Post

Folks, Guess it's about time I joined. I first heard about the Altima Coupe sometime May while I was looking for a new car. Never imagined I would ultimately get one - it was worth the wait. Anyway, I left my name w a salesman at the dealer w a request to call me when the coupe gets in. I forgot all about it until June 20. He called me and said they were expecting a Pearl White 2.5S and a Grey 3.5SE, both w black leather & full load except Nav. Put money down on the 2.5S over the phone and waited. Picked up the coupe on July 3. Car drives well and love that XMS Sat radio; for some two weeks, I did not see any other coupe on the road. Today, I brought it in for the 1000 KM check - was advised about the recall for the air intake deflector - although I was already asking the dealer parts guy about a cold air intake. Another minor thing - there was a squeak on the brake pedal - dealer said it was the brake light switch? which will be replaced next service. Also picked up the all-weather floor mats and am waitiing for the trunk tray mat - which I am not sure if it is needed at all. Will post pictures later. See you later.

Hey Ramon, Ive got a pearl white 2.5 and yes I also have that squeak in the brake pedal! Glad it wasnt just me thinking i was being overly cautious. I'll be getting that fixed. Also watch out for transmission fluid leak....i already had to get the radiator and two hoses replaced...no idea if it was a factory issue or they ****ed up during rust proofing. Let me know if u hear anything about a CAI....i want one too! Preferably Nismo parts. Get the aluminum kick plates....they look nice.

here's a funny review, the guy reviews the 2.5S thinking that he's reviewing the 3.5SE . He keeps telling how the 2.5S is not all that sporty, but that's normal since nissan only gave the 3.5SE the 270-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine with Traction Control System (TCS), 17" Aluminum-alloy wheels, Sport-tuned suspension with retuned front stuts and thicker front (24.2 mm) stabilizer bar and the optional Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC). anyways the titlle says "Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5 S Review" (there's no 3.5 S, only a 2.5 S. the 3.5 is SE) and everywhere up to the very last line he says 2.5S.http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/?p=4416

Anyhow, glad I choose the 3.5SE over the 2.5S (or 3.5S as the guys says in his article lol)

EDIT: Looks like he realized his error and changed it. Lol but still that was a big misleading error, you start reading thinking he's talking about the 3.5 and then you don't know what he's talking about anymore.

Here's a screenshot of the page before he corrected it.

I'm assuming that you removed the moonroof wind deflector? If so, how hard was it to remove, and does it damage the paint at all?

Mine is being ordered with the wind deflector, only because the dealer said the system wouldn't let them order it without it. But I would prefer not to have it.

Thanks.

The 3.5S is for the 4 door only and is a Canadian variation.

I really like the balck wheels on that Coupe. They would look slick on our Dark Slate Coupe

I agree, I did the exact thing to my '94 Z28 that I just sold. I like the look...probabaly not enough to rattle can the wheels on a new car but we'll see after the car arrives and I live with it a few weeks. (Besides, I'm far more mature these days and would powder coat rather than spray )

Hi there. Dealer called today - no CAI yet, either from Nismo or AEM or Fujita. Car is too new; re trunk tray, Nissan's been shipping them a trunk tray for the sedan, but labeled for the coupe. Re transmission leak, I am keeping an eye on it; so far so good. Dealer just did the 1000 km check last Saturday - they would have seen any leak (I hope). You got your Sat radio working? I am not sure how many free weeks I am getting - I just have to wait and see. Do any among you folks notice if your fuel consumption is accurately calculated by the computer? I have had three fill-ups - I am averaging 11 liters/100 kms (have the CVT ytanny) - and the computer is about 10% off (shows lower consumption than actual). Enjoy your coupes.

Three months...at least that's what I was told by the dealer.

Pretty accurate give or take .2L/100kms. One thing's for sure, its only slightly higher than my previous AWD Subaru and that was a 4-cylinder vs my 3.5 6-banger coupe. In fact, I calculated my cost/km for both cars and with the Sub it cost me an average of 10 cents and with my coupe 12 cents per km. Works out to about $5 a week more but I feel well worth it for the additional HP.

Thanks for the feedback; will be keeping tabs on actual gas consumption vs computer readings for the next 3 tankfuls. Either way, it's till better than my old car which used premium @ 12.5 liters/100 kms; figure I am saving 11 cents per liter plus an extra 1 km per liter.

That black looks like perfect. What did you use to get it to shine like that. I understand that its a new car but that looks like a million dollar paint job. I'm still waiting on my slate color and I'm looking for any tips to get it shinny as hell like that.

Sorry i guess i was looking at diane82's car. While i'm on here i wanna ask yall if you think the car has a ruff ride. I was talking to a freind of mine and she was a Altima sedan. She said its feels pretty ruff going over bumps. Is there any difference in the Coupe and sedan. Do any of your couple owners feel the ride is "rocky?"

Only had my coupe for a few days, but I was expecting it to be a pretty rough ride, but it's actually been quite comfortable. I don't think it's rough at all.

Very very smooth. Especially when compared to the new Mitsubishi Lancer.

So.....anyone get any stone chips yet? I;ve got a few now.....small ones....but I just got this nasty *** one on my hood that has exposed the metal...its about the size of an ant....gave me a heart attack...dont know what to do.....and im very pissed off and saddened at the same time...

I wash my baby as often as i can to get rid of all the bugs and **** that collect up on the highway..ive driven to orillia and just went to niagara falls...the chip is fresh...****ing trucks!! I HATE dump trucks on the highway....they are the cause of all this!! I keep my distance or even drive behind other cars which are in between me and the truck to try and save me from flying debris.....They need to be banned or have better built trucks that fully contain it's load!!!

I know what you're saying about the stone chips...I drive the 401 to work every day, and with all the damn construction going on, there's so much crap that kicks up off the road.

I ended up getting something similar to the 3M clear bra stuff, got it for the front of my hood, as well as the side mirrors. The brand I got isn't quite as thick as the 3M one, but it's also clearer, and is really hard to tell that it's there unless you go up close to it to look. Not sure how it'll affect the paint tho, since I have heard that the 3M one does result in some discoloration, since the sun's UV rays won't affect the covered part as much...have to wait and see on that I guess...but I'd rather have that than a ton of stone chips.

I hear ya man....****ing construction everywhere....its horrible out there....i was thinking about getting a hood deflector or the PVC stuff...but yah then again, i heard that stuff discolors and then over the years its gonna stand out.....dont know what to do...i gotta get that fixed cause its down to the sheet metal...i guess a lil blob of touch up is better than any rust forming when winter comes around and we both know how HOrrible the winters are here.

I was driving along some canyon roads to take photographs and scraped the bottom of the front bumper. It's pretty bad but not very noticeable from the front. Just a lot of paint scraped and exposes the material underneath. I've gotten over it...as long as everything works technically and mechanically, I'm happy. Aesthetics aren't as important. To make things worse, my camera batteries were dead.

yeah...well the stuff I got looks like it's thinner and clearer than the 3M stuff, so I'm hoping the fading won't be too noticeable. My friend has the 3M stuff, and it seems actually kinda yellowish, whereas mine looks to be completely clear. I guess I'd just rather have that than have to do touchups...

This is what my car looked like after I drove it from Cali to Baltimore- i LUCKED OUT - previous owner installed clear bra. Mine covers bumper, headlights, front of fenders and about 90% of the hood.

but seriously, how old is the car, how long has the clear bra been on there? wondering if you're noticing any sun/UV effects on it yet...

What color car is the 3M stuff on that it looks yellowish? My Azure Blue Coupe is getting the Clear Bra tomorrow, and now you have me very worried.

I guess cuz my friend's car is white, it's more noticeable...it's not actually yellow, just that the clear bra doesn't seem to be totally transparent, so it stands out a lot more...

hey guys! I finally found a 360degree flash of the Altima coupe. They have the interior and exterior. Go here: http://www2.westvalleynissan.c...uttonand then click "Photos, Colors and 360 Views"

I'm going to try and make that into my screen saver lol

Well that's it, I just converted the 360 exterior view into a screen saver lol! I made one with a really nice mp3 music playing in the background and the same without the background music if it's not your style.

Altima Coupe ScreenSaver [with sound]http://www.mediafire.com/?82j21xkxvbz

Altima Coupe ScreenSaver [without sound]http://www.mediafire.com/?1dnqjte4vo4

You can try them both to see which one you prefer and then just uninstall the other. It's easy to uninstall since I included an uninstall file. Just go to your PC's "Control Panel" and then to "Add or Remove Programs" you'll find it listed under the name "Altima Coupe" or "Altima Coupe no mp3".

P.S.: This screensaver has been tested on windows xp and not on vista, but it should still work

I joined just so I could say a big "THANK YOU" to all of you! I've been monitoring this forum since the beginning of June, and you guys kept me sane while I was waiting to find the perfect car at a local dealership.

I ended up with a 2.5 Super Black. The dealership had added a spoiler on it, which I was hesitant about after reading several posts, but ultimately, I decided I wouldn't let it put me off from buying the car, and after seeing it, I actually think it looks nice.

And I got the car for about $1100 less than sticker (which was MSRP + $450 for spoiler). All in all a pretty good deal, I thought.

Anyway...sorry for the rambling! Just so excited to finally have the car!

Thanks again! You guys are awesome!
