products other than SeaFoam works too.

O and i poured the seafoam in gas tank, crankcase and intake. i felt a difference (a positive one) with seafoam in crankcase after awhile...

to let some wonderers know, i tried this yesterday. it seemed to help quite a bit. i ran about a third of the bottle thru the brake booster hose, watched my engine try to rattle out from under the hood, waited about 15 mins, and then proceeded to smoke out the entire neighborhood for the next 20 minutes. but hey, it runs pretty smoothly. not bad for two bucks worth of materials. and yes, i replaced the o2 sensor and plugs afterwards. made a great difference. all parts can be found at napa. now i want MORE power...

well, I said $2 because pouring into the brake booster to clean out your exhaust manifold only takes 1/3 bottle. the other 2/3 ($4) is left over for use thru the fuel system. works like a charm. so yes, $6 is the price @ Napa.

So when you add the sea foam in the vacuum line, does it clean the throttle body aswell? Cause I took a look at mine and its really dirty.

Nope, if you put it into the brake booster hose, it won't clean the throttle body. However, there probably is a way to inject it into the throttle body to clean it out with. I'd use some throttle body or carb cleaner instead though.

i used to work for a cadillac dealership. when i did, gm came out with a bulletin to solve 4.6L northstar engine oil consumption probs(not leaks, thats a whole 'nother prob). it went like this. remove spark plugs. pout a two teaspoons of gm top engine cleaner(you can use seafoam, bg 44k, techron, carb spray, etc.) into each plug hole. cover with rags. let sit overnight. after soaking overnight, crank engine with fuel and spark disabled. after cranking for like 30 seconds, reinstall plugs. hook up any other stuff. pull off brake booster line(any line with vacuum will work). start engine and SLOWLY let it suck up a bottle of your cleaner stuff. at the end, dump a whole lot till she stalls. let sit for at least an hour. start her up and drive a nice long(at least 10 min) drive. all the crap that you find on the rags after cranking the engine is carbon. you may not see much, but it is important. the reason gm came up with all this it that the northstar was getting some serious carbon build up on the rings. this caused perfectly good rings to stick and burn oil. its still important to clean injectors and intake valves, but to really hook it up you want to do the above method also.

By a big tub of simple green or any inudstrial strength degreaser.

I bought two Seafoam can's for $5.39 each...I put one in my Vaccum line towards the throttle body..and one in my beyond empty fuel tank and gassed it up with 91 octane....when I did the throttle body that **** was like Cheech & Chong Up In Smoke style...smells so good...I was high off it haha but yah now its so clean that I can hear the injectors doing their jobs..it really improved my performance and engine wise....the treatment to the fuel tank really helped alot! thanks man!

Sorry If I'm bringing up a really old post, but since I have a 97 240sx, do I have to change both o2's? Also seafoams website says their product is Oxygen sensor safe. It's just I don't want to spend 80 bucks to get a new o2 sensor.

o2s wear out over time anyway. thats why bmw replaces them as a maintenance item.

When I take off my brake booster line the car dies. I tried to do it with the car running, and alternatively when the car was off, pulling the line and then trying to start the car. Either way the car won't start or stay started with the brake booster line off.

put your thumb over the booster line when you're not pouring stuff into it. I did the seafoam action a couple weeks ago, not too much difference for my car just that it smoothed out the lower rpm idle a bit, but after 2 or 3 miles the lower rpm roughness came back.

repeat the cycle. you may find that you can do the seafoam treatment 2 or 3 (possibly 4) times before the black stuff stops coming out of the exhaust. it should clear it up. and anyway, it cant hurt.

yeah planning to run it a couple more times. We'll see what happens. Chingon, I see we've had the same thing happen. All I got was a bit of white smoke and that was about it. I also did an injector check and o2 sensor check, they were all fine afterwards. I know I'm pretty anal about the cleanliness of my engine, but with 171k on it, I'm expecting at least some puffs.

I hear ya 180fan, we should've gotten more than white smoke...although it did last 20 mins.
