ok i bought my blacktop today from JDM engine depot..i called yesterday n the day before to see if he had any available he said he had one. So i gave him my name and number to keep in contact. I called this mornin he knew who i was so i told him i would be on my way. After renting a u-haul $20 for the day and $1 a mile me n my friend get there 2hrs later..When i got go the shop he knew it was me..it was a clean spot, he pulled out the only blacktop he had..it was cleaner than i execpted. they compression tested it for me..im not sure what each cylinder is suppose to read but it said 240+ on all cylinders..i thought it was suppose to be around 160? somebody has to school me on that so answers please? anyway it looked pretty decent ill have pics soon..its dark right now so ill take some tom morning..but the bad thing is they didnt have an igniter for me, and the shifter was missing n they also gave me a red top wiring harness..any one kno the difference between the redtop and blacktop harness? I called and told them they told me i could come get one tom. or i could ship the one i got back..and they'll send me the one i need..but enough talkin..it was a nice place execpt those thing..but they sound like there gonna help me out..

240psi for compression?? I dont even know if thats good or bad. Seems like a faulty compression tester. Looks pretty clean though. Make sure to take off the valve cover and inspect the cams, make sure theirs no obvious marks or things that shouldn't be there. Turbo looks pretty clean as well, make sure you inspect it as well for shaft play.

As long as the plugs are the same, I believe all that matters is the ECU's, make sure they match up. Don't quote me on that though lol. Ignitors no biggie.

When you compression test it doesn't the car have to be cranked? How did they do it?

he took a jumper pack..hooked it up to the start wire and grounded it..did something n turned it over..

yea the 240 thing was crazy i was like whaaat? that cant be right.. idk but i didnt even take it off the pallet yet its still in the u-haul..im going to work on it tom morning bc i had to bring the u-haul back by 1035am anyway. The motor looks super clean..ill be sure to inspect the cams..and stuff tom. Im not goin to drop it in for a week or 2 bc im goin to replace gaskets, seals, the waterpump, thermostat, belts, that ugly orange fram filter, plugs, etc you guys already kno I checked the turbo a lil bit but im actually goin to check it tom it looks pretty clean tho n as for the ecu i have an e5 will that work with the red top wire harness?..but ill kept you updated..n ill take more pics tom these were jus quick ones in the van.

Congradulations! Your motor looks pretty good. Time to get your hands dirty and really start checking it out. Good luck and keep us updated. What condition is your harness and ECU in?

the harness is ok a few loose wires that need to be soldered together securely..but like i said its a redtop harness..do you kno if theres a differences from the blacktop..i have an e5 ecu and it plugs in..but im tryin to make sure its not different from a blacktop harness or im going to send it back n get the blacktop harness.

Q45 does work, it has to be a 96 and up, but you could also use earlier ones. I have one extra that I'm trying to sell, you just have to splice it. Its really easy, theres a guide on heavythrottle. But you need the pig tails

Damn, I wish you posted about JDM Engine Depot, or even read my review on them in the SR FAQ section!

I HATED their service. I ended buying from them because I was in a last minute pinch and there were so many problems.

They played so many games with me and it costed me so much money.

THAT'S WHY I SUGGESTED JHOT!!!

thats y i bought from them i called heavythrottle, jhot, zerolift, totaljdm, and they were all out..and when jdm engine depot said they had one that was my only choice. They gave me ok service..they were d*ckheads when it came to the price tho..they were very firm and wouldnt budget.

Ignitor chip part numbers22020-50F00 is the sr ignitor (JDM)22020-50F01 and 22020-50F10 are the USDM replacements, they don't require splicing. Hope that helps.

I do have to admit though. The engine does look clean though.

I spoke to an inside connection that knew the guys there and the things they would do to the engines before selling them was so crazy. They would play so many games...

Hopefully nothing goes wrong with that engine, becuase there is no way they'll help you now. Once it's off their lot, the warranty is meaningless, especially since you're doing the work yourself.

yea i kno what you mean..hopefully it all goes well..by the looks of the engine im hoping it runs well..heres some more work i did..

first i accidentally cut myselff with a razor..i had to go to the hospital..it was so deep i thought it wasnt going to stop bleeding. they glue it together? i didnt kno they could glue yer cuts together nowadays lol. but i got out quick n wen i got back home my friend who always works on cars with me was here..we got the motor onto a motor stand and we tore down the exhaust side of the motor (with a razor sliced glued finger i must add)..transmission..rusty clutch n flywheel..no life left on the clutchi have a act stage 2 for that..heres pics of the turbo..we had to stop there bc he had to go to work..and plus i need to order my gaskets so i can get this show on the road..after the exhaust side where goin to tear down the intake side..im tryin to do one at a time since this is my first swap and im not a pro like some of you guys if theres anything i should do or am doing wrong feel free to enlighten me..but what can i use to clean my exhaust ports, and turbo..and is it ok to use carbon cleaner for my intake and throttle body?

I'd suggest either replacing your IACV gaskets or getting a new one and replacing it while the motors out, it'll make like soooo much easier. And definitly replace as much now while the engines out instead of just getting into a big rush to drop it in. It'll save you more time imo in the end. But looks really clean. Not many SR's that come like this often, now from what I've seen.

yea i am goin to replace the intake mani, intake collect, throttle body gasket, and clean the iacv anyway..i jus broke the exhaust side down first..but im goin to order up all the gaskets do the exhaust side..and then do the intake side..i chose to do one side at a time bc this is my first swap. Im not in a rush to swap..i plan to have it in in about 2-3 weeks..hopefully. i also have a fidanza flywheel to replace the old rusted one.. and a bunch of other goodies..greddy fmic, greddy prof spec b boostcontroller, high pressure fuel pump, nismo motor & transmission mounts plus some others i missed..but i can clean the throttle body, intake collector, and intake with carbon cleaner right?

Yea, that should be fine. I heard the prof spec b boost controller actually has some issues like boost spike, I dunno though, never owned one lol, its just from what I've heard. Food for though lol. If you want also, go ahead and replace the valve cover gasket, I remember when I did my swap it ended up leaking a little bit of oil from the gasket. I also had oil seeping through the spark plug hole. I replaced them all and problem solved. Keep us updated though, with tons oh pics

Whoa on that finger dude, don't cut it off they don't grow back! LOL! Just kidding! You engine does look clean so hopefully no problems when the time comes for the startup. As far as the cleaning the throttlebody and intake, I used carbon cleaner like everyone suggested and that did just fine. You'll be amazed at the amount of carbon buildup that comes out of that thing. Oh and you might as well go ahead and put those RAS's on since you have the valve cover off. Pics to follow yes!?

word..thanks for the info. I wasnt goint to put the ras on at first bc i didnt have an engine stand and the motor was leaning, but my friend came threw with his engine stand and im using that..so on they go. i jus have to order up these gaskets seals and the waterpump thats the only thing holdin me back.
