Seeing as this type of thread is pretty fun and successful in other vehicle subforums and other vehicle forums in general, I think we need one of these!

Today I replaced my rear shocks with KYB Gas-A-Just shocks, and cleaned the rear drum brakes. I still need to lube and adjust the brakes soon.

Yum, brake dust!

Image

The ride is stiffer, yet smoother with the new shocks. The old OEM shocks didn't even uncompress by themselves, but that is almost expected after 133k miles of use.

What did you do to your Pathfinder or QX4 today? :)

this was last week...
cleaned it up with this new soap "ICE car wash"

http://www.turtlewax.com/detail-ICE%20C ... -9-87.aspx

and used some meguiars ult compound on just the hood...didnt need it apparently as I already performed a liq claybar by turtlewax on it...just a test

finished it up with some wax as you dry by EAGLE and I am very amazed by the soap wax as it REALLY did finish up with a shine even after a week of random rain storms ....that soap also shined up my 01 accord pretty good...

Took the plasti-dip off my wheels. They were simply too hard to keep clean and were starting to look a little old. Made the rims look too small. I love the look of these stockers.

After my rear left speaker went out, I tested my amp, speaker, and headunit and concluded that my rca cables need to be replaced... So the new cables should be coming in tomorrow.

Yesterday, I did the same as you, Towncivillian. Installed gas a just shocks in the rear and cleaned, repainted my drums. That's a good description of the ride.. stiff yet smooth.

Next thing I need to do is finally drain/fill my transfer case. I'll do that sometime in the next week, at the same time I change my engine oil.

Haha i've actually been thinking about that for a while. I am still a bit weary about the clear corners. I personally love the amber color...strange I know haha

They arent that expensive to who knows...I might just pick a set up.

P.S I noticed this black 04 Platinum Pathfinder just sitting in my neighbors driveway. Been there for a few months now untouched. Next time I see him/her out I might ask if theyd be willing to part with it. Always wanted an 04 LE let alone a Platinum.

The 03 and 04 pathfinders, i remember seeing a button i think VCS or VSC or something, did they come with a stability system? Or was it just traction control.

Yes, according to the 03 & 04 owner's manuals, vehicle dynamic control is an option.

It was VDC ( Vehicle Dynamic Control)

A quick google search says it was stability control

It was an option in '03 and '04 IIRC

Off topic, but why do many vehicle owners leave the power mirror adjuster knob set to one side? Doesn't that waste power by keeping the relay, etc energized? Sure, it's a small amount, but still...

Damn it, i would really love to see how it would correct when my rear drifts out in the middle of intersections in the rain at like 2k rpm.

Wide tires, hard suspension, airlift1000 giving it a dragster lean even less weight in the rear, and open differential makes me use 4wd when i need to pull out in the rain from spots LOL.

They don't look right with clear corners... just my opinion.

Also the VDC does its job well...makes you more agressive though. :shifter:

The pathfinder we were looking at before this one was an '03 with VDC. Meh, guess it could of helped out when my dad lost control on black ice in the middle of an intersection and creamed into a curb lol

@ Miami

I thought SE's came with LSD's stock rather than an open dif ?

@ Zach

Just wondering, why do you have so many Pathfinders of the same generation?

I don't think anything is energized until you actually adjust the mirror; it should just be a selector switch. I have a completely different button in my '96 though.

Im just going to find one this summer or by the end of the year from insurance total losses or something for dirt cheap that has a lsd, bring it home, and have a parts car or part it out, swap out the diff in mine, and then once i dont have anything else to take off it, scrap it for money.

:rotfl Ya its not energized until you tun the key and i would pull it out before leaving it lopsided like that.

LSD is more controllable in a drift then an open differential.

I dont think my '02 LE has a LSD. Seems like one wheel loves to break traction.

Just a warning don't get your windshield relapsed at safe-lite ....
Today I scheduled to get a windshield replacement as windshield replacements are free in my state. I now have a windshield less less pathfinder in my garage and im so angry. the previous replacement was done by safelite and they didn't prime the paint when they put it in. Now it has to go to the body shop have the rust repaired then have the replacment glass put in. :argh :tantrum: Image

Put in my new shocks (KYB Excel-G).

My old ones (OEM Nissan) were not in terrible shape, but took about twice the time to retract after compressed compared to the new ones.

Tomorrow: Struts

FYI, on ebay, you can buy the KYB Excel-G (Updated version of GR-2) shocks and struts for 260 shipped.

The dealer wanted $740 to change just one strut....

I really need to find another set of struts that is valved for my race springs.

I have ~34-35k miles on the new kyb gr-2 ones i put in, and they are already shot. I mean replacing them every 35k isnt THAT bad, but id rather put in a set that will last longer if they are available.

Anyone have other options?
