DIGITAL ballasts also put alot less wear on the bulbs when they fire up. Most of the high end kits use the slim digitals

i mean that i was going to put the ballasts the same place as in this thread http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread?id=318637, but just stick one to the other and then zip tie, so the fog and low ballast for each side is in the same place

Do you want to do it again? theres plenty of space to put them... idk why you would want to stack them... are you desiring a repair? idk if it will cause any issues... but why find out? follow that DIY

well i wasnt too happy where i put the ballasts when i installed my lows through the wheel well....this location just seems like a cleaner and perfect place for them, plus if im installing HID fogs and ill be taking the bumper off for that, so i might as well relocate the low beam ballasts to this location as well.

well my fogs and headlights are xentec 6k's and i didnt have an issue with the ballasts... and it was all done thru the wheel-well... why take the bumper off for the fogs, they are easier to access than the headlights thru the well!

it just looks so much easier to take off the bumper than to have to jack up the car take the wheel off take the wheel well housing off, and still have to jam your head up there and scrape your hands from working in close quarters.....this just seems like an easier/cleaner install.....its not a big deal for me for relocate the ballasts that i have installed now...and it will be especially easy with the bumper off

checking out the thread for bumper removal, it doesnt seem that hard......just a few clips and a few screws and it pulls off....all without having to jack up the car and spend 2 hours on my back with my head in the wheel well

yeah... i understand... but i would rather not take off the bumper if i dont have to... it was a lot easier when he had it on the lift jacked up to eye level

I took the front bumper off by myself with no problem. Very light weight. Putting the bumper back is another story. You have to kind of align the bumper to get it in correctly. Took me a while, but I got it in.

As I replied to your other post, removing sedan front bumper is similar to the coupe.

nice...thanks dude....what was the problem with aligning it while putting the bumper back on? was it the fact that it was a little too large for 1 person? do you think it would have been easier with 2 people?

also....you stuck your low and fog ballasts to each other in that one spot when you take the bumper off, right? was there enough clearance for the 2 regular sized ballasts, because i plan on getting the new super slim ballast Xentec kits. also, do you think there is a heat issue in sticking them together since the ballasts get hot during operation?

its a lot easier... and i dont need a friend to hang out for an hour while im futzing around... some people like to DIY (i will DIY if i am confident, i wont walk in the dark)... Taking the whole bumper off is more time consuming, and if your lucky and have loads of room, maybe you wont scratch it... ive never took a bumper off before, but i can feel the panic attack id be having if it was off and i was by myself lol... to each his own... all i know is i have a sweet ride!

taking the bumper off is as easy as removing a few clips and screws....super easy....and i never like paying someone else to do work that i can easily do myself in my driveway....and an easy solution to not scratching the bumper....lay it down on grass.....man....who woulda though grass would be so soft!?

Not that it's too large, but trying to align it to match all the pins was kind of tricky. If you dont align it correctly, the bumper will not snap in correctly. That's

[/quote]Yes, I mounted one ballast in the top portion and the other ballast in the bottom portion. I didnt mount them one on top of each other. Use your creative imigination. When your car is moving, you are getting air through the front bottom grille to cool off your ballasts, bulbs, etc.

everybody seems to go with 6000k Lows and 5000k fogs....is there a reason for this? i bought 2 of the slim ballast 5000k sets for my lows and fogs and i plan on using my current 5000k for the highs

Are slim ballasts still 35W?

Yeah, I'm very pretty you can swap out the ballasts and re-use the hid bulbs and wirings.

BTW, what's you gonna do with those old xentec ballasts? Why not use the old ballasts for fogs and use the new slim ballasts for low beam?

yea youre probably right since the slims are 35w as well.

well i bought 2 slim ballast kits, 1 for fogs and 1 for lows, and ill use the "regular sized" ballasts that i have installed right now for the highs and ill just leave those ballasts where they are. so ill basically take out the halogen high beams and replace them with the HIDs that i have in my lows right now, and just put inthe 2 new slim kits for the lows and fogs.....ill take some pics of where all 3 ballasts are when i get the slim kits installed

btw...how do you insert a pic directly into a post? i couldnt figure it out

I'm assuming the slim ballasts are much small the old-sized ballasts, then you shouldn't have any issues mounting those slim ballasts at that location.

Can anyone post pics head on of 6000K headlights with either 5000k or 3000k fog lights?
