I just bought this 1997 240sx SE. I thought this was a steal at $5500. It has 112,xxx miles on it, and it was a one owner car. This is my first 240, and already i am in love with it.

Someone even threw a SE badge on it too. Well, it's still very clean. I need a S14 kouki too.

it might have been a SE from birth but stripped of its 5 lugs skirts etc. but nah i doubt it b/c those are the wheels that came w/ the base and to find those it'll be a hassel and i doubt some1 would swap out the 5 lugs and skirts so yea some1 prob. jes threw the badge on it.

i say you take off both 240sx and the se badge, mine never came w/ the 240 badge and i'm glad it didnt. looks cleaner.

well, just so you know, i bought the car for the way the car is and looks, i didn't buy the car for whether or not it was an SE, i just wanted to know who thought that it would look better with or without the emblem, so back off my case.

Nice car.... the thing for most @ss clown sellers is to throw an SE badge on the car so they can mark up the car for another $1000 or so.

Yeah that is what I noticed about our cars as well. People out there would advertise base models as SEs and most all people not knowledgeable in the 240s would fall for it every time. I always thought that they imported way more ses then bases but now I do not know. I have seen as many bases as I do ses.

To have the SE stuff, you need:

5 lugsside skirtsstupid wingsway bars

... I think thats it. The SE package is nice to have if you want the car to stay stock, otherwise the difference in starting points wont make a big deal in the long run of big mods.

Throw on that 5spd, and probably an VLSD if you can as well. It will help a whole lot in your enjoyment of the car.

The other mod I highly recommend is removing the silencer on the stock air box. Makes the car sound better, and you can hear your throttle position which is nice.

I take it from the sticker on the car you got it from a dealer. So you may have a few options depending on the answer to these questions.

1. How much did you put down if financed?

2. On any of the documentation the dealer gave you did he advertise it as an SE?

Unfortunately most time when buying a car you sign a dealer liability waiver stating that they can basically lie to you verbally about the car. That it is up to you to verify everything through paperwork, inspection, test drive. However if you have an advertisement or documentation stating that he was lying Dealer gets

If you paid a good amount down on the car or hell , paid it off outright you have a little more power. Dealers HATE giving back money and would probably bargain with you.

However that is a very clean 97

You forgot...

White Face GaugesFront Chin SpoilerSun Roof Leather (option)Keyless entryFoglightsIntermittent wipers (I hate not having this function)

Now most of these options were mix and match on ordered cars but SHOULD have been standard on all SE models.

And it's rear sway bar not both, front one is standard, the rear is an option but was standard on SE and LE models.

Hmmm my 95 S14 is registered as 240sx SE too(even says so on pinkslip). But its the base model though and though. I wonder what's up with that.

Take a look at your title, under "Model" it probably says like 24 or 240 for a base model. An SE says 2/S. Always Always look at the title before you buy. But ya, shave the emblem and welcome to NICO.
