from P2M: with my estimates in ()

"When you are ready to do the SR install yourself, make a check list of things you need to do with the install. From our experience, we recommend to do the following same time with the install:

Air filter kit

Downpipe upgrade (150)

Catback upgrade (500)

Boost gauge (115)

Turbo timer (90)

New clutch kit (300)

300ZX fuel filter (70)

300ZX TT or Supra TT Denso fuel pump upgrade (120)

Stock or aftermarket intercooler kit (1000)

300ZX NGK / Denso spark plugs (gap to 0.030) (50)

4 quart of 10w30 generic oil (to be changed out at first 500 miles), afterwards Synthethics welcome. (50)

2.5 qt of tranissmion fluid (30)

Nissan SR20DE oil filter (5)

When you have all the parts ready for the swap, you must prep the SR motor before dropping it in:

Removal of the stock SR AIV solenoid and weld the recirculation port off the turbo O2 housing shut (S13 SR only).

Check oil pan for any signs of dent or damage.

Change to the KA speed sensor as well as the transmission sensors.

Check the condition of the fan clutch. Ditch the stock fan clutch if bad, and run aftermarket electric fan.

Check stock turbo for shaft play and condition. Check condition of the SR engine mounts, KA engine mounts can be used but we highly recommend upgrade to the Nismo 3pc mounts ($280) or brand new Nissan KA mounts.

Check condition of the drivebelts, replace if needed."

and from HT:

"How Much does it cost?

$2400 SR20DET engine and 5 speed transmission

$80 - $200 Shipping

$309 - $339 Performance clutch kit

$139 - $229 3" downpipe

$849 - $999 Intercooler Kit

$129 - $220 Blow Off Valve

$129 Hi Flow Fuel Pump

$390 - $650 60mm - 80mm full cat-back exhaust

$55 K&N filter and aluminum intake adapter

$50 Motor oil, PS fluid, transmission oil, coolant

$99 Radiator hoses and heater hoses, belts

$35 Oil filter, fuel filter & plugs

$14 Heat wrap tape

EZ Install Kits Here

Optional

$65 Trunk mount battery box and cable

$150 Boost and Fuel Pressure Gauges

$149 Electric Fan Kit

$50 - $125 Manual Boost Controller

$250 - $550 Electronic Boost controller

$109 Turbo Timer

$220 High-flow cat

$550 Lightened flywheel

$275 Lightweight Pulley Set "

you get an engine that is complete, it should come with everything needed to do the swap EXCEPT the intercooler, intercooler piping, blow off valve, and downpipe. We recommend replacing the clutch and fuel pump also. Along with the engine and transmission, you should receive the following parts:

Top Engine Harness ECU engine harness ECU Lower Engine / transmission harness Power Steering pump Power Steering high pressure Line Power Steering reservoir if SOHC car, DOHC has correct reservoir Alternator - can use some DOHC KA Alternators Starter AC compressor Ignitor Chip and assembly Wastegate solenoid controller Turbo inlet pipe Turbo outlet pipe Canister Engine mounts MAFS - SOHC can be wired to work Turbo Wastegate actuator Cam Angle Sensor Throttle Body Turbo exhaust outlet extension Bell housing bolts

Sometimes engines that are missing things like the ECU or with a cut harness are offered at a discount from Heavy Throttle or other vendors. Be aware that some parts are easier to find than others. Currently main engine harnesses are difficult to find. ECU, MAF, CAS, Ignitor Chip - these things are relatively easy to find."

alll this can be found by searching the boards, and links. thanks

OMG... that was like the greatest thread ever!!!1

Open it back up because I was wondering if this "powered by nismo" sticker I have here will add more whp than the "powered by Mugen" sticker I have on my car since the sr20det is turbo'd and the b16a isn't and whether my fatty altezzas can be grafted to a 240sx fairly easily.

no, u cant do that. but the neon red ground fx kits do add more hp than the green cuz we all know the green are on civics and if you put the red on instead then tun the transmogrification button on ur vtech over to sr20 it will give u added boost because it regonizes the wavelength of the red light.

wait..... that calls everything I know into question.

my triple-level spoiler will still be the best mod I can tranfer over right? I mean three is better than one and the added wieght of the spoiler is good because it will make more downforce right?

Also I think I'll put it on my hood so it'll be on the opposite side of the wheels that drives the car like on my civic. Do you think it'll obstruct my view too much?

you will see fine just make sure u put the 200 lb exhaust with the 20in tip on the back to counter the weight, and add "down" force. but if your going with the wing on the hood u need the led lights on your windshield wipers. and make sure u use the red (bigger hp gain) : P

Considering that I will be doing my own work (and probably take forever, but I'm going to college in a couple of months and won't need the car much), how much should the 300zx brake conversion cost?

So no one ever responded and I think MikeS14240sx doesn't know what he is talking about...What "extra" is required to put an S13 motor into an S14? The mounts are the same, the engine size is the same. Is the exhaust manifold a different size? The entire thing needs to be rewired anyway so thats not the issue. WHERE DOES THIS 1000 DOLLARS EXTRA COME FROM??

ok im not sure if this has been answered yet, theres so many different conversations in this thread i have no idea whats goin on. if im not mistaken, the first question was about the difference between the red and black tops. sure theres about a $1000 difference, and im not asking whether its worth it or not (thats a matter of personal opinion, and im sure mine will be different than others), but i would like to know exactly what the differences are between the two. they dont seem to be substantial. they produce identical hp, someone said something about the size of the O2 sensor, but that cant be a $1000 bucks worth. please dont call this a stupid question either, it may be to you, but its not to me. im just a 20 year old punk tryin to learn some stuff before i mess my car up by not knowing enough about what i was doing

Subwall..The S13 Redtops are from 89-94 Silvias and 180sx's in Japan...the S13 Blacktops are from 95-98 180sx's in JapanSo in reality you are getting a newer motor...there are also several small things that are different like some code in the ecu , but it's not much...I'm getting the S13 just because it's newer, and it seems like everyone has the redtop...At first I was going to go with the S14 Notchtop, but after a little deliberation, I decided the low port design and the VTC wasn't worth it...even though the price difference is only 600 dollars(daunt's price) and 25 hp...
