I called Dependable Auto shippers to check on status two days ago, and they said they were still trying to locate a custom truck for it...

Today, it's arrived. A little over a week, after I paid, it gets here.

Turn around time is amazing. Highly recommended if you need to have your car transported.

Let the restoration begin...

I had the mileage swapped.. It has 31k not 13k.

Also has different rims then the ones pictures. There is like 0 room for the skyline calipers with 16 inch wheels. I am thinking an upgrade is neccasary...

Brakes go completely to the floor.. lol

It has some oddities.. It has a custom made panel which houses the sony cd head unit and the tcs button/jim wolf selector..

It has comfort and sport.. I guess this isn't the trimode, but I though the tri mode was the only one with a button.. It only has two settings though not three..

It has the tweeters of the 94+ like exact repliacs.. the pillars look the same as my 94..

This roll cage is insanity.. The trunk is loaded down with a transmission actuators and random other crap, I can't identify.

I misunderstood about the cutting in the hood. They didn't cut the hood, they cut the bumper. I will need a new front bumper, not hood. There is some issue with the wiring. The slip and tcs off button are on at the same time. I'm not sure anything from that custom panel is functioning.

Overall I am very pleased. It needs some restoration work, but I like the way it turned out.

I thought it had Brembo brakes in front., with 17". Are you putting the Skyline brakes in the rear?

I have the Automobile Magazine issue somewhere. Haven't seen it since i moved though.

If you could find that mag, you'd be my hero! Or maybe if you know when it's from I could get a copy..

It has the skyline setup front/rear.. Nissan calipers all the way around... The 16s BARELY clear them.. BARELY

It has leather armrests where the normal ones used to be.

The seats look kind of different, but im not sure. I'll try to get some pics of it. Luckily the whole dash isnt covered in wood..

I think they redid all the cars leather... I don't have a 90-93 to compare against though..

I know they did the armrests/grip.. I think the door panels as well... The seats leather looks slighty different then I remember my 91 being...

This thing is way to unrestored to drive.. Towing it to the shop..

Hopefully these are fuse issues, but nothing is functioning in the interior..

Interior lights/power seating/windows.. TCU switch, act sus switch... Brakes are just about 100% non functioning. The Sus is in backup mode.. Driving this thing over a speed bump was horrible..

I wonder if you have a leak as well? My car sits low as all get out and rides JUST on those tiny coil springs. The ride is brutal and it's easy to scrape the under carriage/exhaust. You may need a flat bed to have it towed.

Would you like me or Wes to host the pictures Ryan? I think we'd both be more than glad to :D .

Shoot me an e-mail if you like and I can provide you the info you need.

Highly not recommended by me! These are the bast(*&^ I used back in 2001 to transport "Q2" from CA to SC. When I got their quote they negelected to mention that it didn't include insurance like the 20+ other quotes I got - so I took only their number with me to CA. Then when I actually arranged the transport the rep. on the phone says they have something like a 2% claims rate. After they scraped the fuel lines off of the bottom of the car, I found out that it's more like 15%.

In any case, they hid behind all of the garbage in the contract and only paid $250 toward the damage - even though it was entirely due to their negligence. They even claimed that they were doing me a favor by waiving some deductable...

Worthless... but I'm glad you had a better experience than I did!

Nice looking Q...but I don't know the history behind this car or its purchase. Can I find some details on here? Maybe info about the car and your plans for it? No need to re-hash it all here, though you can. A link will be fine.

Thanks!

That sucks! I may have gotten lucky.. I also didn't have it tranported on a DAS truck, because it was too low. IT was basically sub contracted.

The article on the Geoff Brabham Q45 was in Automobile Magazine. I will search diligently to find it and scan it for members.Try calling them for a back issue, if you tell them you own the car maybe they will give it to you for free!

You should also let Steve Millen know. He might have some of the work orders and other specs. Maybe he'd get a kick out of hearing from you.

I recall that the interior was reupholstered-it had softer leather surfaces with a gathered look. Maybe the doors, also.

I have (or had) the Automobile Magazine fxjackso has and recall reading about the amazement of some Nissan representatives that Steve Millen successfully lowered the car while retaining the functionality of the active suspension. The pics showed the Brabham Q45a with five hole AZEV Type B wheels, 245/50-16 tires, that Impul grille and I thought it had (I'm almost sure of it) the Stillen Wing rear spoiler on it that is still available. Since there is no telling what box my Automobile mag is in, I'm gonna run over to the old-books music and magazine store we have here and see if they have a copy.

What is the month and year of this Automobile Magazine you guys are talking about. I have Automobile Magazine stored in my basement all the way back from about 1989. If you tell me the month and year I'll look for it and make a copy of the article, and send it. Let me know. By the way, I also have Car & Driver for 1986 on, and Road & Track from about 1988 on. I also have some old Motor Trend but I have like from 1987-1992. Motor Trend sucks compared to the other three.

Wow, guys. I really appreciate all this input.

I have those wheels that you mentioned. Five hole AZEV wheels.

I love the custom leather. It smells and looks great. It's really nice and soft. I would love to talk to steve about this car.

I want to restore to the condition that be built it to. Its simply way too nice to turn into a race car. I want to convert it back.

When you say lowered, are you referencing the body kit?

Looks like the biggest hurdle is going to be the front bumper with the cutting. That's the worst part of the whole car, and will be the most expensive. I need to try to find a parts car or something. I'm going to get some matched paint, and redo the body kit, as it has some chips and stuff in it.

You guys rock!

No. The article did make mention of the Impul body kit and that Stillen was considering making it available in the states. Erebuni had a kit that looked very similar. On Stillen's website, a body kit is still available for the 1st Gen Q. However the kit could be a Xenon, Sarona or something other than the Impul. The article also stated that some Nissan guys were nervous about Stillen lowering the suspension do to the fact that it was an active model Q being modified and how the electronics and sensors would respond to the lowering. Apparently everything worked out fine along with the installation of the 4.11 (4.08) gear set. Keep in mind that the mods took place more than a decade ago. Plenty of time for system failures (my memory for example) and/or other mods being done to the car.

I am wondering how they lowered the car, without somehow programming the active suspension ECU????

Someone could have tinkered around with the active suspension parameters. Maybe even ol Step himself (Clark Steppler with Jim Wolf Technology)...:evilhaha

I contacted Stillen previously, but they wouldn't tell me anything until I got the Kryder racing to contact them, stating the vehicle had been sold (which it hadn't at that point) I'm going to have them do that now.. Maybe they can provide further insight..

I need to get this roll cage out ASAP. The interior on this car is gorgeous. The custom panel they made for the cd head unit and the buttons is very nice.. Looks 100% oem.. Almost makes me not want to take out the sony head unit, because it wouldn't look complete.

I am also wondering about the TCU. It has a switch with two settings (comfort/sport).. I guess it's just a programmable high mode TCU? I thought the only tcu with adjustments/buttons was the tri mode, but this doesn't have three selectable settings.

I love the body kit, it looks very OEM. Really enhances the lines of the car.

What doesn't enhance the lines of the car is this raging hole in the bumper... pictured below.

Gad damn Ryan that car is tight! Can't wait to see more pics!

Btw, the front bumper does look repairable, but it would involve you doing a substantial amount of fiberglass work. I could find ya all the how to's I found when I was looking at doing some fiberglass work.

In any case, AWESOME car!
