Congrats. I laughed when you got out of the car and it died immediately. You had the whole "WTF" going on, as you turned around to get back in.

I didn't particularly like the sound quality... it sounded a hell of a lot different from where I was!!! And a lot of exhaust sound reverberated off of the steel drip pan under the engine.

Woooooh! She's running so so so much better now.

Issues:
IACV connector polarity was reversed - wasn't functioning. FIXED!
IACV wasn't drawing through MAF - temporarily fixed! (until I get an intake)
Coolant temperature sensor wasn't fully connected; dumping fuel - FIXED!
Injector that previously tested bad now tests perfect!

Video #2 a little later after I upload and edit.

Sounds good, but how the hell do you plan to fit a hood over that engine?

I have to bleed the coolant system and hook up my new oil pressure gauge first and foremost. I grabbed an intake off a Q in the junkyard today. I'll clean that up and get the intake squared away. I saw two Qs at the yard that had real nice VHs in 'em... I so want to get another one and build a FI version, but I have nowhere to put it right now. SOON!

Glad you got it goin' Zach, good feeling to see your work starting to pay off! Would you consider wiring up my harness for a fee?

Here's another update to kind of get things back up to speed. All of this is PRIOR to the start-up.

Gas tank install.

Replaced throttle body retaining bolts with nice clean, stainless ones. :)

Image

Installed the seat so I could actually sit in the damn thing. :p

Image

Didn't have the knock sensor/temp sensor harness, so I needed to fabricate something to get the temp signal back to the ECU. This is only temporary, and it coming disconnected was one of the issues I had to resolve with the car's rough initial idle. Gold plated tiny disconnects.

Installed the injector harness.

Plenum back on.

Made up some grounding solutions.

Image

Lucas 80W-90 for the rear end.
Mobil 1 75w-90 for the transmission, and my clever way of filling it.
Mobil 1 15w-50 for the engine... quite a bit of it too, haha.

First start was a fail from the get-go. Starter relay turned out to be bad, figures. Bypassed the old one and it turned over; therefore, I bought a new one - $17 @ Advance.

Image
Image

Pulled it out of the garage for the first start!

Random thought: why won't this go in any further? 7qts of oil it reads bottom tip of the dipstick. Any VH45DE people out there wanna check to see how far in your dip stick is? I would appreciate it.

Image

And finally, the little bracket I made to hold the rear side of the power-steering pump in place:

And yet more to come, guys.

It's not included in my updates, but I cleaned out the IACV using carburetor cleaner. I installed that above power steering pump bracket. Without it, the tension of the belt was skewing the pump a little bit and the belt would surely have popped off. Also, there is a blue 10ga wire that stretches along the back of the engine. It grounds the heads together and connects where the harness is grounded on bank 1 to where bank 2 is grounded to the chassis. Later today I will cover my oil pressure gauge and intake. I need to find a filter as well. To be continued...

Both motors create 305hp, and mine isn't quite 501lbs. I know torque wins races, but I don't need all of it at 2500 RPMs. Besides, I only paid free.99 for mine. :)

I'm in Texas. I'll hit you up a little later about the harness. Regarding the dipstick, nothing should keep it from going in, just get a little more persuasive with it. Everything looks great!

You may have already gone over this, so sorry if you did. But what are you planning on doing with the interior and the exterior? I think widebody with super deep 18s would be nice. Interior, well, I guess stock. I like makin things fast, but nice, I've always loved nice interior.

The interior will be painted, new seats, new dash, very simple. The exterior will get a nice paint job, tasteful aero kit, and 17s to fit. It will be a very tasteful build, but it will primarily see the track.

The flange on your dipstick tube should be seated all the way down on the block or pretty damn close to it. Ask me how i know? I pulled mine today while pulling the motor out of my car.

Thank you much. I couldn't get it to go any further. Now that I know it seats down, I'll just try some more. Also, uhh... why'd you pull your motor?
