Hell, we even took the bonnet off of a Cobalt, made a shell and then made a true carbon fibre hood for him!! Silly? I think not. CHC Helicopters in Gander, Newfoundland. We made parts for Sikorsksy Helicopters, Fibreglass and Carbon Fibre. I know the process and know how easily its made at a machine shop. I know its hard to make it at a garage not equipped with the proper money saving tools.
BUT......I am not dissing your product, just dissing the price, could be lower thats all. I think STS are a great addition to ones car, it really gets alot of attention from onlookers and can increase your visual rating for the interior.
Making anything with a $300,000 Haas is easy and fast, but a few points to consider:
-I don't own such a machine, I design, test, then contract a shop we work closely with for CNC made parts
-shop time is generally very expensive $100/hr+
- you don't even know what the sts looks like, or the materials involved. It is not just aluminum, nor is it a shaft spun on a lathe like your civic STS.
-The helicopter parts may or may not have been cheap to make but regardless of your shops cost....YOU SOLD IT FOR MORE THAN YOUR COST-knowbody in business is going to sell things at cost. There are alot of other costs involved in running a business. Every part costs more than what the shop charges to make it, there is R&D costs that need to be recouped, warehousing costs, packaging, general expenses, some level of profit, etc
-in a year or 2 you may find something on ebay for 50-60 that will make you happy but not have any customer service or warranty
Ok I'm done, not much else to mention without beating a dead horse, when it's done you either like it or you don't
