well duh, apple = hip!zacmil wrote:I would disagree. That, in my humble opinion, is the reason for all of the Mac pollution on college campuses. While I admit that Apple makes some excellent products (iPod FTW) I get annoyed at how overpriced and overhyped everything is. I also get really annoyed at being expected to pay $150 for a simple repair and I get even more annoyed that because of my DIY job they won't touch it if I ever require a major repair
Haha! That's why I said MOST Mac users. I have no problems with people who do their research and make an informed decision based on their particular needs and experiences. The problem I see is a lot of people buy one because the Mac commercial says that it's better than a PC.Jesda wrote:

The Microsoft ad says a PC with Windows is better. Pick your bandwagon. Mac OS X has 6% of the market. I don't know why computer geeks complain so much about it.zacmil wrote:

I think the fact the ipad will be selling at 500 when everyone thought 999, has alot of companies scrambling to lower their production cost to be able to compete or miss on the opportunity to rake in profits for themselves. In the end it opened the floodgates, for people who wanted any type of tablet.Rare_f8 wrote:I been waiting for a big a** touch screen pad with internet capabilities.
Will I get the ipad. No.
Why? I like it to be more open sourced. Like a pocket pc. Where I can install any browser of my choice. But this is one step closer to having a affordable wireless internet pad ( of course not a MAC.. sorry....) that's easy to carry around and not a mini computer. IMO.

I know all of this... I don't really try to hate on Macs, I just think it's silly when people drop a stupid amount of money on a Mac when they could get a comparable PC for a lot less money. I also realize that things come down to personal preference and that it's a little silly to argue that one is superior to the other, they both have their pros and their cons. Like I said, Apple makes some excellent products, like the iPod, I just don't think most of what they make is worth the money.initial_jc wrote:I didn't buy my mac because a witty commercial (marketing is good but not enough to drop the amount of money that i did), I bought it because i got tired of windows, and i actually found it suitable for my needs. Apple isn't racking the money in because they make s***ty products. Eventhough there are plenty of people that may fall for the commercials, but im sure there is people who do go buy things on the first tho just to be able to say they had it
What are you talking about?AZ89two4Tsx wrote:People like macs because they "flow." They don't have annoying little quirks like PC's and they work alot smoother. The whole price and value thing is very subjective.
Can you describe how it sucks? How Macs just "flow" compared to them?AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Windows is so freaking annoying. I hate it.
It just sucks.
Everything you just said sounds like you bought a bunch of low-end equipment and want to complain about it.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:My computer is in good shape. No viruses or anything like that.
All the time (I use chrome), I get that annoying flash player error and have to ctrl, alt, del and end the task. This usually happens almost every 10 minutes if it's a bad night. I have to close my whole browser.
Sometimes my computer randomly freezes up.
Keys on my keyboard are sticking.
The build quality on PC laptops are nowhere near a mac. They feel cheap and plasticy. All of them except maybe a really high end PC
It sometimes lags when you click on something
Touch pad randomly stops working
I could go on and on and on.....
A lot of these things have happened to all the computers my family has owned. We've had HPs, Dells, Compaqs, and a couple others. Windows just sucks and now, they're playing catch up with Apple.

So you're suggesting that I am trying to be a 'cool kid' and that I'm making uninformed opinions in favor of Apple's products? Hm. I never said "I want an iPad because they're cool..? It is an innovative product, and a lot of people could probably get the most from it. I was simply saying that after it's been out a while, it will open up to more people that don't own / dont want to own an iphone, but could utilize the apps that will be developed, the growing popularity of ebooks, etc..zacmil wrote:I would disagree. This has been an age-old argument that has been reamed. To. Death. Not worth arguing about.zacmil wrote:

Uh.. The iPod touch and iPhone software IS based off of OSX architecture.EazyBreazy wrote:Apple should have developed a more streamlined version of OS-x aimed at mobile devices
HP is generally crap. Compaq? EL OH EL!AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Isn't HP like the best selling PC brand or something? WHY?!?! I don't get it.
Yeah you don't know what you're talking about. I work for a big internet provider. And the first thing I can tell you is that mac's are very quirky especially with their MacMail client. Try explaining this to the dumb dumb calling in wanting to know what is wrong with the email servers because it works on one of his macs and the other one it doesn't (and of course it can't be their wonderful infallible piece of Apple garbage) . Even though the settings are exactly the same on both machines. I give them the phone number for Apple, let them explain. It's even better if they have a Windows machine that can get email, very funny how they can't get their brain around that phenomenon.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:People like macs because they "flow." Windows does not suck. You're proving yourself to be more an more of a fanboi every time you talk about Macs. Your opinion is blind! Also, I'm sure your aunt's one experience has everything to do with everyone else's. Not.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Windows sucks. Toshiba does too. My aunt has one and has oodles of problems.
They are pretty popular, it's just more of a high-end piece of equipment. You just don't roll in those circles.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:If Toshiba really was THAT GOOD, wouldn't they be more popular? It's not like they just came out yesterday.
The fact they can control it has more to do with the fact they don't let other manufacturers make their equipment. They usually call it a monopoly around here...AZ89two4Tsx wrote:And the fact that Apple can basically start and control trends, compete with ALL windows computers, and create such new and innovative products really says a lot. I would buy a Powermac if I was doing graphics, yeah. I wouldn't buy one otherwise because I am always changing the options and adding new ones and Mac is just too limited. I would rather have a PC with Linux on it and either operating system type on it also so I can run everything.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Would you really take a PC over a mac if they were the same price Dave?
You just contradicted yourself from your statement about HPs, Compaqs, and Dells.Dattebayo wrote:

Since when is Toshiba "high end?" On their website, they have 29 different models under $800.Dattebayo wrote:They are pretty popular, it's just more of a high-end piece of equipment. You just don't roll in those circles.
Why should they? That would go against what they stand for and make them just as crappy as Windows. They became successful doing it THEIR WAY.Dattebayo wrote:

Why not Linux on Mac?Dattebayo wrote:I would buy a Powermac if I was doing graphics, yeah. Exactly how?AZ89two4Tsx wrote:You just contradicted yourself from your statement about HPs, Compaqs, and Dells.
Hmm, well I was referring to the Satellite. My graphics buddies online love 'em.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Since when is Toshiba "high end?" On their website, they have 29 different models under $800.
Not true, not if you know your history.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Why should they? That would go against what they stand for and make them just as crappy as Windows. They became successful doing it THEIR WAY.
Because it won't support anything I want, really.AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Why not Linux on Mac?
