Any winners? Losers?

I don't see the Miata mentioned.
The Miata is a bit overrated, and deservingly so.

LOL, how many different models/makes driven do you consider "enough"?

I also agree with you about the Miata. Seems difficult to label one of the best selling small sports cars of all time "under-rated".

No, not necessarily, I'm asking you to compare a Supercharged V8 to another Supercharged V8 both made by GM. If I'm not mistaken the reliability track records for both motors are not radically different.

One is a sports coupe and the other is a luxury sedan. One is an OHV V8 with a completely different type of behavior from the DOHC V8.

They may as well have been built by entirely separate organizations, especially as Cadillac and Corvette operate semi-autonomously within GM (excluding Roger Smith's Buick/Olds/Cadillac quasi-merger decades ago).

Drive more cars.

"Drive more cars?" I like your Trump-like retort. I'm guessing your distracted by thoughts of Kelly Clarkson serenading you naked in a Cadillac..I'll ask again: why do you consider the northstar so special as compared to the supercharged V8 in the Corvette?? Yes, Einstein, they're different motors, which is why I'm asking WHY you feel the northstar is so great? And before you answer, I'm pointing out both engine average reliability records do not seem to differ much. But if you're determined to insert the host cars into the equation, fine. Corvette's tend to get driven harder on average than older more geriatric ownered, northstar V8 motored Cadillacs. So if their average reliability is not very different, and non-northstar's tend to get harder use, wouldn't logic suggest the non-northstar is as good If not better than the northstar?

Oh and you have long way to go to match the cars I've driven, young padwan. ;)

I guess I did. Sorry for the tangent. I disagreed with Jesda's assertion that the Northstar supercharged V8 (LS3?) is a "smoother, silkier" (better) motor than the new supercharged LT-4 in the new corvette. My feeling is the LT-4 would feel equally smooth (and probably better) if used in the same geriatric application like a Cadillac instead of a sports car, but evidently I haven't driven enough cars to make that assessment. ;)

There's things at play other than the engine itself, but I could completely see (and really expect) the northstar being more silky than the LS or LT (circa 2014+).
The LS and LT I'm sure have bigger cams, lopier idle, bigger valves, etc. In addition to that, stiffer engine mounts, subframe mounts, etc.

I think the application has more to do with the smoothness than the motor itself. I'm sure if you were to transplant an new LT4 into a comparatively soft sprung old fartmobile like an STS, using identical motor mounts, the supercharged LT4 would operate (or feel) equally as smooth as the LS3. Having driven a few new Supercharged V8's recently (LT4 Vette + Hellcat), you'd be shocked how smooth and docile those motors are in ordinary use. They ain't like the old days. Of course they're different animals on track, but that's a different story.
