The Death Star's main defenses were the fleet of Star Destroyers, which the emperor ordered to spread throughout the Galaxy in a vain effort to engage the Rebellion, as evidenced by the queen lady from episode 4:

THE EMPEROR HAS MADE A CRITICAL ERROR AND THE TIME FOR OUR ATTACK HAS COME

I like Star Wars and Trek equally. I've just been exposed to more Trek than Star Wars extended universe, since most of the Star Wars stuff is horrible cliché sci-fi trash written by the likes of Kevin "Nothing is Sacred" Anderson. I've read a few Star Wars books but most of them are pretty horrible. Trek books are, too, for the most part, but there are 11 movies and 5 TV series so it's a lot easier to get into Trek.

And don't forget the Borg can travel back in time(like in First Contact). They would just go back in time and assimilate the Empire before they were even the Empire.

It's funny how most of the ppl who are well versed in both ST & SW universes come to the same conclusion of Borg victory, while those only familiar with SW frantically cling to hope.

The Force in the only intangible element that the Borg would not be able to anticipate. But fortunately, as evidenced in 'Revenge of the Sith', force users can be overcome by massive numbers. Although, I must confess, massive numbers may not be enough to defeat Vader and Palpatine. Especially if they are together... Scary thought... Those two mofo's would do work!

You know what I'd also like to see? Millenium Falcon vs. The Defiant!

Not in a fight though... The Defiant would crush the Falcon. But a sub warp/light speed race through an asteroid field between those would be badass...

Versus

Force Powers are nothing in the realm of the Star Trek universe. Let's not forget that the NG has the likes of Q and Whoopie Goldberg's character (I forget what her name is) and the possibility of time travel is a definitive possibility. The ST universe also has Rommulans who have super logical powers and Klingons would make mince meat of Boba Fett. The Borg is quite possibly the baddest entity in all the ST universe outside of Q and his people. To put the SW universe vs the ST universe is like putting the all the Armies of the world from WW1 against all the Armies of the world today against each other, sure there will be casualties, but in the end modern tech and weapons would devastate WW1 era troops.

Now to put the ST universe against say the Battlestar Galactica universe (the modern series on Syfy) would be a safer and more interesting debate, leave SW to fight against Flash Gordon and Emperor Ming.

In the end ST would absolutely walk over SW with out even breaking a sweat no matter what the match up would be. After all the Rebellion was able to destroy the DS not once but twice and they didn't have anywhere near the numbers or the technology the Borg has. Plus SW has Jar Jar Binks, how can you take a universe seriously when one of their main storyline characters is Jar Jar Binks (don't say he wasn't, he was in episodes I-III and was prominent through the last half of episode I).

I agree with most of that, but lets not take the Jedi's and Siths fighting prowess too lightly. Those are some bad muthaphukas...

Whoopi's character was called Guinan. She posessed some kind of sensory power, but nothing suited for a combat application.

The Klingons are tough, but most of them would get pwnt by the Jem'Hadar (who can turn invisible) or the Hirogen (who hunt, like The Predator) in their same galaxy. And they'd all have problems with a few grown Rancors and Wookies.

I would not bet on Romulan or Vulcan intellect over that of the Jedi or Sith neither. Remember, you don't have to be a particular species to use the force...

True, but Vulcans and Romulans are voracious combatants, especially Romulans. Romulans and Klingons are the biggest foes for Starfleet. Plus both have cloaking powers. As far as the Klingons vs Wookie or Rancors, they are superior hand to hand fighters. Rancors are nothing more than giant space dinosaurs, Klingons would use them as guard dogs and Wookies might be big and strong, but a Klingon 2 handed blade would gut them before they got their furry hands on them.

As far as the Jedi/Sith angle goes, that's about all the SW universe has ahead of ST, though like I said the ST universe has the likes of Q who makes force powers look like parlor magic.

Guinan might not have anything suited for combat, but she can go between dimensions and time as seen in the last NG movie, therefor giving her an advantage as a spy. Plus outside of Picard she is the only character in the ST universe to ever survive a full blown assault by the Borg (the Enterprise only survived b/c of Picard)

Did somebody call for an assbeating?

But seriously... No contest. How many drones did it take for the Borg to become immune to phasers? 2, 3?

They Borg have also demonstrated the ability to beam through shields. Empire ain't got s*** on that. 100 Borg on the Death Star? Game over man, game over.

Found this while surfing the interwebz, apparently this has already been discussed in great length by bigger geeks than us...

http://www.electricferret.com/fights/darkstars.htm

Good stuff, but honestly I still think the Borg would win despite the opinions. According to that site it's all based on the use of the DS planet destroying laser and or the Force. either way i think everyone is underestimating the Borg which is how they like it, easier to assimilate fools. First off I believe the Borg would know about the giant laser before it's charged enough to fire and simply to move out of the way, second no matter how many TIE fighters or Star Destroyers you send at it the cube would take a couple of decent hits and be impervious to anything the Imperials can send at it. Third, since it is a collective, the borg would have backup faster than the Imperials can say WTF, the DS might, and I put heavy emphasis on might, destroy one Cube, but you get 5 or 6 Cubes on scene and it's game over.

As far as the Force goes, there are some good points that Vader would just use mind control on them, but the Borg Queen would be impervious to this (seeing as she is immune to Q's power and he's stronger than anyone with Force powers (he has the equivalent power of God). Having said that she would simply inform the Collective of these Force powers and they would simple become immune to them, end of story.

Edit:Did some more searching and found these sites, definately must reads for anyone who has even remotely thought about a Star Wars vs. Star Trek battle...

http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=7435854 pages of nerdy goodness.

http://www.sciforums.com/encyc..._WarsA wikipedia of sorts discussing this great battle.

Borg would see the Emperor and Darth Vader a threat and just simply teleport them away.

And if I as a individual can think that. Imagine what a collective of minds can think.

Lol! I didn't think of that one!

Vader waves hand at Borg drones: This isn't that Death Star you're looking for...Borg Drones: This isn't the Death Star we're looking for...

Palpatine chuckles in the background as the drones leave confused...

Oh God Yes! Species 8472 made the Borg look like a$$! I mean, they destroyed an completely Borg assimilated planet (the chit looked like Cybertron, yo!) with just nine ships!

Beat this Death Star!
