Looks good gord. Bet your glad you got all that body work out of the way. How much snow you get up there? And speaking of football so much for that over bet.

this thread is awesome, just read it all. I wonder how the Z is going to handle. I'd get an old one too but I'm always afraid of what would happen in the case of a crash. (since I like to autoX and track the car)

do you plan to put a cage in it?

A real quick update today.I made some more changes to the air dam...again, but I think it's good to go now. I also added nut plates to the brackets and fender where air dam attaches. No need for cleco's any more. Rattle can primer and flat black a few parts to protect them until we get around to painting.

Final prototype for the fairing. Form and function is simple.

And now to start on the aluminum. 2024T3 .032" easy work. Done in no time.

I need to get the bend done on a brake. I have access to a couple over at the airport. I can get that done this week.

I put everything back together, looks good flat black....hmmmmm

As much as I love this build I totally hate you. How did you find such a clean z man? Mine has some major rust to repair. I have decided that since I have already gotten so far into mine I will just be doing the repairs and call it saving a Z. Its not like its not repairable. Love the build, just spent way to long reading all 9 pages. Its 2:20 am and I am going to get off now.

It's too much work and no play. I'm off to Scottsdale this weekend so things will have to wait...again. I had hoped to get a few nights in this week but Cam's car blew the clutch slave cylinder. That was a major pain in the butt to bleed. Spent last night rolling around on the floor. Brake fluid mixed with salt and sand in your hair is not a lot of fun. Ended up borrowing a vacuum pump/bleeder setup and it worked like a charm .

I am looking for the fuel system and will have to get something ordered. I think the submersed pump setup would be a little cleaner than external. So many choices...

I agree with the orange, but more of a creamy orange than something metal flake like. Get some of the original orange, sorry can't remember the paint code. Flares should be flat black, tail light garnishes flat black, hood flat black, fender mirrors flat black, and the wheels flat black. That or just tint it all 5% and everything flat black.

I agree with that about flat black but, like the picture of the Porsche I posted, I think a Satin black would look awesome. The body would have to be perfect though.

Gord could paint this ride pea green and it would still be awesome!! My vote would be a darker silver metal flake with black flares. But again, whatever color he decides it is going to be a BEAUTY.

Did you already visit Scottsdale?

I was talking to Greg last week when we were working on his vert, and he said you'd be coming out.

Yes I did swing by for a couple of hours and say hi. I was overwhelmed by all the cool stuff and It was nice to visit. I had about a million questions about everything but just stood there with my mouth open. I promise to be better prepared the next time. The 240Z was my favorite and it looks like it will soon be on the road. I'm sure to get out there in the future and it would be cool if everybody could get together.

I went up to check out Summit racing today. I wanted to look at the fuel cells and was ready to purchase something. Ended up coming home empty handed. I really want to run a submerged pump setup and nothing out there is a perfect fit. I think I'm going to have to come up with something custom built.

I finally got the air dam finished up front. All I had to do was complete the aluminum piece that went between the fiberglass dam and the body. I turned out pretty good.I bent it on a brake and rattle canned it black.

Fitting it and drilling the holes.

I ended up using pan head screws and nuts with washers...

I think I might rivet some nut plates in so it can be removed easier.

Fuel tank is next.

Thinking about just putting the stock one back in for now.

You and Cam should at least come out for the meet. I can't spend the whole weekend this year, but I'm going to bring my wife and boys out there on Sat. for the day. I'm looking forward to it.

YesNot really sure if it would be better to build your shocks or buy. I think you can purchase a great set of coilovers for pretty cheep but don't know what the quality would be / if they would last.

I saved a few bucks doing it myself but did it for fun...I say go for it if you have the time and don't rush it.
