Freaking s13 is always squealing. I'm about to blow this pos up. It squeals when:*I'm slowing down to a stop sign*as im sitting at the stop sign*when my rpms fall below 700 (my idle fluctuates cause its a pos so its constantly doing this)*when i downshift*when I start driving*when my heater is on*and here's the most bulls*** one of all.. when my passenger door is open. wtf is that?

I seriously can't take this anymore, it's got to be the most annoying thing ever. Any ideas?

The heater thing has got to be the alternater bearing or whatever, so I'll replace the alternater next paycheck, but what about the other stuff?

It's been below freezing for like the past month here, and thats about how long the problems have been happening. So it might be the cold? But like the passenger door being open, wtf?

Help me pleasee! I'm going insane.

EDIT: pretty sure belts are fine.

Most likely a loose belt. Find out which is loose and tighten it.

Don't call these cars crappy because you don't know how to work on them.

Edit the post title to: "I dont know how to work on my 240sx, what would cause this squeel?"

Figure out what is squeeling and fix it. These cars are 20+ years old now, with 20+ year old parts and bushings and such. What do you expect. I love how these noobs get into s13's and dont realize that everything isnt brand new and in excellent condition. Being that the car is 20+ years old, parts are worn and are going to need to be replaced. If you dont replace parts as they need to be, then you end up with 3 or 4 issues rather than taking care of each one as they come up. Sounds like you have a few issues that you need to address. Feel free to take care of your car as most people on here do and diagnose, buy parts, and replace as ness. This thread is useless and if you dont know how to work on a car, then an s13 is not the car for you. Unless you buy one like the one I just sold, where I had replaced the entire suspension, did a master poly bushing set, and z32 fr and rr brakes with 5 lug, then you will need to replace parts on it.

Tighten/adjust your belts or replace them. Do that and be 100% sure that's not the problem. Also lube your door.zerothread?id=424114

-Replace or tighten your belts via belt tensioner.-Replace worn bushings, preferably all bushings with the Energy Suspension bushings-Replace blown/ worn shocks ( if you dont have coilovers)-Use lube on door hinges

There are many things you can to prevent/fix issues with our cars, most fixes are very logical and simple....

Quit trippen cuhz.

I had the same problem. I checked and double checked and my belts still would squeal sometimes. I had it like this for over a year. It wasnt until this year when I pulled my motor that I figured it out. One of the bolts holding my powersteering pump had broken.

Apparently regular maintenance is too much work.

Anyways, bulls*** aside, I've checked the belts, I've gotten new belts, I've gotten a new waterpump.

And wtf do shocks have to do with my belt squealing? And how does lubing my door hinges stop the belt from squealing?

and I know how to work on the car decently. I'm poor, so I can't go around replacing all the parts possible here, so I ask to maybe find out what specific part will need replaced, especially with the door problem. My door being open is in no way connected to my belt squealing, unless its something electrical.

use the soap trick to confirm it is the alt belt. if it still squeal with new belt, it does sound like the alt. i had good luck with buying an refurbished alt on ebay.
