I drive 150 miles a day to various people's houses to do warranty repairs on their computers. By the time I get there, they have talked to the tech support line for basically 100 hours. Its the best job I have ever had, If possible, I will do this until retirement.

Wait tables at Applebee's. Sounds crappy but the people are cool and its cash in you pocket every night, good for a college job. Working 35+ hours a week and going to school full time does kinda suck though.

I am a full time business college student working at a meat specialty shop, I get the honor to watch the comic between the uneducated citizen drama between themselves. Sometimes I wonder why I'm even there, but then again, like many have said - it's work for now.

I work for a company called Filterfresh as a Service Tech fixing coffee machines. Everything from our first party VKI machines to our 3rd party machines (Keurig, Tassimo, Flavia, Bunn, Bloomfield, and Newco) my service area is all of the greater Philadelphia, Delaware counties, half of Chester, Montgomery and Bucks county in PA, all of New Castle county in DE, and all of Camden, Burlington, Gloucester counties and part of Mercer county in NJ. I drive anywhere from 650 - 1000 miles a week and in general work 42 -45 hours a week. It's cool I like it, beats the low voltage electrical work I was doing before, but I still plan to be a cop in the near future.

I work in the lighting / entertainment industry at a place called LightParts. I am the shipping department. I pack and ship all our orders, in addition to recieving and keeping track of repairs parts.

I hope someone doesn't read this and go, "you're that guy! where's my order!?"

Is that something you enjoy? Personally, I would hate not having a "home" but I know a lot of people would love it.

Yeah i think this sounds pretty awesome. Do want
Like anything, it's got it's positives and negatives.

Good:
-I've never met my boss.
-Nobody tells me what hours to work (obviously the job has to get done though).
-When I'm on the job site, I'm 100% autonomous. Nobody tells me how to do a project, nor do I have to pass things through people. My project manager (whom I've never met either) knows that I've been operating in a senior capacity for years and knows that I know best.
-Always a new location. I'm a creator, not a maintainer.
-If a job site is unresponsive or if I am not doing anything, I have the ability to save billing hours by calling AMEX and booking a flight back home.
-I have a team of folks I hand picked. I am their senior but not their babysitter. I dont write reports on them, nor do I handle their problems. We have a very professional relationship that applies to the job and the job only. If someone doesn't cut it, I have the ability to axe them from my team and send them back to the PM for reassignment on some other project.

Bad:
-I miss my cat.
-I cannot work on my cars/kart during the week.
-My weekends are always very time consuming. I have to make sure I handle EVERYTHING I need done during that week in two to three days. This also has to coincide with the fact that I average 25-30+ motorsports events each year (it's only mid-April and I've already clocked 10 days on track).
-My friends outside the motorsports world get pretty neglected.
-I dont get much rest at all.
-I have a massive amount of stress put on me between being the go-to person and trying to compete nationally in motorsports.
-I dont really know my way around my city. I dont even know where a Denny's is.
-It's very hard to eat properly and I need to lose weight to be able to get close to the minimum 380 lbs (kart + driver).

If you're never home how come you have a cat? Or a pet at all? While cats (and fish) are pretty much self sustainable, they still require minimal care and daily feeding. Sorry just my .02 cents. I would love to have a job that was all travel, but like you I have a cat and frankly he's been the one stable thing in my life for the last 10 years and TBH I would miss him to much and wouldn't know what I'd do if I didn't see him everyday.

I have a roommate who lives there full time. The cat isn't alone for days at a time.

Dam some of you guys have pretty amazing careers.

My dream job is to be a part of NASA in some way, build satallites, or be an astronomer observing stuff in space over time. Or, make money by a win of the lottery...

Unfortunately winning the lottery requires you to play, and I am much to cheap to do that. Actually, probably less cheap than I am too lazy to walk into the gas station and buy a ticket.

That's what I wanted to do in college (ran out of money, joined the USAF instead). I still do a lot of my own backyard astronomy and keep up to date on on-going missions (like New Horizons and Dawn).

Up until last month I was working for a Peterbilt truck dealer as a parts salesman. I jumped ship this month to start selling parts for a local Hyundai dealer. I shaved 60 miles off my daily commute doing so. Hyundai is the next big boom in cars like Toyota and Honda were in the 90s. Time to ride that wave and make some damn money.

I actually work two jobs...part time as a systems/mechanical engineer on a few gov projects and then part time car sales

NASA would be a really cool place to work. Sadly with all the jobs being cut and the competition of the Space X it may not be in the near future :frown:

Awesome photo you found!!
Landlord told me his son just started flying those out in CA.

Anywho, I manage the bulk food department at a independent natural/organic grocery store. Ordering/inventory/stocking/etc.
It's a laid back job (perhaps too laid back); and I've been there long enough that I have good benefits, a flexible schedule, and good vacation time.
Can't stress enough how awesome it is to work for a independent store and an honest employer that cares about the business and its employees; also just about everyone I work with is hilarious and we seem to get along well.
Plan to stick around until I find something in the photo or automotive area.

I'm an Engineer at Nissan.

I actually applied at NASA and had an interview scheduled with them, but it got canceled before it took place. The job openings all shut, and NASA downsized. :(

I am a mechanical engineer contracting for NASA. NASA itself is looking kind of stagnant for the immediate future, they are in an almost agency wide hiring freeze. That means no more hiring federal employees (except for vacancies deemed "critical") although no federal employees were laid off. Contractors, at least at our center are down to about 1/2 strength of 2009. While the budget got passed and it takes time for a detailed plan and directions to be developed and flowed down all the organizational levels. And since there is still a lot of uncertainty on next year's budget expectations, I wouldn't expect a lot of movement until 2012 at the earliest. Everyone is hoping something happens soon. Personally, I haven't worked on a legitimate project for over a year, it is mostly just odds and ends and people's pet projects.

LOL I work in a VatoZone too (Red Shirt :frown: )
Pay is kind of crappy, the people in the store are super cool tho (Except for one guy that no one likes which is a red shirt) and schedule is flexible and got to love the 20 percent off, well kind of.
The only thing I hate about this job is that sometimes the gray shirts are ***holes and very VERY annoying, not including the store manager and one of the sales manager.

Did you go to the auto show on Saturday in Ridgeland?
