Post

so my lanc crew knew about the new project in the making so i finally brought her home today.

found it locally on CL, a 86 nissan 200sx hatch.

the CA20 is tired and worn, and its an auto tragic; but alas what better way to recycle my KA out of my 240 and make a fun little daily while i prep the 240 for a motor swap.

paid 400 cash for this beast and let me tell you, its mint.... bit of surface rust on some of the body panels, and on the rails but its not through at all.

this will be the start of my build; i have alot in mind but right now i am focusing on tearing out CA20 with the automatic; so its light enough to push around so i can then start prepping for paint, wire tuck, 5spd swap, etc etc.

ok enough rambling

pictuars!!!!

rad 80s interior ftw

dirty bay w the poor excuse of an engine.

i couldnt contain myself and started tearin into it.

GET EXCITE more to come tmw

Looks like so much fun to learn about!

Requesting pic of the tails.

Super mint. I really don't think it's ugly. Front bumper is spiffy. It just needs wheels and coils.

Good start to the build man. I'll have to come by and exchange some parts and help u with it one of these days.

Good to hear you're going with a det for your 240sx now. I never thought you'd cave in. Rly nice s12 man keep it non smashed, diamond in the rough.

awesome man, an s12 is on my "to do" list along with a bunch of other cars that hopefully will be fulfilled one day. sounds like an interesting start so far. keep us updated and don't end up parting it out like the s30! haha jk

haha well this one is not rotted to hell like my poor s30 was.

it is actually quite baffling to me that there is no rot. even under the fenders it is flawless.

i got alot more out of the car today, almost ready to yank the motor (just gotta disconnect the DS and drain the trans fluid, trans and motor mounts and heater core hoses

didnt get any pictures tho.

i had to move the car over so i can pull the s13 in the garage as well for the 4th of july festivities.

pictures of my progress tmw are most definately on the list

ooo and if a mod wants to fix the title to hachi as i was called out on that im cool with it.

and if you think it should go to gen chat whatever

i was soo happy when you decided to go ahead and pick this up. can't wait to have a little free time to help tear into it. and tom as far as coils and wheels for the s12, the only coils i've seen so far offered are megans. i don't think too many companies focused on making coils for unpopular cars

i want to say i read somewhere that s13 suspension pieces can be used on the s12 but don't quote me on it. just something to look into.

this is true but you have to use s13 front and rear subframes as well iirc. not hard, but if he wants to go that route josh will just have to hunt some down

hummmm front definately swaps right out; minus the struts you need any coilover to fit inside the strut towers. but you can swap knuckles, tie rods, driveshafts etc.

this might be a while down the road for me

got it prepped to yank the motor out weds (next day off)

still gotta get the pesky driveshaft out, although i might just start yanking it and let it slide out of the trans (its barely connected currently with the trans mount and carrier bearing sagging) ;i only stopped because i needed a chain to wrap around the block.

ill shoot up more pictures tonight; the camera is in the car and i might be goin out tonight w some friends but ill update when i get back

soooooo update time.

woke up later than i wanted (around 9, i know i never sleep)

s13 next to the s12

both sides under the fenders are flawless by the door (this spot can be a nightmare on alot of older imports

pulled the A/C, emissions crap, EFI harness, and the radiator. disconnected the 5mph bumper and the headlight housings

the body harness is pretty much out of the bay lol.

pretty much ready to pull out

im beginning to think this car was wrecked at some point... the upper rad looks replaced.

no worries; with some paint/love it will look clean

look for more wednesday

little osphyo and some paint and your rust issues should be solved.

so want an S12, but its sad to see the CA20 dumped like a bad habit.

ps what are the specs on those wheels. they are hot.

im guessing you mean on the s13? enkei 92s 15-7 with a 0 offset.

wish i would've saved up for some formula mesh but they are nice, need a slight roll in the front and im set.

and some lower profile tires.

but i got them for a good price so meh

thanks for the props gabby; i thought about working out the CA20 but with the auto trans it wouldn't be fun at all.. plus my s13 only had an older lady for the previous owner so it wasnt abused. its got plenty of life left in it.

Ya jeff I was talking about s13 coils being modified. I'm sure PBM can help you with the rear ones with something fun.

I wasn't hating on the 86 at all RB, just was saying that noobs on the street will be like o hai 86? Hehe. I'm a fan as well though, would love to own one under one condition, s13 rear susp swap.

Good start man. My engine hoists 4th swap I'm so proud lol...

Gabby I hope you don't mean the oem s12 wheels as well.
