Yeah, if you want to make something for the V. Please do the following.

Rip the cylinder head off of the engine. See how much we can increase our bore size without ruining the integrity of the block. And that way a Stroker kit can be made. Forged pistons, better connecting rods, performance cranks, and the whole kit and kubutle. Make it into a 2.1L Stroker, ready for Nitrous Oxide, and a big fat T88 Turbo. Oh, dont forget the Turbo Exhaust Manifold, we dont have those yet either. You get those made and mass produced and man, I will be your first customer!!

Oh, and by the way Racingline, I used to work with a company that had the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines that can cut shifters from a block in minutes. Hell, we even took the bonnet off of a Cobalt, made a shell and then made a true carbon fibre hood for him!! Silly? I think not. CHC Helicopters in Gander, Newfoundland. We made parts for Sikorsksy Helicopters, Fibreglass and Carbon Fibre. I know the process and know how easily its made at a machine shop. I know its hard to make it at a garage not equipped with the proper money saving tools.

BUT......I am not dissing your product, just dissing the price, could be lower thats all. I think STS are a great addition to ones car, it really gets alot of attention from onlookers and can increase your visual rating for the interior.

Some things that may be close to what you produce for other cars that you could possibly sell:

-Cheap strut tower bar (market is getting saturated with these though)-Rear sway bar with end links (see you have endlinks, but Versa doesn't have a rear bar, thought I believe there is like 1-2 places that have them, hard to find though)

Maybe more.

Making anything with a $300,000 Haas is easy and fast, but a few points to consider:

-I don't own such a machine, I design, test, then contract a shop we work closely with for CNC made parts

-shop time is generally very expensive $100/hr+

- you don't even know what the sts looks like, or the materials involved. It is not just aluminum, nor is it a shaft spun on a lathe like your civic STS.

-The helicopter parts may or may not have been cheap to make but regardless of your shops cost....YOU SOLD IT FOR MORE THAN YOUR COST-knowbody in business is going to sell things at cost. There are alot of other costs involved in running a business. Every part costs more than what the shop charges to make it, there is R&D costs that need to be recouped, warehousing costs, packaging, general expenses, some level of profit, etc

-in a year or 2 you may find something on ebay for 50-60 that will make you happy but not have any customer service or warranty

Ok I'm done, not much else to mention without beating a dead horse, when it's done you either like it or you don't

Racingline, im not here saying that your inequipped to create a STS, the ability to do it is unquestionable. Whether you use a CNC Machine or Lathe. Im just bolding the "price". Its only going to basically be a chunk of aluminum cut to size. Its not a performance inhancing device that needs to be put through rigorous testing. I mean if its going to cost Company A (for example) $100 to produce the STS and then sell for $120 Retail to make 20 bucks, or its going to cost Company B (for example) $50 to produce the STS and then sell it for $75 to make 25 bucks. I think its better for the whole Versa Environment to get the company who gives the best equipped and least expensive solution to making a non essential part made. If you were creating a Turbo Exhaust Manifold, I can see why a company would charge so much, with the redesigns, hours of labour and sweat and blood put into the final results.

ya but my points were there is still some element of r&d involved. and making the first 1-3 pieces is expensive. Those costs need to be recouped. you can't just simply make some thing by the 100's and hope you nail it dead on the first time and expect no revisions. Those first few pieces do contain sweat and tears at least. not to mention the seat time doing the desiging. So much more costs than just machine time

Just because it's a "non essential" part as you put it, does not mean it can be produced without due care. Making is wrong can have all sorts or damaging effects. If it's weighted wrong it may be hard to find the gears, leading to mis-shifts and ultimately damage to either synchros or the motor. If the alignment is not right you might also damage the syncros. With that in mind I do not think the least expensive and least tested part is always the best option?

As too price as I mentioned before aswell, the "quote" is based of the altima sts which has 4 individual elements to it, comprised of a mix of machined aluminum, machined stainless steel, laser cut stainless steel, anodized components, and 10.9 hardware

OK, now your throwing in, "a mix of machined aluminum, machined stainless steel, laser cut stainless steel, anodized components, and 10.9 hardware"

Ok, I now know what you intend to make. It seemed you were going to make a cheap little "plate". But it looks like your going to make a more complicated system than that.

Lets see what the final piece/pieces look like and then grab a price!

PS.... Im not hatin Racingline just to let you know!
