No, I need the extra torque -

Driving your mama down to KFC every two hours is like pulling a horse trailer. :D

I have 215 tires........ I think I'll go and have a nissan dealer use a consult on it (that way I can see what I need to do), have them do a power balance test, and all that fun stuff!!

good call on the power balance test.

I know this positively mocks common sense: The width of ones' tires has very very little affect on ones ability to burn out. The TYPE of tire is much a bigger factor due to changing co-effiecients of friction with the road surface.

Wider tires have the same number of square inches of contact suface with the road as narrower tires, because the wider tire distorts less. A tire is not like a tin can that is rigid, but like a ballon that distorts under load.

Here is a trustworthy rule for rubber tires: The weigh applied to tire / the PSI inside the tire = the number of square inches of contact. Irregardless of tire width.

Realworld example. Rear tire in Q = about 750 lbs applied downward. PSI = 34 thus contact suface = 22 inches square no matter the width (within reason, a bicycle tire will bottom out)

Do you know how much the dealer would charge to run a full test on the Q?

AZ, & others,

The throttle Position switch is at the Throttle Body. There are 2 switches in 1 here & if you have TCS, you'll have another one on the linkage side.

The Grey Oval plug, is on a wire, & this is the TPS, Throttle Position Switch, and has a Variable Resistor (potentiometer). The computer uses this to judge how fast you depress the accelerator pedal & where the throttle is. It also uses this switch at idle, only if the other switch fails. The Other switch is called the CTP, or Closed Throttle Position switch. It is the Black Rectangle plug. It is commonally called the TPS. The CTP tells the computer when you are at Idle only. The WOT (wide open throttle) isn't used on our Q's. (94-96 for sure)

These termianls MUST be very clean, as the voltage is only from 0-5v, & any residue on them can cause the computer to receive the wrong info, & therefore give incorrect performance.

The Air Mass Meter is at the Air Cleaner, & these terminals us varying voltage from 0-12v.

The CAS (crank Angle Sensor) is on the front of the engine, & when looking at it from the front, is on the R/H side attached to the front of the Exhaust Cam. (lower one)

To clean them, you have to 1)use a tool, like the Dentist tooth pick, to remove the spring clip holding the terminal plug on.2)Carefully clean each terminal with a soft wire brush, like the size of a toothbrush. Your Auto shop should have something like this in stock.3)Clean the termianls in the Plug, by getting a piece of 600-1200 grade sandpaper & tear a small strip, about 1/16" wide, double it over & push it in & out of the terminals 4 -6 times. This is to get rid of the scum that can build-up over time.4)Use a good Electric Terminal Cleaner, available at your Electronic Parts Store, & give it a good spray.5)To help stop contamination, you can then use Terminal Grease, as used on Boat Motors.

This process should be used on all terminals that feed the computer, as any voltage variance will mess things up. ie: Junk In, Junk Out!

Good luck :D
