Heythanks for the suggestion, obvious, but welcome. I already found a local guy with a 240 parts car thats gonna sell me his fender along with a few other things, including a $300 DE motor that runs.

Also found out why I was hitting 8.5K rpms.... Im really not. The tach shows it but I shift from 2nd to 3rd when Im doing 55-60mph, which is right around 6.3-6.5K rpms if im not mistaken. I knew my speedometer was crapping out, but now Im just assuming my whole instrument cluster is f'd. Gives me a reason to buy a digital instrument cluster!

 « Re: (livinglegend2100)

Yesterday I changed my oil. Finally! I knew it needed changed ever since I bought the car (1 month ago) The oil was almost pitch black, but it did have a hint of brown.

I bought some Gunk engine flush...

Followed the directions aka; add to crankcase, lets engine idle for 5 minutes, drain oil, and replace oil filter and add fresh oil. Did that. From previous posts (if you even read them ) you would know that my motor has been making the infamous "rattle can" timing chain sound. Well after running Gunk Motor Flush, I would venture to say that the noise was reduced by 30%. That put a big on my face!

Well, my motor has been burning a bunch of oil as well. So I decided to pick up No-Smoke at wal-mart and added that in when I was changing my oil. This stuff claims to have "sealing" additives to re-seal valve seals and fill in gaps between the pistons and the cylinder walls. Well I must say, this is the first time I had used this product, and I am impressed thus far.

I ended up driving about 15 miles from my old apartment, where I changed my oil, to my new place. By the time I arrived there, I did not notice any oil burn-off! Not bad for $3! I ALSO noticed that there was NO MORE rattle can noise coming from the motor! I think my lifters are making a slight ticking sound, but hardly noticable. Its nice to have a nice, quiet motor finally!

So GUNK, in combination with No-Smoke, helped my motor out tremendously. I read not to long ago, probably a week ago, in a thread about timing chain guides suggesting to remove the front cover and check the tension of the chains. If the tensioner wouldn't compress, someone suggested using break cleaner to break up any carbon and/or gum inside the tensioner. Well, I WAS going to do that until I used GUNK. I would suggest to anyone with the same problem I had to use GUNK before they go tearing into there motor. I mean, if you are going to change your oil anyways, you might as well try this method first.

Did I just do a review on a product? Custom title maybe?

Well that's all for now!

First some pictures then a question for you guys:

Now for the question:

I've got a question as far as my rebuild goes. Should I just fess up the $1700 for the AMSperformance advance rebuild kit, or should I piece together the rebuild? IDK, just a quick glance it might be cheaper to just piece it together. Does anyone have any experience with the gasket sets/timing chain kits listed on ebay? IDK, what do YOU guys recommend?

So what do you guys think about my rebuild question? Should i just buy the kit from AMS?

I find the AMS kit to be well worth it. As far as eBay goes, I buy nothing for engine internals from eBay. Good build thus far.

Fail. You wouldn't buy Manley Turbo tuff rods from ebay just because they are on ebay? Everytime someone says that I mark them with an autofail. Unless they are no name internals buying things from ebay is perfectly fine.

Exactly

I don't know how people do it, but they can sell the same product for $25-75 (sometimes more) cheaper than anywhere else on ebay. So I mean if I can go through and piece together the rebuild for $1200 and it be just as good if not better than AMS's $1700 kit, then I'm all for it. I just don't want to forget anything, the AMS kit is guaranteed to have everything I could possibly need for my rebuild. But for ~$500 less, I think I should just piece the parts together, weather I get it from ebay or any other place for a good deal!

Thanks man! I used a spray paint called : "Ocean Blue Metallic" its a $10 can. You can get it at an Auto Parts store.

OK, took off the front door panel and found some Infinity speakers installed. I know they are not the best, but its damn better than stockers!

Only in the fronts though... 4x6 Pioneers in the rear...

very nice speakers. i need to figure out my set up that i am going to do. i think i am going to do the 3x6 in the doors and 6x9s behind the seats.. in some custom speaker mounts. that should be more then enough to satisfy my need for a stero in my 240. now my accord is a different story.

I think I'm going to follow the template from the NICO audio section and install some 6 1/2's in the front (idk what brand yet, but they need to handle bass pretty descently) and move the Infinity's to the rear.

Time for an UPDATE!!!

First off, got paid yesterday (Thursday) and immediately bought a CD player. I bought the Pioneer DEH-P3000IB

So far I really enjoy this player. I have come to realize that the 4x6 speakers just wont do for what I need, unless I buy a sub and amp, etc. But I can't biitch too much, at least I can listen to music while I drive now!

Secondly, I bought a 2.5" exhaust flange and a catback exhaust. I will stop by the auto parts store tomorrow after I get off work to pick up a 3" ID to 3" OD adapter. I will cut into one side of the adapter/reducer so that I can bent it to accomidate my 2.5" universal catalytic converter I posted about previously. I have to "make" my own 2.5" reducer because I'm not going to pay +$10 for one 4" long piece of metal, sorry just not going to happen.

As far as the catback goes, well I went the ebay route. I bought the setup from EBstores. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW
Wow that's quite long... so here is just a picture of what it SHOULD look like:

White90esex also bought this and has actual pictures on his thread: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/330580

So now I just wait for everything to arrive, which will hopefully be before next saturday.

Third update is I removed the cloth from the doors. The cloth was old, nasty, and ugly. So I removed it and I think it looks loads better.

Fourth and final thing on the list is my headliner is getting a makeover. By tonight (Friday), it will be black and beautiful!

I will post pictures of the Deck, side panels, and headliner later on this evening after everything is done and the car is cleaned out. So until this evening, have fun reading and PEACE!

Edit: BTW, the ebay listing for the catback was asking around $98 OBO, I submitted $70 and it took right away... So if someone is looking to get this exhaust, find the OBO listing and offer even lower! Just a heads up

Since i don't feel like editing my last post, and I feel like whoring im just going to double post.

Anyways, I had and issue with my cat and my soon to be catback connecting. My cat is only 2.5" and the catback is 3" so I needed a 3" reducer. Couldn't find one at the local part stores, so I turned to the interwebz... The cheapest one I found was $18... F that! Any other reducer at AutoZone or O'Reily's is only $2.99 so I decided to buy a 3" to 3" reducer. Im going to make a few slits in one end and bend it to match the 2.5" cat. Problem solved

For the roof liner, hell any interior pieces, I just use "Dupli-Color Vinyl Spray: Flat Black" Thats the only thing that touches my interior from now on. I've tried Krylon Fusion with little success. Sh*t just chips and cracks. Havn't run into any problems with the Dupli-Color stuff.

My catback is on its way. EBStores sent me the tracking number yesterday and it is expected to be at my doorstep FRIDAY! YES! I can't wait. Well if anything else happens before Friday, I shall let you guys know!
