Carlosf22 wrote:Good, how was the down payment, do you have the numbers they are using? I will be hitting the dealers in a couple weeks. Also, how long do you have to wait for the order.
They did not want to give me the numbers they were using, I kinda got the feeling like the dealer thought I didn't know how the formula works. They had a chart which he showed me, from Nissan it seems. All the deals were for 3,000 down (which Nissan likes to use for their deals). He first quoted me 318 a month for a 2.5s with convinience and moonroof but I got it down to 290 for 39 months and 3,000 down payment. Which is pretty much what I wanted to pay for the 2.5.

I was originally interested in what kind of a deal I could get for a 3.5se but I dunno wtf is wrong with rates because they were insane. Something like 360 a month with 3,000 down. Almost a 100 more for like a 3,000 difference. I think the problem was that I noticed they had a 2,000 mark-up on the fully loaded 3.5se they had on the floor.

As far as waiting, he told me he's gonna check the order list for all of their coupes and all the nearby dealers to see if anyone is getting my car. If not he has to order one from Nissan. He's gonna call me on that, and I'll see what happens.

All NYC dealers only have 1, maybe 2 in stock.... it's not like FL where each dealer has 6.

Gentlemen, that's how leases work. On a purchase, $1,000 will change your payment somewhere between 17 and 20 dollars. On leases, $1,000 will change your payment between 30 and 35 dollars. So, if the price was $3,000 more, the payment will be close to $100 more.

i'm planning on getting the 3.5 SE w/ premium package as soon as it is available. an old friend of mine from college is a sales manager and has promised me a good deal. however, prior to now, i havent spoken with him in a few years. therefore i dont know how well i can trust him or if he is giving me the well known "car dealer" stereotype. MSRP for my preferences run about $29,300. as this is my first car purchase, i need some advice. is $28,000 a reasonable asking price? too much? too little?thx

What I am hearing is that most dealers are mandated not to go below sticker. I hear rumors of some even marking up from sticker. The car is in such hot demand, they can turn you down and get the next person to pay sticker. I got $300 below sticker but that was because we were buying two cars. Otherwise, they told me there was no way they would have gone below sticker. Maybe your area is different but I am hearing that the story is pretty much the same everywhere. It can't hurt to ask that but odds are not in your favor for getting it at $1300 off sticker. Good luck man. Honestly, even if you get it at sticker, it is worth it. It is a great car.

that is not at all how it works.. each 1000 down on the lease should have 30-40$/mo difference depending on terms, but 1000 on sticker should NOT be that much. 3000 on sticker with 53% residual should be like financing 1,500 less down or 30-40$/mo difference.

The dealer at the right time might mark off the sticker but I know at our dealership I have given 2 people, in our store, hot to buy the coupe we had in stock, numbers at sticker and we would not budge.. we watched them walk out.. The car lasted 30 minutes after the second person walked out of the store. We sold 3 coupes the first day we had one, the one in stock, and 2 ordered.

hey since you're a dealer I got a question for you. How quick are dealers with ordering cars if they are not in stock. Should I be calling my dealer to make sure he hasn't forgotten me? It's just that if the car is not in stock anywhere nearby, I want them to factory order it asap and not wait around pointlessly. can you give me some advice on it?

Picture this, I just went to a dealer that's like 1 mile from my house just to see the car, beautiful, can't wait to get mine. Anyway, they had the 2.5s w/cvt, no extras, the salesman (could tell he was new) told me it was $25k, when the sticker showed $21740, then I asked about the lease, he said with $3500, $480 a month, what! he said oh no it's $380 a month, he was thinking on another car. What was this guy thinking? For a base Coupe! Let me cross one dealer off my list.

i hope you weren't just buying into his BS but were actually correcting him or trying to reason how what he's saying isn't making sense. Almost every dealer I went to, had no idea what they're talking about, telling me ridiculous prices for the coupe. i haven't ran into a dealer that told me "i don't know," they all rather bs something instead of admitting that they dont know. One dealer would not acknowledge the fact that there is no convinience package plus for the 2.5s, but rather just a convinience package; so he stood there arguing with me until I left; he also, like yours, told me that to lease one would be at least 350 dollars for a base 2.5s.

I gotta say, I am pretty thankful for my dealer. He was very up front, honest and new a ton about the coupe. You could tell they were well trained on the details about the coupe. The only thing they did that was annoying was they limited my test drive to 15 minutes. They said that it was a showpiece and brought people in. Of course, since I bought it and drove it off the lot 2 hours later, I wonder how they are handling the loss of their showpiece. They don't get another one until next week.

what is everyone's thoughts on this, i need some serious advice: i am without a doubt buying the 3.5SE. now the question is, do i want to drop the extra $3400 for the premo package? im a 25 yr old single bachelor on a budget so the logical choice would be to just get the standard, however i feel like if im spending that $ i may as well spend the extra rather then regret it later on. i have the option to buy the standard dark slate today or wait indefinitly for one with the premo package.

as a side note, my friend is a sales manager for nissan. i cant get a deal on the car but i could get a deal on some aftermarket stuff. taht being said, should i buy the premo package or just get the standard package and get a deal on an aftermarket navi?

3.5SE premium:

* Power sliding glass moonroof with tilt feature * Leather-appointed seats and door trim * Heated front seats * Leather-wrapped shift knob * Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System * Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) * Digital Bose® audio system with AM/FM/in-dash 6-CD changer and 9 speakers * MP3/WMA CD playback capability * Radio Data Service (RDS) * XM® Satellite Radio1 * Speed-sensitive volume control * HomeLink® Universal Transceiver * Auto-dimming inside rearview mirror with compass * Illuminated center console * Patterned metallic trim (Charcoal Leather interior only) * High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon headlights

= wtf? = ...right = nice, but not really worth the extra cash if that was all. = That's what i'm talking about, I'm spending money for this. = OMG YEAH~! YEAH~!

so altim8, bottom line is, if you can live without the leather seats, the moon roof, the custom made BOSE audio system (with 9 speakers including 2 subs), the xenon light, and the heated front seats. then don't get the premo. I can't live without the premo lol

I don't know about after market, but i'd doubt you could get a moonroof or leather seats from there. Maybe the sound system, and shurly the xenon light. Anyways too much effort for me

Enter the numbers first with 2,000 down, then with 3,000 down. Nissan's best leases are usually 36 or 39 months. See if the payment is not 30-35 dollars apart.

mcheddadi,

I noticed we're in the same city. Did you order your's and have you heard of any launch date in Canada? If you ordered, what arrival date was given to you?

I plan on getting the 3.5SE fully loaded; was told by a dealer they're expected to be launched sometime at the end of June or early July and if I ordered now would have it then. Don't know if this is just a ploy to get me to pre-order.

BTW, agree with your ratings except:

* Bluetooth: invaluable for me so I don't have to juggle my phone around; guess it depends on if you use a cell phone in the car often

* Bose radio: always heard that this brand sucks, but I'll wait to see for myself. 9 speakers should sound awesome no matter what the brand

* Xenon headlights: does it really matter

Other than that, good assessment.

I am not sure if your WTF assesment of the Universal Home link transciever was because you don't like it or don't know what it is. If it is the latter, this is a cool feature. It means you don't have to have your garage or gate remote in your car. You can program up to 3 remotes into the car and there is a button on the rearview mirror. It is a cool feature but if you don't have an automatic gate or garage door, it is useless.

As for the Bose stereo, it is awesome. It sounds great and is pretty easy to use.

The bluetooth was a must for me. I guess my only complaint is sometimes the voice recognition can be touchy. If you have the windows down or if there is loud noise outside the car, it picks it up and misreads your command. It also has a hard time with my gf's southern accent.

The metallic trim on the charcoal leather is a joke. It is plastic made to look like metal. Nissan could have done a better job with this IMO.

I would have to say, if you can afford it, the premium package is well worth it. But that is just my humble opinion.

btw Dynot,

Xenon headlights, HUUUUGE difference. I kept messing with my lights for the first 2 days because I thought I had my brights on. They are that bright. Saved my *** the other day because I saw a deer I wouldn't have seen without these headlights. Yes, I would say, it does matter. They make a big difference.

BOSE audio rocks, they make some of the best audio equippment in the world (not bleeding edge pro stuff, but still high fidelity!)

"Bose Corporation has endeavored to strike an economic balance between cost and performance to provide high quality as judged by the average listener whose criteria of quality include faithful reproduction of the listener's experience in a live performance, which according to Bose requires a dominance of the reverberant sound field in the listening space (a typical home environment)." wikipedia

I ordered may 18th, they told me I was the second one to order from them and that i'd get it by the end of july. he didn't have a lauch date yet though .

The dealer I went to said if I ordered today I would get it as soon as its launched around the end of June. This is because they have tracked down the car with the color and options I want and its on a train headed to some dealer in the US. They said they have traded for it.

This I can believe because I know dealerships trade cars often; the launch date I find questionable but still possible (one month after the US launch is reasonable).

Did you go see more than one dealer? Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks

PS: thanks to you and hattrix for clarifying those options.

I went to one dealer but I got lucky. There was 2 in the area. One dealer didn't have the premium package, one did. I called the day it went on sale and made an appointment for a test drive. I was lucky in that they hadn't sold it yet. I went in and test drove and bought it all in one shot. I didn't have to wait at all. However, after the test drive, we left it unlocked. 3 people got in it and were messing with the stuff inside and asking saleman for test rides. I had to come back later that day to drop something off to the dealer and someone saw it in the lot and wanted to buy it. Basically, if I had been one hour later, it would probably have been gone. My point is, I had two choices, buy it now, or wait weeks or even months, to get one. Obviously, I chose the former option. I don't regret it at all.

The most accurate comment in any of these articles is the last comment of the last article, "the nissan altima coupe is fun to drive." It is absolutely fun to drive. I have enjoyed every minute of the 1000 miles I have put on it. Word of advice to anyone who does buy it; GO DRIVE A TWISTY ROAD!!. It is a blast. Wait until you are a bit used to the car and trust it and then let her rip through the twists a decent speed. I challenge you to not have a smile on your face when you are done.

I just drove one this afternoon, an Azure Blue SE with the premium package. The one thing I didn't get to do was drive it down a twisty road. Most of the test drive was on the interstate, where I became frighteningly impatient with traffic. Somewhere between the time I dispatched the left lane blockers on I-64, and the time I finished dealing with the section of interstate that I usually drive on, I noted the salesman holding onto the passenger grip for dear life.

Despite the fact that I've promised myself other things, like a '09 Camaro, I though I'd try this, and I find myself tempted, to a point. I should be. After all, I basically crop dusted the area with whoop-a** using this car. I find the ride firmer than my current car, but it won't be too rude to deal with the nasty roads I commonly deal with. For what I drove, there are other choices. For the car I'd prefer, which would have the six speed, there's but one other choice, and the Accord coupe simply doesn't have the looks .

Hey all, my first post on this site. Just ordered the 3.5 SE 6 spd coupe in Azure blue with the premium package yesterday. Likely won't get it until the end of July. Took so much work to get it done. Initially started looking into leasing the G35 coupe but the pricing for that was just way too much. Then went home and found the Altima coupe and was amazed. I went to test drive it the next day and loved it. They had a black 3.5SE without any package in it but the drive was great and I drove it in stick. Loved it. Just don't know what the Bose system sounds like but i'm sure it sounds great. Had so many dealers telling me that they couldn't tell me exactly what cars they had coming in and when they'd be getting them. They just said that it could just show up, it was such BS. Then I had a hard time finding someone that would be able to give me a good time frame for how long it would take to get it if I ordered it. Finally found a dealer that gave me a good time frame, went in to order and then he told me that he wanted a $1500 premium, I walked out and called a bunch of other dealers. Finally got a good price with a dealer that seemed like he knew what he was doing. Going to have to somehow manage until the end of July when I should be getting my car. Very excited about this car. Nissan really looks like they have a hit on their hands.

The only place I saw the Altimma coupe recently was at the auto show back in Jan/07. I ordered a 08 Altima Coupe, black 3.5SE with the Premium Package: Sunrood, Bose, leather etc around Apriil 25/07.

My contact say my car is going to be at the dealer by late June...yippee!

I have not seen any on the road at Vancouver. Somehow, in the USA, the launch has been very well organize with dealers getting some show cars on May 25/07 as advertise in many of the car magazines...but in Canada, dealer knowledge is very poor....some has no idea when the launch is suppose to be or when they are going to get cars.

I was at Los Angeles late May and pop into a couple of Nissan dealers andd they have the cars in the show room. Both dealer I look at put $5,000 dealer markup on the car (I don't think they will get it) and also put 20 inch chrome wheels with either 255 or 245 tires on them.

It is going to be a great car!

Been a royal pita over the past month but I am happy to say the mission was a success. My daughter got the call May 30th that FINALLY a 2008 Coupe had arrived. I had placed numerous calls all over W. PA, W.V., Ohio, NY and even Ill. for this car. I was told the same song and dance repeatedly:Cars weren't hitting the assembly line till May 7th.Due in dealerships May 25th, June 1st, June 8th and as late as June 18th.NO ORDERS WILL BE TAKEN.ALL VEHICLES WILL BE SOLD ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. blah blah blah.. what a way to do business.I checked the Nissan dealers' inventory sites two/three times a day. They were hitting dealers in Virginia and Ill. on Monday, May 28th so I knew they were coming.None of the dealers I spoke to could tell me what they'd be getting or how many. Then on Wed. the 30th she got the call. All she had to hear was SUPER BLACK and it was pretty much a done deal. Came in 2.5 S, Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS), Moon roof (Convenience pkg.), moon roof wind deflector, floor and trunk mats, and aluminum kick plates. She picked it up the next day (May 31st) and has been turning heads up and down the interstate to work and back and/or being followed to answer the questions "WHAT IS THAT and WHERE CAN I GET ONE?" In the meantime I am the one left to field endless calls from ALL those dealers I contacted, calling to tell my daughter that they GOT HER CAR IN. Ooops, sorry... like I told them all, the first one to call with SUPER BLACK got the sale. It's been well over a week now and even though all the dealers in the W. PA area did get them in (1 or 2 at the most), we have yet to see another one on the roads/interstates etc. She on the other hand is having a blast in it and will continue for a few yrs. to come. For those of you who ordered one: ENJOY THE RIDE!!!

hey tammy, can you please post some pics of your coupe. I ordered a Super Black 2.5s coupe with the convinience package as well but have yet to see any pics of a super black 2.5s. I'd love to see how it looks since I'm going to have the same car. Thanks.

I just purchased my Altima Coupe Friday evening! I got it in Super Black and it's the 3.5 SE w/ <all> the goodies; premium trim, technology package (which I love), vehicle dynamic control, etc. I was worried I'd regret this purchase being a new model car and all but after three days of driving (~190 miles so far) I must say it's a great ride; comfy, packed full of goodies, and seems to handle great thus far.

Oh yeah ... I for sure get a lot of looks (and even some screams from little girls!).

I saw some of you were looking for Super Black pictures ... Well here are a few!
