My tailgate has no indent. Post picks after you install. Here's mine. Note the spare rod placement since I have cubbies on the floor. I also relocated the jack and tools under the drivers seat.

And I added mirrored and lighted visors, front map light and a second rear light over the weekend.

I had also installed a solid grab handle on either side.
But decided to change to a softer, flexible unit.
And grab bars on the A pillars.

Do you have a pic of your tailgate? Also, I don't think my truck is drilled for the rear speaker mounts. The brackets don't fit not matter which way I fit them. Also there are no upper screw holes the hold the brackets in place.I did hang the carpet tonight though. The finisher trim is metal to my surprise and needs to be primed and painted due to surface rust on it.
I didn't install it because of that.

Goes to show on what end I've been paying the most attention to. I do have the indent.
Here's a pic showing where the speaker mounts go.
And how they look in place.
I believe all the metal trim panels need repainted.

I just checked and my rear wall looks different. No upper mounting holes even though it has both lower holes. Odd. I painted the upper carpet trim piece flat black. Came out nice. Just waiting for the paint to dry.

No, but he did buy 4 cars. On another note, I may be getting another Hardbody. Not that I don't like mine, but I have a chance to get a King Cab. It's a 1986 SE with 3.0 and AT.

Going to take a second look at a 90 Ford Ranger. Bad motor and trans but appears rust free. I have 6 Taurus SHO's and plenty o parts. So I'll be installing the motor and a T5 trans for rear wheel drive. Ford made one back in 1990 that I'll be using as a guide. I'll need this truck for my detailing business I'm hoping to start soon. I don't know if I'll be keeping my Nissan if I go that route.

Here she is in all her glory. The important part is it has 95k miles and is rust free. And my friend is buying back the Nissan when it's finished.

SHO motor in a Ranger should be a LOT of fun. I'm definitely not a fan of the lower plastic trim on the white truck, though.

Installed a gage cluster with tach. Went from this
 To this.
I wired the passenger side door switch that was originally not there. Installed a better rear lamp and wired the lited visors and map lites. I added a brace in the rear of the roof for the light mount. I'll probablly add the king cab hinged light that drops down to illuminate the bed. And I installed sound deadening to the roof. I also got the power locks working.

Now my friend says he doesn't want to buy the truck back. Says he needs somrthing bigger. I brought the Ranger home last Tuesday. I'll be replacing the timing chain. And adding power steering, a larger radiator and AC hopefully next week.

wow, i was glad to find this thread. lots of good ideas for me. i just bought a 2wd 1995 nissan with a ka24. it has 170k, but the motor runs great! it needs some attention, paint, body work, new front bumper. i also snagged some fender flares, window visors from the junk yard. flares ran me $40 and the visors were free. im gonna get a black bumper/grill to replace the rusted chrome bumper. i think the black will look tougher with the green paint. im gonna use a spray-on tint on the brake lights to "smoke" them. i like alot of what you guys have done on the interior. i would like to go with bucket seats, but ill have to stick with the bench since my wife and kid will have to go places with me some times. i would love to do a performance exhaust, but have a feeling i wont find something like that on ebay. please keep posting pics of your projects, it helps us all. and its great to see others restoring/improving these great little trucks

Glad it helped. I haven't driven it for a week because it needs a timing belt. I expect to 'git er dun' next week. I prefer the black instead of the chrome as well. Thanks for the encouragement. I need to finish it so I can sell it.

Pathfinder seats are a bolt in. And I have a set of gray ones from a 94 I need to get rid of. The bed was from a std cab 2wd as far as I know. I don't believe it protrudes more than normal. Maybe the flairs make it appear so. The SHO's are fun, I'll always have several around.

Get those pics posted. I spent the last three days at a freinds shop. I installed a new timing chain and guides. The chain and sprockets were fine as well as the tensioner. However, the tensioner guide was a bit worn. And the other guide was found as broken bits in the oil pan. Sorry no pics as I was pressed for time and really greasy. I then installed my PS system but found I need the box to column coupler. The person I bought the system from failed to include it. So back on with the manual box. Then I found I needed a starter when I tried to leave. All in all though it went well. And since the radiator needed to come out, I installed the larger one for AC cars.

thats my window latch (impossible to find)
this is idk? a vent? i want to put infinity 4x6 speekers there. do you know what its for? over sized rearview for safly cutting people off haha i dont want to but here in california they make me do it

i went to the disman place on saturday and really scored.

i got the back carpet and bezzle piece and side mirrors switch(not pictured) even thoe i dont have power mirrors there was a hole there so i bought it to fill the hole. headliner maplight and braket. visores, windshield side moldings with tweeters(clarion) i scored again there cuz they didnt know the stock tweeters where replaced. steering wheel(mine is disentagrating) emblem they gave me for free that is getting painted everything for $226.00 heres the donor
everything cept the carpet came out of this. they said they never seen anyone thake the headliner from the pathy but it comes out in two pecies. think i will have to cut it?? or make some kind of molding. fenders and bumper where gonna b next but i had to jump on thoes interior peices they had just got that pathy in and i wanted first dibs haha you still working on urs? or are you on to a new project?

Nothing like getting what you need. The Pathfinder headliner fits but you will need to fab a trim piece at the rear. I am using a headliner from a 94-95 Hardbody as it's molded for the rear. I installed the remaining parts for the power steering today. I had to make a trip to get the intermediate shaft for the steering. It came from the Pathfinder I stripped. I also installed the Pathfinder tilt column. Now I have power steering and tilt. In order to use my current steering wheel, I'll need to swap more items on the end of the column. Mainly the round contact unit for the horn. I'll get pics soon.

nice i like pics. did you have to change the rack out for your steering or is that a pretty easy mod? my truck is the base model too. i was raised in AZ but i live in Ca so the no AC dosent really bother me i like the MPG too all thoe i do miss the PS somtimes but have goten used to it. have you ever had your tuck dynoed? i wounder how much more power you get w/o PS AC? my truck has 192XXX mi and i ve changed the valve cover seal but didnt know of the time chain probs at that time. when you changed yours did your motor sound diffrent?

For the PS you'll need the reservour, pump with mounts, steering box with pitman arm, 3 lines and the fan belt. The crank pully has 3 sections for alt, PS and AC. You may also need the steering column and or the intermediate shaft. Nissan says the 2.4 is good for 134 hp and 154 tq. Since the timing chain was replaced there is no rattle at start up. The missing guide allowed slack in the chain, thus the rattle. I had to replace the contact housing on the wheel side of the column. This allowed me to retain my early style wheel.
And the column cover needs to be modified for the tilt lever. I'm using a 94 Pathfinder column and the cover and wheel are a different style. The tilt cover I thought would fit doesn't. The ignition switch is in a different location. My original cover is on the right, the tilt unit on the left.

Mine came from a .... well I don't remember. My color is taupe and was available from 1986 thru 1992, to the best of my knowledge. I do have a set of gray door panels I need to sell as well as the seats. I got parts from many Pathfinders and Hardbodys. I'm at the point where I'm almost done and will need to get rid of my overstock.None of the wiring is easy or plug and play. I had to tap off a hot curcuit on the fuse panel, and add terminals in the fuse panel. If you attempt this, use a donor of the same year as your truck. I ran into unusual differences you'd never imagine. The locks are the same way, you need to tap off the fuse box for an always on circuit. And be sure you get the module located under the drivers seat (trucks) or in the rear (Pathfinder).
