Now there's a concept, especially if they sell the Brembos!

R32 - non brembo. They're 300mm x 32mm with the Nissan/Sumitomo aluminum 4-piston calipers. Same width as Z32 but 20mm larger in dia.

On a related note, has anyone seen the front brakes on '05 Subaru WRXs? It's our old friend the iron SUmitomo, but with "Subaru" cast into it instead of "Nissan".

Mazda also used them on the RX-7 back in the day, and the Toyota uses a larger version of them now on the 4Runner/Land Cruiser and maybe some others.

You'll never run out of pad choices going with those calipers, that's for sure!

The "brembo" brakes that are on that later GT-R, and the 350Z/G35 are the same thing as the Z32 calipers, except with bigger rotors...

Brembo is such an oversold name in the nissan brake... All brembo nissan calipers are pretty much the same as the Z32. IIRC they all even use the same pad.

Yeah, right. Dumb old Ferrari, Porsche, Nissan, etc. What do they know?

But then a Chevy is just an "undersold" Infiniti.

i never said anything about other brembo models.. i guess I didnt make that clear... Brembo is the king of brakes... OBVIOUSLY they are good with brakes, but as far as brembo brakes on nissan OEM, they are no better than the regular Z32 calipers. Just different lengths to accomodate larger rotors..

The bottom line is.. its stupid for someone to pay for the Brembo brakes off a 350Z or G35, when all they are is 300ZX calipers (in essence) except they use larger rotors.....

Get DOT4 fluid. I bought a quart of clear from NAPA, and a quart of ATE Super Blue from RaceShopper.com. That way, I could flush with clear, then flush with blue.

It is easy to tell when the blue starts to come out, and the clear is gone, that you have all new fluid.

I also bought speedbleeders, so I could flush the brake system by myself, and it took only about 30 minutes to flush the entire system.

Last fall I bought some factory high performance GT-R brakes out of Japan. Included were four 11.5" factory drilled rotors in like new condition.

Normally, I save this kind of a post for the for sale section, but since we are discussing brakes, allow me to do just a little hijacking.

These rotors were drilled by Nissan, which means they were done correctly, holes all drilled in the right places, no holes thru the vanes inside. And they are very high quality metal.

But I need to sell them, so if anyone wants some real Nissan high performance GT-R rotors I'm asking $250.00 pr. Maybe not as cool as Brembo, but the quality is definitely there!

Both the calipers and the spacers are "in transit"...

probably early next week. I will take some nice hi res pics of them so you can help me determine if there are any missing clips and what-not.

The place that did the auction listed missing pieces/clips on the auction description for other calipers. So, since they didn't list anything of that type on this set, I am assuming these are complete. But, we will find that out soon enough.

I working on brake pads... I emailed the seller and asked about pads. "They are included but not recommended. You should replace them."... was their answer.

Unfortunately, I forgot about a couple of Christmas expenses... so, I am out of cash for the moment. So, I may have to take a look at the pads and see if they feasible in the short term. In a month I can afford to replace them.... we shall see.

pads are really to install... if they have any meat on them, you can replace them in like an hour whenever you "get around to it" .... Id probably wait until spring, because you dont really need really grippy brakes when theres snow on the ground.... ... The Z32 pads are really easy to replace on the car.... Take out 2 pins, a spring, and a clip and slide out old pads, slide in new pads.. Maybe it could be considered a "ross friendly" DIY...

Ive been using the pads that came with my calipers, that people recommended be replaced, for about 8 months..

If they come with the pads installed, you are good to go......

oooh, ooh, ooh, a "Ross friendly" DIY project... woot!

I accept... with the help of my much more "auto mechanic" friendly brother-in-law.

should I clean these up real good before install? If so, will just some brake parts cleaner work? If not, what is the best way to get them all nice and clean for installation.

Looks good rossman..... Nothing missing which is really surprising for ebay calipers.....! The pads look like their in good shape and have at least 50% meat left..... Should be good for nearly a year if you wanted to go that long.. I probably would!

dont think im going to give my rotors away for free since I just put in about 2-3-4 hours into making them pretty.. maybe like $30 for all 4? covers the extra wheel i had to buy for my dremel, the paint, and the labor.. if you have any golf stuff youd be willing to trade for i can certainly be bribed with that!!!

I don't know what would make you think I have any golf stuff... :looks around suspiciously: ... what do you need? Dozen ProV1's? Some grips? I would be glad to take your sticks back with me... grip 'em, and fire 'em back to you UPS!
