Seriously, unless you have any useful information for Dave that may result in him getting his car back or getting out of his current situation, go get your own thread.
Yeh...even in Datte's thread that's pretty crappy.

If you want Dave, I can edit out all the BS. Of course that would take this back down to a one page thread instead of three. :chuckle:

Well, instead of a page of "aw sorry", it might be productive to discuss how to prevent it from happening again.

Obviously, a lesson has been learned about being too casual with a title. Never ever leave it in your car.

But if one decides not to carry comprehensive insurance (why is unimportant), that makes it even more important to try to make the car more difficult to steal. For example,

perhaps install a remote fuel cutoff switch, or perhaps a battery terminal disconnect switch, or maybe a simple steering wheel "club", or all of them. Yes, they all can be easily defeated by a pro, but many car thefts are done by kids looking for something easy to grab. With a bad economy, thefts tend to rise.

Move to a nicer area. Yes, that is real advice. You'll pay more for your rent/mortgage, but you'll save on insurance, spend less on doodads to lock down your property, and most importantly, won't have your things taken from you.

With all due respect, Bubba, I don't need a lecture on how not to keep my title in the car, nor do I need a thread about how to lock the car up so thieves can't get to it.

I need a thread about my car was stolen. This thing was being worked on extensively and it was not being driven yet.

Don't expect the police to do much. If someone finds it sitting somewhere and reports it to them, they'll let you know, but they aren't actively prowling the streets for it.

The one time I had a car stolen, a farmer reported it sitting in his field. Someone took it for a joyride and removed the awful two-knob analog tuner tape deck.

If you're looking for sympathy, you already have it. We all want you to get your car back intact. But discussing how others might prevent something similar from happening to them based on what just happened to you is helpful, not vindictive.

Sad fact is car theft can happen anywhere, to anyone, In any neighborhood, to any type of car. I expect that you will approach things more cautiously with your next car and its title(if your present one doesn't get found). Your experience should hopefully get everyone else that reads this thread to think about better protecting their cars and titles. It sucks to have a car stolen.

No, not sympathy. I was just letting everyone know about it.

TBH, no one has sympathy for me here in MD and I'm used to it... My father actually blamed the whole damn thing on me the other day, what an as$.
Because it wasn't parked in the driveway he thins it's my fault. This is the kind of crap I have to deal with.

That's retarded. Yea, it's totally your fault that some sweaty scrotum licker felt the need to steal your car.

Yeah, my old man is a crotchety fu*ker now-a-days. It must suck to be retired and have no hobbies other than watching baseball on TV.

Anyway, no news happens on a Sunday.

You made a statement, I commented on it. Therefore I am on topic as you have introduced this side topic. :slap:

Now, it really sucks about your car being stolen man. I honestly had no idea that those older cars were at the top of the most stolen list.

Due to the situation with the seller I'm not sure what hope you have. Without a replacement title it's possible for the thief to register the car to themselves! :frown:

I nearly lost my shiz the other day when i saw one that looked like your pic at the intersection of randolph road and new hampshire ave in silver spring....help me out here so if i see it again I can check it out more closely.

There's a dent in the hood on the front edge above the passenger headlight and painted-up rusty spots where the gray color is on the back bottom of the front fenders.

Bubba, thanks again, but it's a little too late. Please understand, this car was not "running". I have said it several times that it was not even road ready yet.

sucks about your car man. You are doing the best thing you can do right now put the word out everywhere. My exgfs integra was stolen a few years back. We had everyone we knew looking for it. My cousin was sitting in a parking lot at burger king on his dinner break and saw it drive by. He followed and called cops. The car was recovered but not before the police decided to rush up behind with lights on so the kid took off and ran and wrecked it. So much for following to a parking lot and trapping them. Good luck finding it and hopefully it was just some stupid kids that ditched it in a parking lot or something.
