By that I mean:

1. Not cute
2. Note polarizing
3. Not brutally ugly
4. Not pretty
5. No heritage or legacy
6. Not fast or too terribly slow
7. Not crude but not extremely refined either
8. Not terribly unreliable, but nothing that would survive a nuclear holocaust either
9. No real cult following, few detractors

In general, something very beige. I nominate the:

Non-SS Chevy Cobalt sedan

Image
Toyota Corolla

Pontiac G6 sedan

All of them are cars you'd buy to stick your doesn't-care-about-cars wife and her shopping bags in. Other nominees?

Any car that also doubles as a rental car. Charger, 300, Altima, HHR, PT Cruiser, etc.

I'd counter that the PT Cruiser being horribly dated and the butt of jokes by auto enthusiasts and the 300's adoption by ghetto blasters (and the ugly styling) makes them ever so slightly more than forgettable.

I'll make an exception, the 300C and SRT8 look pretty hot (nicer grille, much nicer wheels), and sound beautiful, and they're even nice to drive. The rental-spec 2.7L versions are quite displeasing.

Chevy Aveo or w/e it's called.

Those Corolla's suck. I drove on (5 spd), transmission is really heavy, the car is really heavy, steering is heavy and really tight, not exactly a great car to own. The front end looks nice, though, not so much the rear.

Another rental car that's extravagantly boring to drive.

That's a Toyota Corolla/Chevy Prism too. Another former rental car and one of the most boring things on the planet. The motor in that car is probably the most manufactured Toyota motors ever (7AFE).

Not quite, that car was the basis of the Spirit R/T. In 1991 had a lotus 16v head and produced 225hp. Cult following, I still snap my head when I think I've seen one.

The malibu is a good one...

I still vote 2005 saturn vue... Not real slow, decently reliable, and you cant ding the doors, perfect for grocery getting!

I nominate the Chevrolet Corsica. My brother had one and there were no redeeming qualities. As boring car as boring car gets.

The malibu is definitely a contender, but the Corsica is looking like a winner too.

Wasn't the Z26 in the same chassis as the Beretta/Corsica?

Corsica/Lumina are great entries. Outstandingly mediocre!

You have to kind of draw the line because GM had like a total of 4 different chassis back then...

Okay, but the Corsica looks more like a Beretta than anything else, really.
