if you're going to Turnbull Canyon Rd... NEVER go alone.

always have at least one other car with you

i'd heard stories of a lot of freaky **** that goes on up there after nightfall...

if you do go... don't stop in the middle of the run... if your tire is about to blow out, fall off, or say you got a flat on your runnin on rims... and it's night time... take your chances and get to the bottom quickly-- then deal w it

I love it when newbies talk about going up into the canyons. Don't crash out there.

Please be careful on GMR for more reasons than just your own car. The Mt. Baldy Road - Glendora Mountain Road route is one of the more popular bicycle and motorcycle routes around and you may very easily find a slow bicyclist climbing (weaving?) in the middle of the road or a fast motorcyclist on the wrong side of the road cutting a corner.

Lots of accidents and injuries and close calls up there......

I'm not a newbie..guy, I just started this topic to see if anyone wanted to enjoy a nice safe drive in the peaceful mountains. I go by myself all the time while listening to music, it relaxes mind body and soul. If you truely love the hobby of driving your nissan you would have no negative response, so Fall back jackass. You sir are not welcome

Hahahahaha. Wait, hahahaha.

No seriously though. Going up with a random group of people is just bad news. I've seen it happen time and time again in the past years I've driven that road. I love driving up there too. But after so many people going in massive groups, and either crashing, doing something dumb, or having cops patrol up there, it gets kinda old. The whole scene up there has changed drastically from 4 years ago. Beautiful road. Just the atmosphere sucks up there now. And I don't need to be welcomed by you to go up there, lol. Just be careful, and keep egos in check. I'm not pointing you out. Just generalizing.

hey guys i been up to turnbull almost every other night nowadays. it's pretty fun driving down the canyon and scary as hell if your on the hunt for ghosts haha. i havent seen anything out of the ordinary. no signs of kkk or nazi's or anything like that. though hells gate do creep me out alot. the only thing that i say is bad about turnbull would be some of the hondas going up there. they think they're the fastest around and rev at you everytime they pass by or anything lol

From the touge master himself, hahaha.

As Edgar said, large groups usually = bad idea. Pretty much every time I've been up there when there was a large group (I was coming separately w/ friends), someone crashed, went off the side, did stupid ****, etc, etc, etc.

Too many close calls because my dumb *** can't control my car right, so I only cruise up there during the day to relax now; haven't been there in months - I get my car groove on through safer means.

It's a lot more enjoyable @ tracks & autox when I can push my car hard w/o having to worry about cops & civilians.

If it's anything like it's been the last few years, if you want to roll w/ a big crowd, just go up Friday/Saturday night - or during summer, almost every night of the week.

i would say for turnbull right now everyone should either lay low or go just to cruise. i was there last night for a cruise. once we got down the canyon, a cop was waiting for us, pulled over the last car, a miata, and gave him a ticket for a loud exhaust.

Hi, I'm new to this blogging/ forum stuff, but i was specifically looking for people who went to the azusa canyons(GMR). I was wondering why it was that you people only go to cruise? Especially on the weekends(including Friday nights) you guys are burning the spot homies. Try to go during the week days and if your gonna go to **** around and not better your skill at driving then stay on highway 39, just park and look at the stars with your partner(s). ---thank you.

Do you mean Turnbull? if so , i have once because i have a friend that lives in that area(who kept bugging about it), and i must say, no offense to any one but, turnbull wasnt my cup of tea. the reason being its not only in a area were there is nothing but cops looking for ricers, but also because i got a honda (that cops would love to pull over) so thats a red flag for cops in itself. The road was too short and alot of regular pedestrian cars go through there and i went at 11:30pm. Over all i didnt like it. if you dont already, you should start going to GMR, its alot better in every aspect, besides the time it takes to get there in my case since i live in the middle of los angeles 90016 area look it up, its far! let me know if TB? is worth going to one day if you go with some people who actualy know the road, im down for sh_t like that.

If you're a noob then DONT drive alone.

That is the best advice i can give you. get some time behind the wheel, aquire a good susp. , tires & rims , then go have fun !!!!!

You gotta have experience to call a mountain run brotha, thats the rules...lol

Actually, I have been up there many times with large groups and never had a problem. I guess it just depends on whos leading the pack.

or they know their limits & stay w/in it...

have you done any real track driving? i.e. willow springs, button willow, etc? or even autocross? there's plenty of fast canyon runners tracking, but the vast majority of canyon/touge/midnight madness whatever, aren't even close.

I'd love to see you out at one of the local events - safer, you can go much more to the limit in a controlled environment (again, safer), and you get a lap time depending on what track/event you go to.

I totally agree with that, I dont wanna sound like a di#ck but that track stuff is to much work in a sense that you must do alot of prep up work to the car, as it is it takes me all day to setup my car from daily use to canyon(fluid check, tire pres. make sure bolts are tight). Also whos gonna pay $100 bucks just to run for about 4 hours with restrictions, you cant tell the officials there"hey wait up guys, tell every one to stop I want to slide this corner". to us "canyon guys" those $100 and even sometimes more$$, can be used for a set of front brakes/gas/a tire/ect. There no time limit, you dont have to wake up at the crack of dawn to head out to the canyon. I just think its gay! Some guys that go up to azusa also Rally and sometimes go to the track, but try telling them that the track is better and faster, and these guys will give you a long list of things i'v just typed and more, of the down side of track days. This is also a subject I'v been wanted to touch grounds on, thats why i have alot to say. Im sorry canyons arent for you, or maybe you like to wait once a month to afford to go to the track for "one" day, the canyons always there and free off charge and for sure at a high risk of your car, others and your life but just like the track you could still get hurt even with all those monky bars in your car and that narrow visioned helmet< so before you start about safty and all this limit stuff you should try to be fast at the canyon someday and you'll see what rush it is to beat evo's, wrx's, S2000's and other high powered cars with a piece of sh#t civic. again sorry I wrote to much but like i said i really wanted to touch grounds on this subject of Track v.s. Canyon both have pros and cons.
