I am working all day every day until next week. More pictures coming soon.

Still not sure on the full condition of seats, seem pretty decent so far, bit dirty though.

.Had the same idle problem when I got mne in January this year. Compression was the problem. I used a tin of engine restore and sprayed the carburettor. Now she idles fine at 800 rpm, powers up smoothly and dosent smoke any more. No smog tests here either.

Hopefully end of this week or sometime next week I am doing a motor swap.

I hope to take many pictures and throw them up here.

Then I will strip the parts truck and send it on to where ever.

First things first. Motor swap, then truck runs and I can haul parts.

I think this is the weekend, weather permitting.

I have Zombro at my house and his new heart about 10mins away.

I am making text of what I will be doing per my notes and then I will fill in later with the pictures of when I do it.

On 2wd it is easier to remove the motor with the transmission. On 4wd it is recommended to remove the engine without the transmission.

So after starting the motor and it sounds good. I will begin removal.

1. Remove the hood, held in place by four bolts, mark the hinges for easy alignment later.

2. Disconnect and remove the battery.

3. Remove the Air Cleaner Assembly. I think it had 3-4 hoses attached to it.

4. Drain Coolant from the radiator and the motor block. On the drivers side of the radiator at the bottom is a drain screw.

5. Drain the motor of oil.

6. Drain Trans if necessary, parts car has no Trans and the fluid in Zombro is brand new, I may skip this.

7. Remove upper and lower radiator hoses, inspect for wear and replace if necessary.

8. Mark and label wires and vacuum hoses, then Disconnect them.

9. Remove fuel lines and plug them.

10. Remove A/C compressor from the motor, leave it connected to the piping and be careful not to bend the piping.

11. Remove power steering and leaving attached to its piping. Loosen the tensioner on the belt and slide off.

12. Disconnect the distributor from the coils.

13. Detach throttle cable.

14. Detach Brake Booster vacuum and put it out of the way.

15. Disconnect the heater hoses.

16. Disconnect the alt wires and starter wires.

17. Remove the radiator and shroud.

18. Remove the primary front drive shafts.

19. Drop the front diff so it rest on the crossmember.

20. Unbolt the down pipe from the exhaust manifold

21. Chalk the trucks wheels and disconnect the E-brake, put it out of the way.

22. Mark any remaining wires or hoses before removing.

23. Unbolt Trans from the motor.

24. Attach chains/ hooks to the lift brackets.

25. Take slack out of the chain.

26. Remove the bolts that attach the rear mounting member of the front differential to the frame. Remove the bolts that attach the front engine mount bracket to the engine block. Leave the insulator bolts alone.

27. Lift slightly, separate and bring forward to get the motor off the Trans.

28. Makes sure nothing is connected or hanging up and carefully remove the motor.

Did some stuff yesterday and today, but Rain has been a major issue. 10mins of sun then 10min of downpour then sun again.

Tomorrow I am aiming at getting the motor out of the parts truck and to my house at the very least.

Zombro just needs to have the motor unbolted and yanked out, everything else is done.

Do I have to drain the oil? I can't see it spilling for any reason.

I think I am just gonna use the same coolant, unless there is some reason to get new coolant.

Today I got the motor out and cleaned it off a bit to see that pretty blue motor block. Tomorrow should be transporting motor to my house and lifting out the other motor.

Then decide what parts are going on the motor, I might add A/C because it looks like no fabrication needed to fire wall.

The exhaust mani is cracked so it will be swapped over. also this carb looks like shiztle compared to the other one but I can change that later. The flywheel looks good but the clutch looks crappy so depending on how the other one looks I may get a new one.

Didn't get anything done sunday, due to a fun cookout with highschool friends.

Hopefully done by the weekend.

Today I had to drop off something at my mom's house in the work van so I loaded up the motor and dropped it off at home.

Clutch looks really good.

The flywheel on both is decent. I think I will throw the motor in and build the original up for a later swap and more power and less emissions.

Got the motor in and started but I think the vacuum lines need to be run a bit different to get it idling right.

Sounds so beast with open headers.

Need to do the coolant, reinstall the exhaust, and tune the carb.

Yay so happy. The coolest thing was randomly a guy(neighbor from across the street) comes up and helps me get the motor in and lined up on the transmission.

Next is body work and paint.

Haha I'm an idiot. Funny story time. So when removing the old motor I didn't realize that i yanked out the ground that connects to the battery tray. So I'm starting it and it fires up i turn it off and smell and see a light smoke. Find the problem and run to the parts truck and replace it. Try to start it up again and CLANG CLACK CLACK. I i killed the motor. I didn't screw my rad down, the clutch fan killed it and now I gotta go grab the one off the parts truck. Imma dummy.

I picked up a KA24e out of 240sx sunday for $50. Now I can try to head swap the z block, but I need to clean up my garage first.

I am hoping for little to no mods. I will see how they line up.

I will take a bunch of pictures when I get going on this, I will try to document the differences in the motors, what is alike what is different.

So I get the KAe home on sunday and a friend calls me. He was saying he did this alt swap for his SOHC 240sx and now its over charging his battery. I told him put on the old one, but he swapped it for the core. Luckily I just bought a motor how convenient.

Yeah, they did make the 720 in standard cab. The driver-passenger seat is all one piece and the back window comes right up to it. If i remember right, the driveline or something is a different length because we had to buy some new parts when we converted our standard cab to the king one.

Like every 720 I've seen is a rust bucket, that new one you got is one of the best I seen. The very first one we had we ended up removing the bed entirely and replacing it with a less rusted one. So get control of it ASAP and if you cant.. get rid of it. Light rust use the converter.. bad parts, like the other guy said- cut them out entirely and fill with bondo, or find a replacement.

I'm glad to hear the engine/transmission are easier to pull out on the 2wd, that means i only gotta deal with that on the original 4x4 im scrapping. Pulling the engine with transmission on 4wd is definitely a pain in the a**, but its a bigger pain in the a** putting them in/out separately. Once you've done it once its not so bad, but getting it figured out that first time could prove to be impossible especially if you dont got the right tools.

pull engine and trans separately on the 4WD. theres alot of crap holding the transmission where its is. Unless you are just ripping it apart then I guess whatever.

Added the pic of the single seat. The difference in the drive line is due to the difference in the length of the transmission, whether its a short or long gearbox.

Well, I haven't been on here Like I used to be. Tomorrow is the third sunday I will going to help a friend finish his oil pump replacement on a VW(b**** to work on). Then I will finally start on the truck, which has been utterly ignored. I miss driving it. So I am going to get it running again so I can sell my daily and work on my 240sx. Then I will be completely Nissan again.

I'll take a picture of how dirty it is. I cry inside when I walk past it and know I don't have time for it.

Finished his passat oil pump replacement yesterday, Now to grab the van and go grab my tools and hoist and stuff.

How many people should it take to lift off the bed from the truck?or Anyone know how much just the bed weighs?

A little more than 200 lbs. It can be awkward to lift off sometimes and needs to either be put on sawhorses, or upside down on the ground. Make sure to disconnect the wires to the taillights and license plate lights. disconnect the fuel filler hose. Remove the bolts, (I think there are 6). The bolts will probably be rusted very badly and will likely snap off before they ever loosen, at least on my truck they did, and that's a 97. It isn't a bad idea to take the taillights out of the bed before doing this just to keep the protected from impacts. I do this alot for rust detailing my frame, and it still keeps rusting, albiet a slower rate.

It should be three. Two to lift the tray and the other to move the truck.

Okay, nice. I was thinking that I may disassemble my entire bed and replace all hardware or at least see if I can salvage and clean them up.

I don't have my tools back yet but should soon.

Use or get an engine puller and hook up a line to each corner of the bed from the hook. Two people should be enough.
