TO CLEAN YOUR THROTTLE BODY USE DEEP CREEP. ITS BASICALLY AN AREOSOL CHARGED VERSION OF REGULAR SEAFOAM PETROLEUM.

TO CLEAN THROTTLE BODY:- TAKE AIR FILTER OFF- SPRAY DEEP CREEP DIRETCLY INTO THE INTAKE WITH ENGINE IDLING- ONLY SPRAY ALITTLE AT A TIME AS YOU WILL NOTICE IDLE PROBLEMS- REPEAT UNTIL ALL THE BLACK SMOKE DISAPPEARS

o2 sensor should run less thqn 20 just about anywhere. never hurts to replace aging sensors. unless you can test to make sure they operate properly.

Hi, that sounds like something I want to do to my poor baby. Anything to clean her up after all these miles.

Which bottle should I buy? Auto Marine, Deep Creep, Trans-Tune?

Yes this does work very well and the originating post should be a sticky.

My $800 1990 SE with 179,000 miles runs super smooth now and flew through NJ emissions sniff tests at under 10% the permitted emmissions.

Now to just address that heat shield that periodically vibrates and the sloppiest shifter I have ever seen on a car, except maybe the 1969 Econoline that had 3 on the tree.

ok im probably going to try the seafoam stuff on my recently bought 240. Although im worried that it might cause more problems (new oils leaks, etc.)...many people here has had not problems with it.

I just got a few questions...

-When putting it in the oil, do have to replace the oil immediatly (like after a few mins. idling) or after a few miles (i gotta replace my oil in about 300 miles so if adding it now would be worth it ?)- do i add the whole bottle or just the 1/3? (bottle says 1/3 but i hear that ppl put the whole bottle)-When u pour it down the vacum line, i know u idle it high (~1700) but after about 18 mins or so are u suppose to stall it completely then redo ???-When i pour it in my gas tank, do i pour it in when its near empty and then run it (or do i put the seafoam when almost empty then fill it up ?)

I am actually still running it through the oil. I only put a half can of it in the oil and planned on running it for a full cycle. I think the can says that is fine but check.

I ran a full can on top of an almost full tank. Ran it to the warning light and refilled it. Then I did the vacuum line method. Rather than pouring, I just got another smaller vacuum line that fits in the brake boost line and put the other end in the can and siponed it into the intake, pinching the line to control the rate of flow and maintain the idle of the engine.

The can actually lists all these uses and more.

I also cleaned out the MAF, replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, O2.

Hello Ed,

Maybe you can help me out. I just took my 1993 240SX to inspection and it failed. It failed on too much Hydrocarbon and CO. Anyways, I was wondering if it will help me seafoam the car first then change the plugs, oil, oil filter, o2 sensor, and maybe the cat. Or should I just use the seafoam and drive for a week and maybe it'll pass. My question will this help in lowering my emmissions?

Any help thanks

well, I used the stuff, and it seemed to help somewhat, but when I put it through the brake booster hose, the resulting smoke was white, not black. It should have been black I think, since my engine has 200k+ on it. Should I let it sit for longer before starting it if I do it again?

So what if you take the O2 sensors out before doing this? Engine will throw a code but it should run for long enough to get the crap out right?

Best thread EVER! After I got my '90 240 hatchback, I used one bottle of Seafoam in the gas tank, one bottle in the gas tank. Ran it until I was almost out of gas (less than 1/2 gal. in the tank). Then unplugged the hose from the brake booster and poured 2/3 of a bottle in. Changed the plugs, plug wires, and 02 sensor.

My 240 runs much better now, idles more consistently, and doesn't smoke when i first start her. I had about 178,000 miles on her when I did it. I was kinda worried about doing more harm than good, but worried for nothing. If you have a high-mileage 240, you owe it to your car to run Seafoam through it.

If you guys can get your hands on some AC Delco X66... get it. It is great for cleaning your TB and intake manifold. Most of the other air intake cleaners are light bodied, evaporate way too quickly, and is basically crap compared to this stuff. It sticks like glue to any carbon, and disolves it quickly, and it foams when you spray it.
