Thanks guys! I dont have a lot of plans besides driving it daily as much as I can this summer and fall. I will probably give autocross a try and hit up the drag strip. I would love to eventually try a track day... I dont really see any drifting in my future though at this point.

Unfortunately, my subframe bushings do not fit they are too small and fall out of the subframe. I guess when people say that they fit s14 and s13, that might not be true. I am ordering some SPL aluminum ones tonight, so hopefully it wont take long and we can get this party started!

Here are some pics from today- I got all of the other bushings pressed in and repainted the spindles, arms, and subframe. I also clear coated the hatch, just needs some wetsanding action. I also mocked up the front lip, just need to bolt the bumper on and mount it for real. It is coming along quickly and smoothly now!!

Painting shtuff...

Subframe:

Lip w/ duct tape mod:

Another brake pic:

Bushings pressed in and repainted, 5 lug:

More soon, tires will be here this week and the subframe bushings should be in within a week.

Looks great man, poly bushings FTW!

Yes you need to re-use the rear cover from your open diff. Also, I didn't read it, but if this is a J30 diff you might as well get the diff bushings that SPL sells while you order your subframe bushings. They make installation a lot easier since you don't have to find washers big enough to make sure your diff doesn't fall out while you are driving haha.

Glad you got to see it. Would have been better if they opened the Fing hood!!! you will like track days with that car. I think that after about 1 month you will want more power!!!!keep up the good work!

I believe what I have is the CDM VLSD, so hopefully I dont have to deal with this washer business. I am tired of running into problems, it needs to just all be together now!

Nice build thread!+1 on the Tomie TB. I got it and it is one sexy piece. But so others know you should do a write up on swappin in a greddy manifold.

I really wish there was a writeup already so I knew what the hell I am doing... haha. Oh well, hopedully I can figure it out! Ill look into the throttle body, I have a lot of research to do as far as what is required to install this bad boy.

I got almost all of the interior back in tonight, but I forgot my card for my camera. Ill try to get some shots tomorrow night!

EDIT: daaaaaang, $900 for a throttle body... don't think I'll be picking that one up, haha.

If you're going to do a TB, do the Q45 90 mm tb. other wise leave it alone. S13 tb is 60 mm vs the 58 mm tb found on the S14 SR's.

To install the manifold, purchase an S14 throttle pulley, part number is in the GReddy manual.

It's a straight forward install. I'd recommend a new IACV from FRsport with a new gasket for the IACV, TB, and intake manifold.

You have to swap over the vacuum fitting for the booster from your OEM manifold. They have a swivel fitting for the PCV valve connection. 3 plugs go on the bottom if you aren't going to use extra vacuum fittings.

2 vacuum fitting go towards the front. Large diameter vacuum fitting on the left, smaller vacuum fitting on the right. Smaller vacuum fitting feeds the FPR.

To mount the OEM fuel rail. you have to cut one of the tabs off, and trim another one of the tabs. Again explained in the pictures in the manual.

It's a pretty easy install. Also if you're removing the OEM manifold to put this is, replace the coolant hoses found under the manifold, this is the best time to do it.

BTW, all the holes on the manifold are 1/8 BSPT. The thread count is 28 vs the US standard 1/8 NPT with a thread count of 27. What that means is you can't use 1/8 NPT vacuum fitting on this manifold. They'll leak, you have to source 1/8 BSPT vacuum fittings, or retap to 1/4 NPT. Also all vacuum fitting, put either high temp thread sealant, or teflon tape on the threads to make sure you have a proper seal.

BSPT = British Standard Pipe Thread

It's the metric equivalent, you'll find it on most foreign cars. The Japanese actually call theirs PT. PT is the same thing as BSPT. Can you tell I spent time researching it?

I actually knew that believe it or not, it just sucks because you cant find it at local hardware stores and I have a set of NPT taps etc.

Thanks man! I wish I could do soooo much more, but I just don't have the time right now between working full time and getting ready for my wedding/moving to a new place in three months. The corbeau isn't bad for what I paid, but Id love to have a Recaro Pole Position in there at some point...

Thanks a lot for the info man, I really appreciate it. I haven't had the time to sit down with the manual yet- all I did was flip through it and realize it was all in Japanese (as all GReddy things are) I'm planning to get the subframe back on and get the car running, then go back to install the manifold and the new radiator/fans/hoses. Ill plan to pick up the other parts you mentioned- always good to do it right the first time IMO.
Stripes wrote:You've got a legit collection of parts man. Props. What kind of lug nuts are those? They are wicked clean looking. Also where did you find a xenon lip? ... you make me want to get so many parts now....
The lugs are Rays extended DuraNuts... same ones I had on my solara, I like to keep it simple. I got the lip brand new from a guy in Ohio... just happened to work out, local and a good deal. I was really stoked about it!

Most of the google results I saw said about $900, so that was all I was going from I think i will do some more research, but I'll probably stick with the stock TB. Just trying to get the car back on the road and enjoy it for the summer, then I'll work on it more again next winter. As for the lugs, I'm not all that into the rainbow thing... I like to keep it simple

SPL bushings ship today, so I am going to make sure I have them by the weekend. Then I can hopefully get it all reassembled and have the rear end back together by early next week. I got the interior almost all put back in last night, but forgot my memory card- I'll have pics up soon!

Interior is pretty much in, just need to wrap the glove box and door panels:

w00t for canadian seatbelt swaps... aside from needing a headliner. The battery box is not mounted yet, but I think it will stay in that general area. Subframe bushings arrive friday, should make good progress this weekend.

It's looking good man! Certainly come a long way since the first page. As for throttle body depending on how far you want to take it, I wouldn't bother, I've made big power with the stock S13 60mm in the past (even the stock plenum) although I too went to a GReddy unit. Good luck!

Yeah thanks man, I don't have big plans to dump a lot of money on the motor... it already feels plenty fast for me. Im sure a time will come where that changes, but I am content for now.

The interior looks better in person, the pics kind of make it look dirty and faded, and generally blown out... part of me still wants to rock it painted really nicely and gutted... maybe Ill do that later this summer and see how I like it.

More small progress...

Well I managed to get one of the stubborn subframe inserts off tonight. It twas a great victory after about 12 dremel cutting bits

Can't believe how corroded these were... would not budge for anything. The funny thing is the two rear bushings slid right off effortlessly.

The other side, which needs to come off next:

Going to get the other one removed friday, just in time for the subframe bushings to arrive. Should be a good weekend I hope!

Some progress pics from this weekend (before the blizzard):

(Not actually bolted up)

SPL Aluminum Subframe Bushings:

OMG Two wheels!!

Camber/Toe not set and not bolted up:

Also spray bombed and cleaned up the diff cover and VLSD. Realized I need a 5 bolt axle, so hunting that down right now. I ordered a new Diff gasket, some random screws I need, hardware to bolt the bumper on, and a new seal for the cowl/hood with clips. Also waiting on my tein spanner wrenches to adjust the coils, and all of the gaskets for the intake manifold install.

Hoping to make steady progress through the week. More pics soon!

**Note: I knocked my camera off of the hatch and the glass fell out of the lens. Somehow, it went back together and still works
