Yes. Looking around at different ones, not quite sure if I should have one piece or three piece. One piece looks cleaner. Leaning towards BRE type.

I spent yesterday putting an exhaust on Cam's 240SX. I Hate working on the floor under a wet car, dripping sand and salt, what a mess. Got it done
the car is looking badass now man. great work! and i have the isis dual n1 on my coupe as well. it will burn the underside of the bumper if you have poly exhaust hangers. but construction is awesome and i hate it when exhausts come with crappy gaskets. these gaskets are awesome. i have been running mine for 3 months now and everything is great. its pretty loud w/out the silencers, but it has a good deep bassy tone, no ricer rasp. although, the resonator that creates that awesome tone is huge and hung low. w/my slammed car it will catch speed bumps and driveway angles pretty viciously. but thats with 2 inches of frame clearance, that gives you roughly 1-1/2" of resonator clearance.

haha ... get your own thread...240SX over there>>>>>>

So I'm tinkin this is going to be a good week and I can build up a few layers of fiberglass on the front air dam....wrong.

The 240SX loses the alternator...not a good week.

Its just an alternator, it shouldn't take more than an hour, so quit making excuses and get to work on the Z, I want to see the finished product.

It wasn't too bad. Just busting my kid's chops a little. I really don't mind helping him on the 240SX.

Hey. Nice to see you keep working on the build! It's going great.

BTW, the thread says "2009 240Z Build"... guess you should update it with 2010 since it's not quite ready yet.

Then by all means bust away, as his father it is your duty to bust his chops as much as possible.

I was wondering about that. It doesn't really matter. Just a name right? It could be embarrasing if it's not done by 2011 though.

I sometimes get upset because I don't get to work on it. Wife says "it's not going any ware" she's pretty smart. The Z will be there in the morning... I talked to a few guys at the Good Guys car meet here in July. There were some truly awesome cars and walking around and talking with the owners was great motivation to build what I wanted, not what is popular. I also asked how much time they had invested in their cars. 5-8 years was about average. That was for show cars, but still, I could see that happening if you got crazy. Must keep my priorities. Family comes first.

Cam and Evan will be gone in a few years (they get luggage for graduation present). I'll be here for them. You never know when they might need a friend...even if it is just to change an alternator...

Wow this is really a great build. I stayed up for 2 and a half hours last night reading it. I kept hoping it would be done by the time I got to the last page. Do you go to any meets in ohio i am right down the road from you in cinci and would like to see the project sometime. Keep the updates going. Also what local shops do you use to order parts/your engine? most shops here are completely worthless.

Hey cm7

Your welcome to come up anytime. RB stuff came from Raw Brokerage and internet. Two turner shops up here that know anything are Mazda and Honda. Still looking for some RB love. There is a real great group of Z fanatics up here. http://www.zroc.org/ Big time crusers, which really sucks because I DON'T HAVE A Z! (that runs ) Soon haha.

Update.

It's like watching paint dry except it's fiberglass.I have the air dam ready and looking about right. Trying to get the corner of the ZG flares to sit in tight. I taped the fenders and I am filling in the space between the flares and the body. I takes several layers to do this, but I'll end up with perfect fitting flares. Sorry I don't have anything exciting to show. Like I said, It's like watching paint dry...

Having the cooler temps also makes things go a little slower.

Hey Gord,

If you need help with any RB related stuff, let me know. I've got some personal ownership experience, but more importantly, I'm pretty well connected with some experts. So I'm sure I can help you find some answers if you need. Hell, I'm still hoping to get a chance to get down to Columbus and check out the project first hand.

Raw brokerage? Ill have to remember that. When i ordered my S14 sr it took 6 months and the wiring i paid to have done was f ed up to the point where i ended up doing it all myself using the JDM and USDM FSMs and going component by component and ALOT of trial and error but happy to report she runs good now.

Eikon- Thank you SO much for those FSMs you posted on here. I couldnt have done my swap without them. Sorry to threadjack. Looking good Gordon.

Ricky with Raw Brokerage is fantastic! His name on NICO is Coolwhip. His business is mostly RB stuff, but I know he has some SR20 and general 240sx parts as well.

I can't take credit for the FSM's. You can thank AZHitman who owns NICO for hosting all those and the staff and membership of the site for collecting and saving all those resources. They really are invaluable aren't they?!!

They are and i wish more ppl knew about them. I promise this is my last post on this thread about FSMs and i will let Gord get back to what he does best but Eikon i did not find this on nico and it helped me so much I was wondering if you could post it where ppl could find it and be useful. I was able to do all my wiring using it and the FSMs on this site.

no worries on the thread jack. I used the FSM for Cam's 240Sx and my RB engine stuff. That is why I ended up on NICO. It's all right here.

A little update.

I finished up the forward corners of the flares. A lot of sanding done. They fit really well with the air dam and the corner of the fender. I drilled the holes for the screws. I'm going with 10-32 button head (same as the back) stainless steel. I stuck the wheels back on and dropped it on the ground to check everything over for clearance. all good

I started working on the front turn signals. I disassembled the old assemblies, cleaned everything up, and reassembled them with new lenses and gaskets. I will fab up the new supports for the turn signals next week. That's it for now.

You may have noticed things have slowed down...not my "cup of tea" but we are having fun...right? A bad day on this car, beats my best days at work. I would not trade this for anything...well, maybe a quick SR in a 510 but I would just be for a quick fix.

Havin a blast, no worries.

I finally got around to finishing off the turn signal brackets. I started out with making them out of poster board first. Lots of trial and error...

Then I made the brackets out of 22 gauge steel.

Cleco'd in place. Everything fit nice.

Now make one for the other side. It's all covered by the bumper, but now it fits. Originally, they stuck out too far forward. That was a big pain in the butt and I'm glad it's over.

I am starting on the forced air cooling part. Getting the air dam connected to the chassis is more than just a few supports.I started out with the poster board again.

Joey found a warm spot next to the heater and kept trying to get me to play with him and the tennis ball.

I was just about done for the day anyway...next step will be to make it out of metal.

That should just about do it. Time for a beer and some football.

Gord
