I'm about to do 5-speed swap and still debating this. Can you guys share any experience with driveshafts from driveshaftshop.com or shaftmasters.com? Should I get it or not? Totally worth the money or don't bother with it? If I want to get one, which one should I buy? Money is not an issue. I want good quality. Please help...

Cool. I'm sure you've been searching too, but I didn't get any soild answer. I want to see if there's anyone with bad experience. If I see some, I wouldn't get it.

I have a custom 1pc aluminum shaft, it's held up through a year of clutch kicking, launches, burn outs, and other misc things.

Sorry for the thread jack but how was the installation with the one piece driveshaft also? Did you need to undo the cross member? I'd imagine it being a one that you'd have to have the transmission hanging at an angle.

Awsome!!! Thanks for the input!! Good to see there's no complaint about vibration and noise. I think 1 piece aluminum is a way to go then.My next question is which one's better? Shaft master or Driveshaft shop?

you don't need to remove the crossmember, it just slides in and out

I had both drive shaft company, shaftmaster is the better bang for a buck

Take into consideration, if u have a open diff with no abs but u plan on upgrading the LSD to a kazz or cusco or something then get the non abs driveshaft anytime u want. But if u r going to swap a vlsd pumpkin which has abs sensor on it then save up for an abs driveshaft and the pumpkin at the sametime cuz u need them both.

Quote »I had both drive shaft company, shaftmaster is the better bang for a buck[/quote]Thanks you!!! I did some more research and I'd like to buy one with Nissan OEM u-joints. I'll keep in mind that shaftmaster is the better bang for a buck.

uh yea, the u joint rubs the dust boot when it was in. so i had to remove it, and cut it for it to stop rubbing. idk, maybe it was just mine.

happy valentines day.

I listened to this guy and AZHitman.

I called both places and both of them they were nice. Like you said shaftermaster is $100 cheaper, so I went with them. David from shaftmaster said he's sold over 100 of them with no problems. He also said if it vibrates or makes noise due to defect, he will replace it. DDS also said the same thing.

I don't know how true this is but I've heard the aluminum one can dent from rocks and debris? And what could the possible advantages be on a steel shaft?

Shaftmasters shaft is extremely light. 11 lbs. doesn't sound too far off. It is significantly lighter than stock.

Stock shaft is heavy. Besides, it has this rubber bushing on the transmission side just like steering shaft bushing. I think this is supposed to absorb impact to give you smooth acceleration. According to FSM, you are not supposed to disassemble this piece. If rubber goes bad, you are supposed to replace front half.

One question. Should I use bearing bracket(? in the pic) with aluminum driveshaft just in case? I'm talking about just the bracket. I wonder it will fit there.
