+1 for de-badged. I did it to mine. IMO, the re-badging to "Skyline" is simply about rarity. You don't see them around, so it would tend to attract attention among those who know.

it's kinda like doing this:

Hey... VW owns Rolls, so, why not??

variety is the spice of life! If we all did the same things to our G's it would be pretty boring. We even need the ricers to give us something to talk/giggle about. We need a hug-a-ricer day!! maybe I've gone too far again...

in america people tend to want to stand out being able to tell others that i dont drive a nissan its a infiniti as same thing with lexus gs that is a toyota "something" cant put my fingure on it. but just as the simple honda accord in europe is the TSX that we know here. and you cant call it a honda because then you wont be viewed as succesful or w.e it may be.

http://www.honda.pl/szczegoly.php?aukcj ... acja_max=6

and the japan site for skyline..ya dont ask me how i got there, but after a lot of trial and error of random clicking on japans nissan site i finally found it.

http://www2.nissan.co.jp/SKYLI....html

p.s. $27k so under $30k for a skyline/g35.

and the 350z coupe base price in europe is $67k.

the first infiniti dealership in europe will be built in 2009

Clear as mud!!Uh - isn't the Avalon FRONT Wheel Drive - if so then it is not the same car as the Lexus G.

Now the Lexus ES and the Toyota Camry are built on the same platform and are both Front Wheel Drive.

I was talking for the Us Production...

The accord is way bigger than a TSX that is why it is The TL.. and not the TSX in USA

Other countries might be different

Again not true - the original and all subsequent Avalons are built on stretched Camry Platforms. Do a wikepedia search or search industry (not car and driver type sources).

Here is a quote from one.

"Like several recently released models, such as the Ford Five Hundred and Chrysler 300, the 2005 Avalon is big. It rides on a new platform that will form the basis for the next-generation Camry, and has a 100 mm longer wheelbase than the previous Avalon. It's also wider, by 30 mm, and faces the world with a sleeker, more contemporary grille. Character lines down the side accent the Avalon's length. "

I know this is not the point of this thread but I really hate when people present opinion and assumption as fact. You will have to show me where you foound that the Lexus GS and the Toyota avalon share the same platform.

If you look at the two cars parked right next to each other you will see what i am talking about.. They are the same car... the way the doors are cut.. the size of them are the same... Booth have the same style on the tail lights as far as shape.

You can check the web site and see the length and size of everything.

And just becasue it is a camry platform don't mean that the gs and avalon use the larger camry platform... But I also know that I have heard that The IS is a smaller Gs Platform... That would also make sense at why it isn't a camry platform.

I am a Lexus/Toyota Lover... I only got a G becasue i wanted a 6speed sedan.

I had 2 lexus before my G

01 Is 300 and 03 Gs 430

Park them next to each other and you will see that they are built on the same platform!

I'm not talking about how the cars look - I'm talking about how they are built.

Here is another quote for you, not from Wikepedia. See bold type.

"CamryUndoubtedly, Camry is very important to Toyota. On the one hand, itself was the USA's best selling car for 8 times in the past 9 years (1997-2000 and 2002-2005), capturing 400,000 units or so sales every year. On the other hand, it provides platform to other models like Avalon, Solara, Lexus ES and Lexus RX. They form one of the 4 global core platforms for Toyota - the others are the Corolla platform, Vitz / Yaris platform and SUV / pickup platform. One can see how important it is."

The Nissan altima side by side looks similiar to the G35 but they are different platforms.

For the record the current generation IS is built on a shortened GS platform. This type of information can be found in industry publications and information.

really confused as to what that means but my post with the pictures in it meant is that the accord is a tsx. and the only difference is that in america we want the differenciate oursleves as infiniti drivers not nissan. its all in the 2 previous posts.

My question is why would toyota build a car that is the same size and not use the same platform....

The Rx Es Camry and Salara are all the same size cars

The Gs and the avalon are the same size I know the Is is an exception...

Don't make sence to me but

I stand Corrected lol Probably will never hear that again..

Hey it was a fun debate... almost as good as last nights Presidential Debate..

It took place about 4 blocks from my house lol

Yeah, but Wikipedia said....

Oh, nevermind.

The Volkswagen/Rolls thing was only a joke.... sure didn't mean to spark such a heavy debate about similar auto platforms!!

At least Rich got my humor! Thanks SVT!!

I have always had an attraction to ugly cars. An attraction much like the need to rubber neck at an accident. (PLEASE don't take that to mean I think that the badge switch to Skyline is ugly... I don't want to start THAT flame war!! lol) Things like, well, the Thing. Bugs with a Rolls front and rear grafted on, The Gremlin. Sedans lifted and made into a 4X4... and of course, these:

BTW, I saw a really nice coupe while driving N on the 605 fwy near Spring street today. Black, deep dish 20's, spoiler, lowered, with Skyline badging on the back and the Nissan badge on the grill. Looked sweet.

Oh, and Wiki is nice, but as Sean said, it is not all verified info. Anyone can submit to the site.

Yeah... age. I feel your pain.

As to music... I dabble in the drums, when I'm not dribbling on myself, (Just another gratuitous age reference), but they are up in the closet right now. my neighbor below does not appreciate good music nearly as much as she should!! I also have a geetar which I have been threatening to start learning to play. I'm just not sure yet if I want to re-learn real music reading, or just look up tabs. I played trumpet, french horn and baritone MANY moons ago.
