Well, hey, at least your 240 is SR-powered, as opposed to KA-powered. *sniff sniff*

a s13 coupe with a sr20det and a silvia front end is essentially a silvia to me, it doesnt matter what side the steering wheel is on, youre saying if you suddenly found a LHD skyline it wouldnt be one?

GREAT thread!

I say one of you Neanderthals needs to email the seller and link him to this thread!

I haven't looked at the auction, but I LOOOOVE turbo MR2's. One of my top 10 favorite (non-exotic) cars. If you EVER get a chance to drive one, do it!!!

One of your top 10 favorite *NON-EXOTIC* cars? I'd say the MR2 is an exotic, especially when you look at the production figures . . . only 908 in 94, 356 in 95 (in the US anyway). . . that's lower than Ferarri of the same year, probably. :-)

Are you absolutely SURE about those production #'s?

If I could afford a new one (then) and buy it off a dealer lot (then), it ain't exotic. :D

Haha.

Yeah, those production numbers are accurate for the US market, according to the MR2 FAQ on mr2.com as one source, and I've seen others reflecting the same facts. They don't reflect worldwide distribution, just in the United States for those years, 95 being the last year in the US. Maybe not a full blown exotic, buy Toyota seemed intent on making it a mini-exotic in every way, shape, and form, including production. :-)

Very interesting - Thanks for that, Sean!

I'd love to find a low-mileage one in that "ice-blue" (light silvery-blue metallic) color. MMMmmm tasty!

No problem at all man. And I believe I found what you were looking for, you're just a tad late (and will probably encounter sticker shock). :-)

that car looks as close to a chode as a car can look.

as for the production models, going with the same logic, you could say a subaru svx is an exotic, and i dont see a ton of support for thoes :P

mr2 = sport coupeferarri = exotic

WOW. That's just cruel, Sean. I don't think I could scrounge up 20 large.... I'd be afraid to put more miles on it, too!

Anybody who thinks that car isn't sweet needs to drive one (on a track)... FAR more attractive than an early 240 IMO. Pininfarina got that one right.

well, being an mr2 guy myself, i have a few things to say- z3 fenders has to go- thats just gay IMO. I wonder how much he spent to have those installed. That isnt steel mist gray either. SMG has a blue tint to it durning the day while at night it looks dark gunmetal. SMG is probably the hardest paint to match as well. My car used to be SMG and there was no way to match it because its a 3 layer paint followed by clear and its hard to get it right. So, instead of repainting the whole car SMG again, I just repainted my whole car Baby blue- here is a link to my car-

hopefully you like it better than that wide body one-

oh and this is my first post cause im trying to learn some things about the sr20 cause looks like im doing a swap into a 92 coupe 240. Clip should be here end of sept.

Hmm... The door looks like it was originally SMG. But yes, SMG is the coolest yet the hardest to reproduce color ever.

OK, I just looked at it (the eBay one).

Somebody made a beautiful car ugly, and thinks it's worth something now.

Someone needs to email the seller a link to this thread. What a waste of a gorgeous body style.

Very easily. The kit takes away the original lines of the car.

I'd like an svx. Then again I like odd hard to find cars. Just wish there was a manual version. If there is one I've never seen it.
