They stated outright that their goal with Project Silvia wasn't to build a drag monster. It wasn't even to build a drift car (although it can be easily set up that way with some simple adjustments). In one of the earlier installments (the one where they installed the JIC coilovers) they stated, in so many words, that their goal was to be able to outrun Porsches and other such cars on the track.
Considering they've only spent what they've spent, I think they're doing pretty damn well.
And about the mag in general?? Come on, guys, what do you expect? Really. Think business here. Who reads SCC? True import enthusiasts like most of us on this forum, who put performance above everything else?? Well, yes, such people do read it. I had a subscription, and I still buy it, and there's not a sticker or neon to be found on my car

But who really reads SCC?? RICEBOYS. Sure, the magazine would be better to us enthusiasts if that top 100 list were a little different, or if there weren't an APC ad every other page, but for real: why would they completely ignore, like, 1/2 of their reader demographic?
For a magazine like that, a little bit of bandwagoning (like having a drift feature every issue) can make a whole lotta money. Quit trashin' the mag and focus on the good stuff :p
