3 sadly isn't that bad if you look at it this way. If you were to buy a engine from far away and a transmission ...say you bought a engine at 1200 like me...well after shipping it would prob be a bout 1400-1500...then the transmission. If you buy a t-56 they are about 1200-1400..then with shipping another 1400-1600 which comes out to 2800 to 3100 which is if you find good deals on the transmission still. So 3 really isn't bad if you look at it if you have to get the items shipped to you even at a cheaper price.

I have the car and the motor set already. 91 Hatch and 98 LS1 A4. Waiting on time to get it in the shop and start playing with it but I got distracted by this super cheap 91 hatch with an SR20 that I bought.

I have too many damn projects.

I've had an LSX swap on my mind for half a year now and would love to do it!But i've recently decided that renting a place to live is a bad idea and owning a house is a great one!So the few thousands I have saved and the 10 or so thousand i have in vehicles (that i will have to get serious about selling) may go towards a house. But there are a lot of houses out there and there are a few first time buyer programs out there that can get me (or anyone) great low interest rates and downpayments.I may still be able to pull off the swap by next summer (as I had planned). So long as I don't get to expensive of a house. The house will come first though. Now my 240 is running into problems (i beleive injectors) and i don't know if i should drop a few hunred on 370cc injectors and a few more mods just to keep my modding addiction pleased.

edit: maybe i'll just sell everything and buy a beater (point a to b car) that i would have no need to modify. Seriously though

But I am extremely interested in those sites HITMAN!!!

how bout some AMS ls1 swap mounts/headers?(doubt they'll like the idea @ AMS, since they're mostly imports)

(sorry if i've been posting too much on this thread, but we need something better than hinsons mounts)

If you know of someone building one that doesn't post here regularly, please link them to this thread.

Thanks!
Mine should be running in a month or so...time permitting. Then all it needs is paint and I'll be on the road.

I picked up my swap for $2300 last summer from a 98 Z28 w/ M6, harness, ecu, driveshaft, etc. so they can be had for a reasonable price. Like someone stated before, there are variations of the LS1 in both aluminum and iron that come in 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, etc. Check LS1tech.com for more detailed info. There is a very active forum on there w/ many 240 LSX swaps both finished and in progress. I will definitely be visiting this forum now that I know there is a Hybrid forum here and offer any help I can provide.

Quick info...my LS1 is going into a 1996 Nissan 240SX and is bone stock. Engine management is provided by a Painless Wiring Perfect Hi-RPM Standalone and sits on modified mounts purchased from carshopinc.com...

http://carshop.carshopinc.com/...648cc

I'm using Hinson Headers (worth every penny for the time and trouble saved) and driveshaft. Once I finish, I'll post up all my pictures and a little more detail.

Teaser pic...

Reading is gooood...can we start the story now?

I just put a link to the motor mounts I used right above yours. I did not use the Hinson kit. I only ordered their headers and driveshaft. The rest can be done cleaner and more efficiently in my opinion. Their headers, however, are definitely worth the price.

We are seriously considering working on a swap xmember, mounts, headers, etc.

Give us some time though. We have so much going on its crazy.

An E30 M3 with an LSX would be awesome. I am betting it would be a tight squeeze though. I just got done with and M50 swap in one and that was TIGHT!!!!

So where are the blown v8's. I'd figure some baller would have done this by now. Smokey's putting TT v-12's in supra's why not a super or turbo charged v8 in a 240. Probably would barely stay on the road, but I would like a ride in one!

OK - Now who, out of this group, has some design skills?

Not necessarily page coding, but could make a great page design? Coding ability would be the icing...

With today's software... Page design and coding are almost one in the same. Coding is more of a fine tuning thing. Although when customizing / scratch coding forums, coding knowledge is an absolute must.

I can design a nice functional page, but I am limited to HTML... And my knowledge of web coding is pretty sparse. I could hand a template off to a real web developer, but i think that is less efficient than what you want.

Hey Greg, when are we going to have an "under construction" page up on those two URL's you linked??

Any rough time frame on when you'd figure you'd want to reproduce and distribute somthing of the sort?

I'd be plenty happy with just that.

I'd rather just have a page done and ready than an "under construction" page.

Looks like he either cut up a spare cross member, or filled in his holes with blank steel and made holes w/ a drill press.

But that's just my rough guess.

Seller was motivated.

Have to drive to indiana to pick it up though (from georgia), but well worth it considering those usually go for around 5k.

Im looking into a supercharger, but have to wait and get the motor placed to see if there is room. Magnuson makes a low profile roots type, may go with that.

Lucky mofo. You mind finding me one for $2k? I'll throw in $500 for your troubles.

Chris, I would also like to do my own mounting, considering Hinson's kit puts spacers between the frame and crossmember. Would you mind posting some pics of your mounts (in the bay) and maybe some tips on how to properly mount it?

Thanks!

If I do I'll send it your way. Hell, I missed an 05' LS2 swap for $3200 last month. I was pissed, lol.

I got a rough idea from others who have done/are doing the swap on how much and where to cut. It didn't hurt that I already had the GTO oil pan to check clearance. I just used a simple hand grinder (pictured) w/ a metal cut off wheel and a vise. Once cut, I MIG welded in some (I believe) 3/16" mild steel. To fill in the stock motor mount holes, I just used a MIG welder. For some, it would be easier to cut out an insert and weld it in those holes.I then drilled two holes on the mount "pods" with a hand drill. Nothing special. I unbolted my stock subframe and went to town. Didn't mess up so no need to get a spare.

The universal LS1 motor mount kit I purchased from CarShop, Inc.http://carshop.carshopinc.com/...648cc

Next came fitment. Welded a support bracket because the weight falls a little forward of the crossmember and bolted it to the subframe.

Before final installation...

Underneath...
